Why millennials are leaving church

There seemed to be an abrupt closing to the thread about that hillary clinton quote and millenials leaving church because many of them are too judgemental.

Post-modernism and subjective truth have crept into the church and many millennials are leaving because they have subscribed to this new false way of thinking where you have to accept something you don't agree with to be included as tolerant.

If I drank beer and coffee and smoked cigarettes I would feel judged by the Mormons, so why are they feeling judged? Maybe because they're sinners and have been brought up to become more sinful. This is a social problem that should be addressed (schools, social media, government, etc). Not a Christian problem that needs to be addressed.

I know of a lot of people that put their children into Christian schools now and skip the whole public education for that reason.

I'm not sure what post modernism and subjective truth have to do with it.

But Malachi 4:6 speaks of great sin overtaking the earth.

Because they're sinners and have been brought up to become more sinful. This is a social problem that should be addressed (schools, social media, government, etc). Not a Christian problem that needs to be addressed.

I do agree that mass values shifts are a large scale social issue. The total sphere of social people obviously does include Christian individuals.

But realistically, changes has to start within every individual and work outward. You have the most power to influence your immediate contacts, especially children in your own home.

A good psychologist once told me that if you call a person stupid over and over, eventually they will believe it. It's conditioning, and in opposition, if you call them smart over and over again, eventually they will believe that. The problem is the constant bombardment of the types of values being "forced" against these youth, with the threat of peer pressure. One for instance is GBLT acceptance pressure, which is obvious if you watch the CNN news very much, you see people getting bashed by celebrities for being anti-GBLT. It's pretty blatant peer pressuring. They're being told they will not be accepted and are bad people for not supporting GBLT, and they're being conditioned with this over and over again, like I suggested.

I like what you're saying about making your children feel accepted and love, even if they are GBLT. It is important. I should then say we should also support the Bible teachings and we all have sexual nature we have to reject and rise above, why should GBLT be any different?

The actual definition of a judgment is: "the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions.". They can tell you all day long that they're not judging, but that is a blatant lie then. Not allowing someone to go to the temple based on worthiness is in essence a judgment by definition.

"Bob" is a foul-mouth wife-beating smoking alcoholic habitual liar and hypocrite whom hates God. Guess what? Bob is welcome to come to church at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints every single day he wants. He is welcomed, he is loved, he is taught, etc. The aim is that he embraces Christ and has that change of heart: the old wife-beater to die & be buried, and the Christ-loving disciple be born. A man whom loves Christ & walks in His ways: treating his wife with respect, being honest, clean, etc.

While the old-beating Bob is welcomed & loved at church, he's not allowed to become a priest while being Christ-hating wife-beater. That's not due to lack of love or shaming him or "judging"- he's simply not in a place-of-heart to take on that role and it's not loving to set someone somewhere they don't want and will just be a dismal failure. Therefore the wife-beating Christ-hating version of Bob is not allowed to become a priest (which is where the temple part comes in). A temple is NOT where weekly services or held or any of that stuff, rather it's a different & specific place for priesthood rituals.

I like the Mormon judging of who can hold office in the church, it's supported in the Bible (Leviticus 21). Which rules out Joseph Smith as just a deacon since he had multiple wives (1 Timothy 3:12) (Mormon church polygamy: Joseph Smith 'had up to 40 wives'). Not that I agree with all the Alcohol, Tobacco and Coffee issues. Coffee, for instance (New Study Shows Coffee—Even 25 Cups a Day of It—Isn't Bad for Your Heart | Smart News | Smithsonian Magazine), is a bronchial dilator that has benefits for people suffering from Asthma and other lung problems. In fact I don't have to use my inhaler at all if I drink coffee everyday.

And, BTW I know of a lot of non-wife beater light drinkers that can't hold an office in the Mormon church. But drinking is supported in scripture for people suffering medical conditions, but perhaps that would be taken over by pain killers in the modern age. And if I were judging, I would say a little wine is a far better alternative to doctor prescribed, highly addictive, pain killers.

In fact I don't have to use my inhaler at all if I drink coffee everyday.

If your were an LDS Christian in that spot, it would be a time to talk with your doctor and local leader about possible courses of action. There is reason here.

As you're not an LDS Christian, it's really not an applicable thing. I promised the Lord I'm not going to drink coffee, and serves as a nice commitment to Him. You've made no such promise, so it makes zero sense for me to judge you for not keeping a promise you've not made.

Because of the non-stop lies 99.999% of Christians promote daily, I was ready to throw my Bible in the trash. That is when I decided to actually *READ* the Bible instead of letting others tell me what was in it.

Most of you here have no idea in the world what Hell and the Lake of Fire is. You are blinded by your never-ending hatred for Humanity.

So great is this hatred that the mere mention of what Hell and the Lake of Fire actually represent gets an instant ban on every (so called) "Christian" forum out there. This is the only forum I know of that allows the Truth to be discussed, which makes this place the only True Christian Forum on the net as far as I know.

Unfortunately, because so many Christians are hopelessly brainwashed, as soon as the Truth is mentioned they instantly react with insults and cries of 'blasphemy'. Cognitive Dissonance is a common theme with many of them.

I believe many of them are leaving the church because sound biblical doctrines in all its forms are not being taught any more. In the majority of churches, end times teachings are not even mentioned because they are too controversial. They don't see the power of God in action...all they see are the failures many christians have w/ very little victories. Christianity is not a uniter it is a divider as Christ taught. They want to believe the world's picture of a Star Trek style utopia brought about by humanity's own merits and not upon God's.
