I made a topic about this on another Christian forum before and since I'm currently writing a love story where one character doesn't have the perfect body, I'm sort of wondering that as much as a lot of us on here feel like we're brainwashed by the media, why do we let that same media influence us that the only people who are beautiful are the ones that look like supermodels? I must admit, I am one of those people who appear to be brainwashed since I've never really been comfortable with how I look lol that,.. and I've heard it all the time growing up. I'm too short, too fat, I look horrible with glasses etc. I guess somewhere along the line I heard it so much that I began to believe it.
If you wanna know what true beauty is, the Lord explained it right here through Peter (1 Peter 3:3-4. I'll see if this image posts. If not I'll find another, or just type it out).
It should actually read, "Let your adorning be the hidden woman of the heart," since the context makes it clear he is talking to women.
The loving heart, the kind heart, the gentle heart. These are what God finds beautiful.

When we get older, we slowly lose our looks. I'm reminded of it everyday, LoL.
But that's all the more reason to invest in what is truly beautiful, and God says it's a beauty that will never fade away.

So then that brings me to my original question. Why have we been taught that we have to look a certain way to be beautiful? How and who started defining what we see in the media as beautiful? Being underweight is just as unhealthy as being overweight.

I know and I'm not saying whether you are or aren't,.. I'm saying don't feel obliged to answer dumb and ignorant questions when they don't have any business asking you that in the first place.
I would ignore them but I wasn't going to put up with somebody being rude like that to one of my friends.

No for one I just have the need to stand up for my friends and for two,.. do you have the need to act like such an idiot? What is with you lately? I used to like a lot of your responses but now you just really frustrate me and make me want to swear.

It's the first thing we see. Actually, outer beauty to some extent is a reflection of inner beauty. A beautiful soul becomes more and more apparent on the countenance, and an ugly soul will likewise start to make a beautiful woman less attractive over time. But you can't look upon the heart right away. Only God can. Nevertheless, mankind knows what a beautiful soul is, and they recognize it when they see it. It just takes them longer to get to know the person on the inside.
But unlike God, Satan doesn't care about the person on the inside. He doesn't care for people at all, and wants them to be the opposite of what God wants. So he he places all his stress on the outer woman or man, and has since the beginning. But God still looks on the inside.
