It is very sad that there are Christians that are opposed to trying to be good and do good....so sad and so misguided.

It’s even SADDER that people spread ignorant lies....again , I request —- Put up or Shut up.

Again I will say it, it is not up to you or me or a billion people....read the Bible.

Ok, so I have entertained the distraction here.
Good to here from you guys. Hope all is good with you.
But the title of this thread is "Why do you feel it is so hard to be good."
It is not entitled, "Why I feel it is not right or important to be Good."
Nor is it entitled, "I am confused as to what good is."
If you do not have something to offer this thread...move it along.
Start a thread about why you think it is not right or important to be good.

Psalm 18:13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

Proverbs 25:21-22 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: [22] For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.

see that is confusing because are you saying it is being promoted not to be good? Yet in the same breath saying it is being promoted to be perfect which is impossible? Which is it?

…one question …how does ones good deeds exceed that of the Pharisees?
Matthew 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

NOBODY “Loves God with ALL of their heart, soul and mind.......better take the “ loophole” which is to put your Faith in the Gospel Of 1Cor15:1-4...

The Jewish Sabbath is from Sundown Friday until Sundown Saturday.....just like it has always been....

I’m trying to but you seem to be only accepting what you feel is worthy. I don’t think it is hard to be good. I can go give a homeless guy up on the corner some money easily and it will make me feel better. I can give someone less fortunate my stuff. Serve when I’m being thanked. I don’t have a problem smiling and being considerate when it is easy. What is impossible for me is to love those who do not love me in return. it not easy to keep smiling and being considerate when someone is hurting you. Or to give when it is not appreciated. I can do good; sinners do good.

May not be good to give homeless people money. The money you give them could be the next fix that takes their life. Or someone else’s.

It’s very easy to do human good.
Devine good????, I’m not certain that’s the topic, because no one has yet to give their personal definition of good.

“Doing Good” can be difficult at times ....isn’t it GREAT that it has nothing to do with Getting Saved or Staying Saved? Faith and Grace takes care of all of “ that” stuff....all ya Gotta do is Believe the Gospel Of 1Cor15:1-4....

I wouldn't be so sure about the saved or staying saved part. The parable ...
    KJV Matthew 25:41-43, 45-46
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: why am I being concerned Lord???
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. But we never saw you Lord...
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Well exactly...the doing good side of being good.
Doing good for one another does not get you saved.
And it does not get you to heaven.
But according to the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats, not doing good for one another can get you to hell.

We practice being good and avoiding evil. But we fail at times. It is not so easy as you claim to be good. We have been cleansed, we do wear Christ's righteousness, but our flesh gets in the way.
You really think it is easy to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF?
OR DI YOU RHINK IT IS EASY TO LOVE YOUR ENEMIES?

Oh, our spiritual suit remains white, but the spirit wars against the flesh and vice versa.

Okay. We are to obey Christ right ... and you claim it's not that difficult for you?
    Obey Christ then:
"The young man said to Him, 'All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?'
Jesus said to him, 'If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.' But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions." Matt. 19:20-22

So Mr. GOOD, if you want to be Mr. PERFECT, sell all your possessions, your house, empty your bank account and give to the poor and follow Jesus!

Oh, wait ... do you feel that tug against your spirit, the flesh is aroused now in you ... there's a resistance ... your flesh gets annoyed by this prospect, it actually angers you ... puts you up against the wall and challenges you ... you are uncomfortable now. What to do? Immediately you protest, I can't do that ... I won't do that!" So you dismiss this command of Jesus. Of course you will. You will make up an excuse: "I'm not rich". Yes you are if you live in the USA, even the poorest of us are richer than most of the world. You might say, "Well, Jesus was'nt talking to me personally, I'm already saved, that man was not." Maybe so. Jesus knew his heart, knew he could not part with his wealth. He was not saved ... but no one was at that time either. Maybe later, he removed everything off the camel so it could fit through the eye of the needle? We all .ake excuses for not kkving iur neighbor as ourselves don't we?
Feeling better? Did your flesh win. Yes it did, you found an excuse not to. You will refuse to sell all you have and give it away because ... just because you don't really ... be honest, you don't really love your neighbor as yourself. You put yourself and your family first and give a little ... what's left over.
It is said that most Christian's average charitible giving is about 2-3 %. Not everyone gives 10% even. And some give more. My Pastor used to tell us that 20% of the congregation give the majority of the tithes/free will offerings. And he would still stress, "give and it shall be given to you". It is a leap of faith. "Test God", he said, and He will show you. He would regularly bring up saints who did just that and gave their testimonies of what God gave them back, God's blessings in return. It works! Give and it shall be given to you. But many of us are atill reluctant and unwilling to test that principle. Certainly few will sell everything and give it to the poor. I guess we will just wait to be really good and perfect in heaven... won't we Grailhunter?

Our monthly Saturday church potluck was a real blessing to so many people over the years, but it was a lot of work, so I'm really glad so many people were willing to violate the Law of the Sabbath to help me bless the church!

Except we knew we were well inside God's intent, working on the Sabbath, because the true rest is trusting Jesus, and loving others is our mission.

    Much love!
