So I want to set a scenario around this issue.
There is a couple of people. They are gay, they are married and totally monogamous. They are born again believers, have been since before they came out of the closet. Their conscience tells them God understands them and accepts them, because to them, being gay is as inherent in their personal make up as someone who is heterosexual. Are they covered by grace?
I don't know, I'm asking.
it took me a long time to understand this but Gods mercy and Gods grace are two different things. His mercy is His kindness and long suffering(patience) with us and His always being ready to forgive. He knows our frame.
His grace is different. It’s power to us and for us. The power to escape our three enemies - the world, the flesh and the devil, and to have power over them so they can no longer control and batter us by appealing to our passions, will, emotions.
We tend to believe and understand that God is merciful but to not yet understand how powerful His grace is and that it can literally put our enemies under our feet.
His grace is what Paul talked about here: And He said unto me, “My
grace is sufficent for thee, for My
strength is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore will I glory rather in my infirmities, that the
power of Christ may rest upon me.
