Brethren in Christ, do NOT be deceived by the old doctrines of Judaism about our physical and spiritual makeup that God created us with. Their doctrines involve a dependency upon flesh, and omit teaching about the "spiritual body" of Apostle Paul.
In 1 Corinthians 15, Apostle Paul explained what type... of body the resurrection will be. He taught that it will be a "spiritual body" (1 Corinthians 15:42-50). And he taught that is the type body also those still alive on earth when Jesus comes, will be changed into.
A little later in that same 1 Corinthians 15 Chapter, Apostle Paul taught that on the "last trump" (the 7th Trumpet of Revelation 11), we shall be "changed"...
1 Cor 15:51-52
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
KJV
Now it is most often taught in today's Churches that when Paul said, "but we shall all be changed", that he was speaking only... about those of Christ's Church. But their idea simply is not so. Paul was actually pointing to ALL PEOPLES still alive on earth on that day of Christ's future return. ALL those still alive on earth will be changed, at the twinkling of an eye, at an instant, suddenly.
Maybe Paul doesn't seem clear on that point that all alive are changed on that day, you might say? A little later though, but in Greek, Paul did clear that point up about the wicked still alive being changed to the "spiritual body" also.
John 5:28-29
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
KJV
It's kind of amazing that Lord Jesus there taught that on the day of His 2nd coming ALL in the graves will come forth, i.e., be raised, and for those who did good to the "resurrection of life", and to those who did evil to the "resurrection of damnation". Lot of brethren simply bypass this John 5:28-29 Scripture, no doubt because it conflicts with how they wrongly teach about the "dead" in Revelation 20:5 being about a later second resurrection.
The matter there with what Lord Jesus said is a fact though, i.e., the WICKED dead will have a resurrection also on the day of His future return! just not among those in Christ.
Since those of the "resurrection of damnation" will be raised from the dead also, what type of body will they have? Well, what type of body did Paul teach the resurrection is... per the 1 Corinthians 15 Scripture? A "spiritual body"? (1 Corinthians 15:42-50). YES! a "spiritual body".
Some will think, "But I thought the spiritual body meant Salvation in Jesus Christ?" Not so, there are TWO CHANGES one must go through to have Eternal Life in Christ Jesus, not just one. How so?
1 Cor 15:53-55
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, 'Death is swallowed up in victory.'
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
KJV
Count those changes in verse 53 between the "and". That is TWO CHANGES, one must go through to have Christ's Victory over death.
Will those of the "resurrection of damnation" have eternal Life? NO! What's the difference with them then?
Those of the "resurrection of damnation" will STILL BE SUBJECT TO THE "SECOND DEATH". What's that? The "second death" we are told in Revelation 20 is the casting into the future "lake of fire" after the future "thousand years".
Those 4 words in bold-underlined above is where Apostle Paul revealed that point:
1. "corruptible" (Greek phthartos - perishable, flesh) must put on...
2. "incorruption" (Greek aphthrsia - unending existence)
AND...
3. "this mortal" (Greek thnetos - liable to die) must put on...
4. "immortality" (Greek athanasia - deathlessness).
Those of the "resurrection of damnation" will go through the 1st change above ONLY. Their 'mortal' souls will still be in that thnetos liable to die condition of being thrown into the "lake of fire" later, called the "second death". But those in Christ will have put on immortality, their souls made immortal and never able to die.
Paul was actually pulling from Isaiah 25:6-10 about death being swallowed up in victory. That is where Paul was actually quoting from in 1 Corinthians 15:54. And here is one of the prophecies from that Isaiah 25 Scripture about this future change of all peoples on earth...
Isa 25:7
7 And He will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
KJV
In relation to the idea of death being swallowed up in victory, which is with that Isaiah 25 Scripture where Paul was quoting, what do you think that "vail that is spread over all nations" and "face of the covering cast over all people", is about? It is about this present FLESH world, it ending with that "last trump" event with ALL peoples on earth being 'changed'.
I know, all that may seem a lot to take in, especially with all the FLESHY talkers in today's pulpits who don't really understand what the coming resurrection to the "spiritual body" is really about. Did you ever think that is why very few Churches ever cover about this change to the "spiritual body" that Paul taught? Yeah, it conflicts with what they are... teaching instead. And what's that? Most are falsely teaching that the resurrection is to a FLESH BODY, completely bypassing what Apostle Paul taught here in 1 Corinthians 15. And many congregations just ain't gonna' have it any other way, so it's not always the preacher's fault.
God said the following about the rebellious of His people back in Old Testament times, but it can still apply today to the rebellious among His Church too...
Isa 30:9-13
9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:
13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
KJV
You know what that "breaking cometh suddenly at an instant" is referring to? It is referring to the LAST DAY of this present world when God's consuming fire and trembling of the earth will happen on that day, ending this present world.
In 1 Corinthians 15, Apostle Paul explained what type... of body the resurrection will be. He taught that it will be a "spiritual body" (1 Corinthians 15:42-50). And he taught that is the type body also those still alive on earth when Jesus comes, will be changed into.
