Grandma kept a bowl of peanuts on the screened porch. Her "pet" Black Squirrel would come to the steps, she would open the screen door, the squirrel would run in, take a peanut out of the bowl and run back out the door. Day after day, the same thing. Cute!

Ah... I remember our pet squirrel who would come and make the screen door bang by swaying on it. We fed "Pee Wee" almonds.

Seems Grandma always had a good level dirt spot in her yard, perfect for playing marbles.

my grandma passed when I was ten. what I remember at grandmas house: stacks of hat boxes up in the closet, mix match china in the glass cupboard, antique gliders, a black cash register with gold buttons. and a back room that always smelled like an old feed store(my favorite room at grandmas house).
All sounds genuine....a child's early memories will often be lasting...
