I'm happy to let the members decide whether they wish to disclose their denomination. (Personally, I'm OK with revealing mine: Episcopal.) But I also think that knowing a member's denomination is not necessarily a sure guide to knowing the member's beliefs. There is at least some dissent in most denominations.

There is also the possibility that one may challenge another member's logic despite agreeing with the other's ultimate position. I've done that a few times myself, when I see a post that trumpets a particular Scriptural basis for a proposition that actually finds no such support in the Scripture quoted. (Confirmation bias is rampant on this site, as I suspect you've noticed!) By the challenge, I can easily be mistaken for disagreeing with the proposition when in fact, I don't.

We seem to have a raft of folks arguing against the trinity and the identity of Jesus.

We've had a pretty large contingent of them for well over a year now, at least in terms of representation on a percentage basis, and as a result that debate has been the continual focus of this forum month after month, and is constantly running in multiple threads without end.

In their defense, at least some of the Jehovah's Witnesses have been very open about their denomination, Aunty Jane in particular, so it is not as if all of them are failing to disclose. But as for members being forced to accurately identify on their Profile (and in their avatar box)... yeah, I think it would be more honest, to tell you the truth. In light of the current situation, I think everyone should be doing so.

Good point.

I was involved in several churches.
- Presbyterian, Methodist, Assembly of God & Charimatic.
- During my spiritual journey..from 1970's.
It (experience) helped me..understanding denominational differences.
- Not just..by reading/studying.
---
I am nondenominational.. (for many years).

What is TSESA…?

I have no denomination. I just see all the mental and emotional unhealth and a refusal to even speak of it in families and I will admit, it’s the easier way to keep it all hidden and have only surface relationships in the shadows. But I can’t do that any more. It’s…choosing darkness because it’s the easier way. I see this in families no matter the denomination. And it’s heartbreaking because…if you hide the truth, it can’t set you free from every false way and from the useless way of life taught to you by your parents. Everywhere all I see is a sea of masks. How people want to be seen is more important than the truth. I choose the harder way. I don’t care if it makes me odious to others. I want to remain free.

If members were unable to hide behind the term 'Christian' it would save a lot of time.

Thoughts... ???
How many honest folks are there among us? How many striving to be honest folks are also liars?

"God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged." Rom 3:4

Then to the question of denomination? What is it? Does every member of every group, cardholding or not, adhere absolutely the letter of the essentials as per his own group?

Just to be honest [there is that word], I am not a cardholder, not a trinitarian and not part of any traditional church [whatever that is]; and belong to no organized group readily identified by everyone else. I have some other flaws as well. Is there anyone on this who does not?

There is nothing that is more unpopular than the truth.

I'm not a Trinitarian, and am non denominational, is that good enough for you?

For everyone else, I think yes. The question is: IS IT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU? You would say yes. But sometimes we just don't know what's good enough for us. You could be missing out on communion with the Holy Spirit, Who we are baptized by. Are you the Temple of the Holy Spirit? Has He confirmed His presence and communion with you, because that is what is crucially important, being born again. This is what the Parable of the Virgins was all about. Half of them did not have oil in their lamps. The oil symbolocally represents the Holy Spirit. They missed out on LIFE. They thought what they had was good enough.
Do you have OIL for your lamp?

Honestly, I'm neither for or against showing a denominations. I've always been open about mine (LDS Christian aka "Mormon"). But either ways it's not going to solve the on going threads on here. There are too many definitions and belief is a very personal thing.

And also, it could be used to just slander things to- like I've lost count how many times I've had to explain "actually Mormons believe that Christ has always existed and always been God", just to have to explain it again and again-- frequently to the same person! Biases and unlistening ears are so real.

What are my Thoughts regarding your interesting idea?
Thx for asking.

I think that your idea could be useful, as then we'd find out who are : JW,'s MORMON's, Bereans", and worst of all : Pre-Destined Elect Hyper Calvinist.

Other then that, maybe there is a different idea.. that could be included.
How about this.

You stated that this Forum has a "trinity" rampage going on.
Well, it has actually about 6 meltdown fires going on, every day... obo

1. Prove the Trinity

2. KJV is the devil

3. Water Baptism is Salvation

4. You can Lose your salvation.

5. OSAS

6. Catholic, Mary, Sacraments, and similar..

SOLUTION :, if you didnt allow those TOPICS to be DISCUSSED, .. If they were "NOT ALLOWED ON THIS FORUM".. you'd have a lot less Threads, and a lot less Heretics living here serving the Devil.. And you'd have a mostly peaceful forum, that actually talked about things that mattered, which potentially allows for real spiritual growth of the Forum's community.
And best of all, you'd have a place that a New Believer could find, and join, and their faith in Christ not be destroyed here.

Its interesting to note that there is a LOT MORE TO TALK ABOUT then those 6 Topics....FOUND IN THE BIBLE.... and it would be a great help to many students of the word here, if those BEAT TO DEATH TOPICS, were "not allowed".., and you have to AGREE to not POST OR THREAD about them, or you can't join this form, or you will be BANNED if you join and do it, after a couple of "warnings".

op: Disclose denomination?

Probably not such a good idea, as when I was in one, I was PROUD!: "how come
the rest of Severely Divided UP traditional denominations ↓ 'don't get it'?" ↓ -
(Please, Any whom I have Offended, :( Please forgive me) - ↑ I thought I did *:

Then one day God Gave proud me, A Very Severe Thrashing!
Love my Everlasting Father, don't you? Then I RAN from all of that...

So, that Now Means "NOTHING to disclose," eh? And, only ONE question:

Are not All we (IF we are) "members (one of another) In Christ, 'Called'"?:

"God is Faithful, By Whom ye were called unto the fellowship
of His SON Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I beseech you, brethren,
by The Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the
same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but
that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and
in the same judgment." (I Corinthians 1:9-10 cp Ephesians 4:3-6)

Sad to say, probably not until The Judgment Seat Of Christ, eh?
oops, sorry, that was Two...

GRACE and Peace!
