Alright this thread is for others like myself who feared (I somewhat still fear) that they might have accidentally blasphemed against the Holy Spirit. That means hardening your heart and rejecting Christ right, not accidentally thinking things against the Holy Spirit or perhaps that Jesus wasn't really God and that He was of the devil. (I repented after thinking these thoughts that I most certainly did not mean and I can't help but still being a bit worried. I think if I'm worried about it I didn't commit the unforgivable sin though right?)

Start with this: Someone who has never known God, I believe, cannot blaspheme the Holy Spirit. If this were true it would give us an idea what blaspheming the Holy Spirit is Not! Then again, no one accidently blasphemes the Holy Spirit. No one is accidently lost to the salvation of God.

Being dead is not blasphemy! All unbelievers who have never been anything but unbelievers with regard to God are dead if their first parents were Adam and Eve from the Book of Genesis. They are simply dead and will remain so until and if they take hold of the Life, which Jesus brought.

Blasphemy of the holy Spirit, can only be committed by an unbeliever.

This is the sin of "Christ Rejection".

It is actually and literally the "unpardonable sin".

You cannot commit this if you are > Born again<, .....so never worry about this at all.
You cannot commit this if you are >Born again<, .....so never worry about this at all.
You cannot commit this if you are > Born again<, .....so never worry about this at all.

And if a heretic comes at you trying to make you believe you can, then you are dealing with a thoroughbred devil.
Mark them down, and delete them from your life.
= Leave this Church.
= Leave this Teacher.
= Leave this Seminary
= Never look back.
Get your Family OUT OF THERE !!

The devil beats many many Christians, mentally, with a fear of this "blaspheming the HS", ..Its one of his most wicked strongholds, but its not his worst.
His worst stronghold he can build in your mind, is to cause you to believe that you can lose your salvation.
As once he's built this stronghold in your head,....you will leave Right Believing, you will fall from Grace, and you could very well spend the rest of your life sinning, confessing, repenting, and doubting your salvation...and THAT, Saint, is the worst case situation of all, at it renders your faith, as corrupted, and your discipleship as powerless.
You'll live in a state of theological confusion, spiritual bewilderment, and never will you have perfect peace with God again, once you have this demonic stronghold living in your mind.
=And to break this stronghold, is epic difficulty. So, never let a heretic try to get you away from God's Grace and into doubting your salvation.
Listen Saint, the BLOOD OF JESUS is your FULL Assurance of Salvation.
This is God's Holy Blood, and once it is applied to you, your are forever under it's redeeming power.

The concept of “blasphemy against the Spirit” is mentioned in Mark 3:22–30 and Matthew 12:22–32. Jesus has just performed a miracle. A demon-possessed man was brought to Jesus, and the Lord cast the demon out, healing the man of blindness and muteness. The eyewitnesses to this exorcism began to wonder if Jesus was indeed the Messiah they had been waiting for. A group of Pharisees, hearing the talk of the Messiah, quickly quashed any budding faith in the crowd: “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons,” they said (Matthew 12:24).

Jesus rebuts the Pharisees with some logical arguments for why He is not casting out demons in the power of Satan (Matthew 12:25–29). Then He speaks of the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit: “I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come” (verses 31–32).

The term blasphemy may be generally defined as “defiant irreverence.” The term can be applied to such sins as cursing God or willfully degrading things relating to God. Blasphemy is also attributing some evil to God or denying Him some good that we should attribute to Him. This particular case of blasphemy, however, is called “the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit” in Matthew 12:31. The Pharisees, having witnessed irrefutable proof that Jesus was working miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit, claimed instead that the Lord was possessed by a demon (Matthew 12:24). Notice in Mark 3:30 Jesus is very specific about what the Pharisees did to commit blasphemy against the Holy Spirit: “He said this because they were saying, ‘He has an impure spirit.’”

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit has to do with accusing Jesus Christ of being demon-possessed instead of Spirit-filled. This particular type of blasphemy cannot be duplicated today. The Pharisees were in a unique moment in history: they had the Law and the Prophets, they had the Holy Spirit stirring their hearts, they had the Son of God Himself standing right in front of them, and they saw with their own eyes the miracles He did. Never before in the history of the world (and never since) had so much divine light been granted to men; if anyone should have recognized Jesus for who He was, it was the Pharisees. Yet they chose defiance. They purposely attributed the work of the Spirit to the devil, even though they knew the truth and had the proof. Jesus declared their willful blindness to be unpardonable. Their blasphemy against the Holy Spirit was their final rejection of God’s grace. They had set their course, and God was going to let them sail into perdition unhindered.

Jesus told the crowd that the Pharisees’ blasphemy against the Holy Spirit “will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come” (Matthew 12:32). This is another way of saying that their sin would never be forgiven, ever. Not now, not in eternity. As Mark 3:29 puts it, “They are guilty of an eternal sin.”

