I already said why I need an excuse on the second page of this thread.
I missed that post.
Will your father threaten your continued stay if you go to church?
It sounds like spiritual extortion: shut up about Jesus or be thrown into the street...
If that is the case, it sounds like you need to make better living arrangements if you want to walk/live out your faith.

The problem is I don't know how. I am considering suspending religion all together until/unless my life starts to get better.
Know what? Just try something different, anything. (Anything not illegal or counter to Christian teachings, that is). You take the first step, trust God to take the next step. Hell, what do you have to lose anymore?

Unlikely, but like I said he would probably try to stop me. At worst I would probably get ranted about. Or at least, I hope that is the worst that would happen.

It might be hard for me to find a church anyway. I didn't mention this because I wasn't sure if I would get hate because of this but I am gay and most of the accepting denominations usually go outside of my values.

Very good point. Maybe, even though I have been waiting for decades, I haven't been waiting long enough?

Gasp! Are we allowed to use that kind of language here?

Unrepentant homosexuality will certainly stifle your spiritual growth, too (just like unrepentant hetero-adultery will).

I was expecting a response like this. I know what I am about to say might sound controversial and I know many people will probably ask "how?" but it would actually help me spiritually if I had a boyfriend. It would definitely help the healing process between me and God and it would be a sign God actually cares about me, at least it would be to me. I know it wouldn't take away all my problems, but at least I would have someone by my side. Besides, how can I understand that God loves me when I don't even know what it is like to be loved by someone outside of my family.

Besides, it is not like I am going to be bed hopping from guy to guy.

Yeah.

It's up to you to make the decision to either seek out God or not.

God is not angry or upset with you, or anyone. Jesus Christ has paid for all of the worlds sins, and because of this anyone who places their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. They become justified and can have peace with God by faith, and in their life it should change from a life of desiring to live by the flesh, to hate, to be greedy, to manipulate, to abuse other people. Rather the born again person starts to seek out the Spiritual things, over the fleshly. To live by faith, and walk by the spirit - to have patience, love, kindness, forgiveness, faithfulness, praying for our enemies, and I believe God desires for all people to come to this knowledge of truth.

Even though I want what I used to have with God back, I think I should try to accept that things are never going to go back to the way they were and that I will probably spend the rest of my life shifting between being at peace with God and angry at him. Is it mre realistic if I just try to accept this?

All people have sinned in their life. However the sin of a gay lifestyle is not forgiveable. This is what Roman 1 says, that gay people are worthy of death, and it was true also in the old testament. People who are living a gay life, God has given them over to a reprobate mind. Only God can grant you to repent and have faith as He is in the faith business. IF you listen to modern worldly Chritianity, some may tell you God is pleased with you being gay, but HE most definitely is not and God's angels will cast you into hell.

You know being a christian requires a change in the heart and also to not do the things God does not approve of, such as things worthy of death.

It does not get any clearer that homosexuality is also known as sexual immorality. All sin is sin, but the sin against the body is a worse sin for Christians.

Romans 1
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

This is a letter written to the church by the apostle Paul talking also about these things.
1 Corinthians 6
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Glorify God in Body and Spirit
12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 13 Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.

15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

After this one I am not going to respond to any homophobic responses. I would not have even respondes to this one but I think I should make a statement before anyone else tries to make me think otherwise.

I find it hard to believe people go to Hell jsut for being gay. If God allows people who commit murder to go to Heaven (the Apostle Paul, formerly Saul of Tarsus for example), he is not going to send someone to Hell just for doing something completely harmless that two adults consent to. Especially gay Christians who believe in him. This way of thinking hurts Christianity in my opinion because it only helps atheists and other people who hate us to paint us as savages, and it has driven a countless number of people away Jesus.

Nothing anyone says is going to turn me from being gay. Popular opinion might say otherwise but being gay is not a choice. I will maintain that my relationship with God would be stronger if I could date other men.

I would also like to point out that God is love. I don't see how it can be evil for a man to feel love (the very embodiment of God) for another man, or for a woman to feel love for another woman.

That is a fair point but odds are even the best of Christians can die being unrepented of some kind of sin.
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein...?" Romans 6:1-2 NKJV

God commands repentance. Unless you repent and believe what God says, you can not be saved.

Your former way of life is of no consequence after you repent and believe in Christ and follow what God says.
God in Paul's case granted him mercy as Paul was ignorant of the ways of God.
1 Timothy 1:12-14
New King James Version

Glory to God for His Grace
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

However, willful sinning when we know in our hearts what God has said, is very bad.
We then get to suffer his rebuke and correction and it might even kill us. Such a thing happened to people who did not treat the Lord's supper, his death and resurrection, his suffering for us to have new eternal life with respect. Christ will do that also for us so that we do not perish along with the world.
1 Corinthians 11:17-33
What true loving Father does not chastise his child when they cause grievous harm to themselves by being bad and hurting others also. A bad father will just let his child do whatever they wish, and that is not love, shows total lack of caring. With God, you can safely entrust yourself to Him to do what is right for His family. When you repent of your sins and believe in Christ, only then can you experience true peace and loving guidance as only then is God your heavenly father. The non-saved unbelieving person does not have God as their Father and are not of the family of God and cannot expect peace and love from heaven for them. And that is entirely fair.

People will either have God as their Father, or they are of their father the devil.

John 8

34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Abraham’s Seed and Satan’s
37 “I know that you are Abraham’s descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you. 38 I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your father.”

39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.”

Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 41 You do the deeds of your father.”

Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father—God.”

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

In an attempt to steer this conversation back on topic, it doesn't matter if being gay is a sin. As horrible as it sounds, I believe that God genuinely hates me and will likely send me to Hell no matter what I do. I can't even begin to think that God loves me and it wouldn't matter how holy I am or how I live my life. It feels like he wants to destroy me and that he does not want any kind of relationship with me.

I saw your suggestions the first time you posted them. It has already been established that I can't just go to church, I am not really interested in the Bible at this point, and I consider prayer to almost be a complete waste of time since God apparently does not care about me.
John 14.6 (famous verse....)

So are you saying that your way is better than God's, friend?

That is the Fear of God that accompanies unrepentant sin in His presence.

After Ananias & Sapphira fell dead just by lying in His Presence (not greed),
"...great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things." Acts of the Apostles 5:11 NKJV
