"For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive." (1 Corinthians 15:22 ESV)
The apostle Paul’s letter was written to spirit anointed Christians in Corinth, who would be resurrected to life in heaven. Those Christians were "called to be saints” or "holy ones"....
"Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. . . .
To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours". (1 Corinthians 1:1-2)
Paul there differentiates those called to heaven (saints) from those who are not. "Both their Lord and ours" signifies two separate groups who accept Jesus as their "Lord".
And Paul also mentioned “those who have fallen asleep [in death] in union with Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:18, 2 Corinthians 5:17) So those who had died faithful were assured of their reward. They would rule with Christ in his heavenly kingdom. (Revelation 20:6)
In another inspired letter, Paul wrote to these ones... “Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?.” (Romans 6:3-5) Jesus was raised as a spirit and went to heaven. So that will be the outcome for all “who have been baptized into Christ Jesus” that is, all spirit-anointed Christians.
Paul wrote that Christ was raised as “the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.[in death].” (1 Corinthians 15:20) Jesus was the first human ever to be raised from the dead as a spirit and to receive everlasting life....."He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead..." (Colossians 1:18)
So some interesting questions arise here.....who goes to heaven and what will they do there?
Since Revelation 20:6 speaks of these ones as "kings and priests" ruling with Christ for 1,000 years, it is clear that these are ruling over people, and they are acting as priests for them.
So who are their subjects and for whom do they act as priests?
Revelation 21:2-4 answers....
"2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (ESV)
The "new Jerusalem" is God's Kingdom, bringing God's rulership to "man"...to redeemed humans on earth. This is a restoration of God's original purpose for the human race.....the "former things" that made life a misery, will have "passed away"...no longer a cause for pain, suffering and death.....and the dead will be resurrected to join those who survive the end times.
That...is the "good news of the Kingdom". (Matthew 24:14)