The immediate result of the Pharisees’ public rejection of Christ (and God’s rejection of them) is seen in the next chapter. Jesus, for the first time, “told them many things in parables” (Matthew 13:3; cf. Mark 4:2). The disciples were puzzled at Jesus’ change of teaching method, and Jesus explained His use of parables: “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. . . . Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand” (Matthew 13:11, 13). Jesus began to veil the truth with parables and metaphors as a direct result of the Jewish leaders’ official denunciation of Him.

Again, the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit cannot be repeated today, although some people try. Jesus Christ is not on earth—He is seated at the right hand of God. No one can personally witness Jesus performing a miracle and then attribute that power to Satan instead of the Spirit.

The unpardonable sin today is the state of continued unbelief. The Spirit currently convicts the unsaved world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). To resist that conviction and willfully remain unrepentant is to “blaspheme” the Spirit. There is no pardon, either in this age or in the age to come, for a person who rejects the Spirit’s promptings to trust in Jesus Christ and then dies in unbelief. The love of God is evident: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). And the choice is clear: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him” (John 3:36).got ?

hope this helps !!!

That's the thing,.. I knew God at the time but I was just upset with Him. I didn't really mean to think it either. :(
Is knowing about God even believing that He exists equal to knowing God? I do not believe so.

Consider

"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." James 2:19

The devils believe in the existence of one God. They know about the existence of God, but but they do NOT know God. Consider also the use the word "know" in scripture in reference to a man's relationship with a woman. A man can know a woman without knowing her. He can speak to her as a friend and companion without ever being her bed partner. This physical thing between men and women alludes to the spiritual relationship between the Bride of Christ [comprised of both physical men and women] and the Bridegroom.
Once a person commits to marriage with Christ to break that connection and connect with another is adultery. Is adultery an unforgivable sin? Is adultery also blasphemy?

@April_Rose While I was writing my response in post #6 I see that two others have also responded. As you can see there are different opinions on this thing among people on the forum. These are perhaps among the reasons why there was a Reformation in the time of Martin Luther and now we see around us literally thousands of supposedly Protestant denominations each claiming to have Truth.

Thanks guys I was mostly worried because I have spoken badly about the Holy Spirit in a sudden moment of rage without thinking, and I do mostly believe that I was forgiven,.. but lately today I keep getting these nagging thoughts of I was never forgiven after all. :(

You do the best that you can and strive to do better asking God sincerely for help to do so. Alone, none of us can do it all right all of the time. With God's help, if we allow Him to help, what is impossible?

The concept of “blasphemy against the Spirit”

Saint, that was a wonderful post.

But you are teaching regarding, : Blasphemy "AGAINST" the Holy Spirit.
This is not the same as : Blasphemy "OF" the Holy Spirit.

Blasphemy "OF". "OF"....the HS< is Hebrews 10. You have Hebrews who are willfully rejecting Messiah.
"trodding underfoot the BLood", and "crucifying Christ, Afresh". "doing despite to the Spirit of Grace"..
Its THAT which is "blasphemy OF"..

And all that bible lingo, is just saying.... Paul was giving them the Gospel, with signs following, and they """WILLFULLY SINNED"......knowingly, would not have Jesus as Their Messiah.
So, Paul tells them.....If you reject your Messiah, there 'REMAINS NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR YOUR SIN"...

AND THAT is the Key to recognizing "blasphemy OF".. = as if you "willfully" reject the SACRIFICE, ...as Paul is Explaining, then there is no other, and there is NO MORE. ...forever.

So, that is the unpardonable sin..... which is to REJECT PARDON.....to REJECT God's Son.

= That is Blasphemy "OF" the Holy Spirit.

Blasphemy "Against" is what you wrote about, Christophany.
Its a Jew, 2000 Yrs ago, accusing Jesus of doing miracles by the power of the Devil.
So, that is Face to Face with Messiah, With THE CHRIST< and you tell Him....."your miracles are the devil's work".

So, you can't commit that one, unless you have a Time Machine, become a Jew, and can go back in time.

Yeah Satan obviously hasn't given up on trying to scare me and worry me to the death so I really shouldn't let him since he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

So obviously saying (or in my case) thinking that you hate the Holy Spirit or anything against Christ is different than what He was actually calling the unpardonable sin.

Closing doors against what you know is right pushes God's Spirit away. Stopped ears ensure that Spirit is no longer heard (because it's inconvenient) ....and the Spirit leaves you to your choices. Direction is now guided by a 'religious' imagination.

So in other words?
It is the Spirit's role (job) to bring truth to consciousness....and he will if he is not 'choked'. Conviction is evidence that the Spirit is at work. The presence of God's Spirit is also manifest in a person's desire to do right, to think right and to learn to love the unlovely amongst other things.

God does not force the will or ones choice. Blaspheming God's Spirit is when one cuts off that influence (voice) by persistently rejecting it resulting in no other avenue by which God can be heard.

If you are able and willing to come to Jesus for any reason, then you have not blasphemed the Holy Ghost.

Because Jesus said, Whoever comes to me I will in no wise cast out. (John 6:37).

Kill any babies for Jesus lately?
Not even an orgy for God?

Told anyone that Jesus was a liar? A fraud? Just after your money? Or that God/Jesus was mean?

Then you got nothing to worry about.
