I like Radical. Great song. But now I was talking more about genuine praise songs TO the Lord rather than about Him, or one's connection to Him. More Than A Man was an example of a Stryper song that fit the description, though I think there were a few others.

You know, posting quite frequently about things like tattoos and Christian rock makes me wonder if you might not actually be a member of Disciple, Farouk...

    Is that true? :)

LoL. Michael's voice sounds about an octave lower now : ) Thank goodness there is no aging in Heaven. ;)

About that concert, I seriously doubt many of those Japanese know what's being sung about. Maybe he should have sung the songs in Japanese. :D

@Hidden In Him No I'm not! but it's undoubted in my mind that Christian witness is expressed sometimes through mediums such as rock lyrics, tattoo designs, etc. Your being influenced for good by the Christian lyrics expressed in quality hard rock is a case in point. I'm sure others have been challenged as a result of Stryper being willing to express such lyrics in hard rock. My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite verse and mine also; and I'm sure other conversations have arisen as a result of her willingness as a young adult to use a tattoo parlor thus. It's not really about feeling good with hard rock and tattoos; rather, it's about in conscience feeling good and compelled to witness through these means. (If you follow...?)

Do I like Christian "Hard" Rock?

My choice wasn't on there; no, maybe & unsure.
    1. No, it is not my cup of tea.
    2. Maybe, if its message is on point and effective, genre (like medium) is a neutral means to an end. Even more conservative genres can fail in this regard.*
    3. Unsure. I don't know where the line would be for hard rock. I have Petra and Mylon & Broken Heart on my playlist. I am very eclectic in my musical tastes. I like music from many different genres, but very few genres in their entirety. And different music seems to be appropriate at different times.
*There is a country song that goes, "You can't be a beacon, if your light don't shine..."
I fixed the chorus for them... :p
You can't be a beacon, if you don't have the Light.
You can't be a beacon, if you don't have the Light.
All the Light's in Jesus, so it's not by power or might.
You can't be a beacon, if you don't have the Light.

As so very often, thoughtful, sensible sounding comments from you, if I may say so...

Again it's not really a question of promoting a particular medium or genre for its own sake; but acknowledging that hard rock can indeed convey effective, hard hitting Biblical lyrics to a particular audience...

@Sabertooth It's a bit like in other areas, also, I suppose (inc. tattoo designs?); one person can't really draw the line for another.

The main, strategic issue is I suppose if the medium is effectively conveying a wholesome and constructive message.

@Butterfly PS: I think it's also the case that for those who do listen a lot to it, then it grows on you...(if this makes sense?)

@CovenantPromise Yes, as a medium it can effectively communicate a hard hitting Biblical message; and in my humble view for example the Disciple 'Radical' track in the OP (and my post header) does convey it rather effectively.

So you have learned to appreciate some hard rock? for some ppl it can take a while to learn to appreciate it, but when you do it kind of grows on you and makes it clearer to see how as a medium it can be used to communicate a strongly expressed faith message. Perhaps - unlike some ppl - you would not describe yourself as a hard rock woman (because there are probably other musical genres which you strongly appreciate also).

There is one song (with it's video) which brings home to me strongly the fact that God has spoken but man is not listening.

It's an old favorite of many ppl; Simon & Garfunkel's version is best known.

It's not in hard rock style; but thanks for the contribution.

(For a moment there I thought you were getting into the hard rock... :) )
