Do you listen to other genres of music or just Christian music?

I don’t listen to that much music, but I know I am free to listen to anything that does not upset the peace of Christ in my heart.

Be blessed as He forms Himself in you to a greater and greater degree, Not me

The track in post #1, above, would be considered hard rock...

It's the lyrics that really count; the genre of music is more subjective...

Since hard rock is clearly a deviant (and devilish) form of secular music, Christians have no business with this kind of music.

One of my favorite Dylan songs (and albums). Both slow train and when you gonna wake up are great (and Mark Knopfler is fantastic on lead guitar).

Why would I? Even the hard rockers would object to *cultural misappropriation*.

I think the lyrics are good; and communicated effectively, anyway.

I put in there not sure, as in rock isn't my taste in music, I like Country music, Celtic music can be pretty good as well, and Christian reggae can be pretty good too, and I also like a good instrumental as well.

But since the poll question is do you appreciate Christian Hard Rock?

Even though it's not my taste, if it's Christian lyrics and glorifies Jesus, well that is a good thing, I do appreciate it to a degree just for that and it's still better than some other genres.

As for secular music, country music is my favorite genre whether Christian or secular, but when it comes to secular, I don't always like the lyrics, but I like it for the tune, for the twang, for the melodies, Pedal Steel Guitars, Fiddles, Chicken picking country guitar riffs, banjos, mandolins, Dobro's, there's just something sweet about the country sound for me, and cannot forget to mention about the good Fishing songs, family songs, driving songs, war songs, patriotic songs, riding songs, rodeo songs and Jesus songs. ;)

    Agree

Most rock stimulates the carnal soulish flesh rather than lifting us up in the Spirit of worship.

I used to love rock...but then I grew up ( as Paul says) and put those things away.

I think this is something the Holy Spirit in a believer has to be the decider on... So to point one to their own inner witness is what’s called for.

My thing is I used to listen to hard rock, but not the kind that glorified Christ, now the stuff reminds me of someone from a long time about 30 plus years ago that I’m not to fond of.

I like @Not me 's response in Post #10. Personally I don't any more because it's a pretty tough genre to glorify God with, as there has to be a very powerful anointing on it to overpower the music itself. Not since Stryper have I really heard hard rock that actually pulled it off, i.e. created genuine praise music out of heavy metal.
