"Spiritual examples" in the book of Revelation are the best, and
only, verses that show that the Greek word for "temple" is "
naos = spiritual." The Greek word for a brick-and-mortar building is "
hieron." There are 17 usages of the word
"temple" in Revelation and
ALL of them are spiritual terms; not one reference to "hieron" (a building) is used in the entire book of Revelation.
Rev 3:12...He who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God; never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.
Rev 7:15...Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night within his temple; and he who sits upon the throne will shelter them with his presence.
Rev 11:1...Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told: "Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there,
Rev 11:2...but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample over the holy city for forty-two months.
