He had not been in Jerusalem for a while and had never seen or met the high priest.

“Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?” (Acts 23:3)

Paul knew he was in authority in the counsel. The same dignity was due him as the high priest. Paul just didn’t care for nor respected this sham trial.

Because Paul would have known who the authority in the council was by observing the arrangement of the attendees. Paul was well versed in their customs having been a Pharisee himself.
OK, by your own reasoning then.

Much love!

Would you have obeyed the judge/high priest and smacked the Apostle Paul?
Who knows?

Hypotheticals aren't real, and are plastic, moldable. Real life situations have nuance and depth, and the Holy Spirit giving us His leading.

Much love!

He was facing the council, but with his eyes, he couldn't tell who was who. Maybe he figured "obviously the High Priest himself wouldn't be commanding this!"

Much love!

The High Priest was a whited wall.

Paul was correct. He was merely appeasing onlookers when saying he didn’t know who he was. It’s obvious.

His shrewdness is finished with this clever move:

“But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.” (Acts 23:6)

Which caused that sham trial to be disrupted to the point of stopping it.

Nonsense (as usual).

You're actually claiming that Paul was lying?

P.S. Paul never used such bizarre language your quote from the KJV!

Fantasy, not reality!

Get yourself a modern translation! Perhaps you'll gain some understanding! (Perhaps not. You may be too far gone already.)

Do you read my posts?

Or just respond for the sake of reviling me?

Your ignorance of scripture continues to expose you.

Rahab lied to protect men of God.

She was spared God’s wrath at the hands of Joshua. A liar.

Your ignorance of scripture continues to expose you.

Rahab's lying has nothing to do with Paul's words.

You will go to any absurd length to argue, but you make no sense.

The church can't teach lies? It isn't that churches are teaching lies so much as it is that we're all, including leadership, growing up into the knowledge of God. It's a process:

"15All of us who are mature should embrace this point of view. And if you think differently about some issue, God will reveal this to you as well. 16Nevertheless, we must live up to what we have already attained." Philippians 3:15-16

"2I urge Euodia and Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord." Philippians 4:2

You seem to attend a different church than that which is portrayed in scripture, as I'm making abundantly clear.
I agree with you that "churches" (denominations) teach lies. But The Church that Jesus Christ started does not teach lies.....I am making that abundantly clear.

That is unless you think that The Church Jesus built does teach lies?

One must have the Spirit in order to discern what is truth and what is not, so, yes, you have to be truly saved (have the Holy Spirit in you) to, ultimately, know what is truth and what is not.
Generally, I agree with you.....I just wonder what happens to people who have never heard of Jesus? Will they be saved....

This is how it works... ↓↓↓

I was not implying in any way that the true church of God has no spiritual leadership. It does! Among all us believers that constitute the body of Christ are particular people appointed to fill various offices of authority................
Ok.....Sooooooo who are those people among "us believers" that have been "appointed" to the "offices of authority" in "the true church of God? I am a believer and I didn't vote to appoint anyone. Do you have names of these people? Or a phone number, address, website, email etc. I can contact them at?

All the members of Christ's body, the church.
Ferris. Seriously? o_O All members of a church are the pillar and foundation of truth? Even though they all have different truths? That is not even logical let alone biblical. Who taught you this?

And Satan will not prevail against ANY member of the church? NONE of them will go to hell? None of them will sin while here on earth? Once again not logical or biblical. Who taught you this?

And you've been taught by your men that they do.

What did God say about us trying to communicate with dead people?

Much love!
Hi Marks.

It does you no good to partially quote me and not address everything I wrote in that post. If God forbids us to communicate with dead people Jesus violated it in Luke 9!

What is being condemned in Scripture is conjuring up the dead through wizards and mediums!

What is the church that Jesus Christ started, in your opinion? And please, don't claim that it's the (unscriptural) Catholic denomination.

Ferris is 100% correct: all the members of Christ's body are the church. 1 Corinthians 12:27, "Now you are Christ’s body, and each of you is a member of it." Do you disagree with Scripture?

Jesus also touch a leprous man. Perhaps there is something more going on here?

God calls things that are not as though they are.

It's no good. You are not to be communicating with the dead. This is the Biblical teaching.

Much love!
