Maybe some incentive for some. My father was a chain smoker for many years, then quit cold turkey, which was no picnic.

30 some years later lung cancer was found, which spread and killed him.

This year my mother, died of cancer, probably the result of secondhand smoke.

It is a nasty habit that I never started having seen my dad puffing as a kid.

Sorry about your mother. Good all round to quit.

I quit smoking for 3 months with a Greensmoke ecig! Unfortunately, I had some stress and began again for almost 5 months now. But I am currently charging all of the batteries so I will be ready to start on it again. I felt so much better for that 3 months! But, I am not convinced that smoking is a sin. I think it might rather be one of those: all things are legal for me but not all things are profitable -that the apostle mentions.
Christmas with all its preparations can be stressful.

So for smokers it's understandable to want to light cigarettes.

But good to quit if possible.

But don't beat yourself up if you don't, right?

@VictoryinJesus It can be stressful especially at Christmas; and I think you said you have done it since you were 16.

Although it's good to quit if possible, don't beat yourself up if it relieves stress, right?

@Grams I think you quit, right? good you were successful. Christmas can be a stressful time, of course; and a lot of ppl find it hard to stay quit from smoking.

I didn't want to quit because I was afraid I would gain a lot of weight. I suppose to be honest I used smoking as a appetite suppressant. But also, my mom smoke while she was pregnant, smoked in the car with the windows up, smoked in the house (3 packs a day)….so I guess you can say I have been smoking since I was conceived....ugh!
Congrats. on your recent efforts to stay quit! :)

Especially as you indicated you grew up in smoke.
