I'm seriously considering becoming Catholic. Would that make me bad? I mean, I know I'm not good, but would that make me worse than I am now?

Find a local Bible-orientated fellowship. Read the Word of God. . . often. Bibles shouldn't need dust covers. :) Pray and ask God to direct your path.

May the Peace of God be with you.

Why on earth would you want to belong to some religious organisation and be taught by men, when you have being given the hOly spirit to teach you the truth. Your salvation is in Christ alone,

Joh 14:5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1Co 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
1Co 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Pau

Luk_11:17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

God did not create religion, it was created by men to bring men into bondage, Our freedom is in Christ.

In His abundant Love

You have no idea at all and that is just slander you are fishing.
The Pope does not say anything as such at all.
Prove it that that is what he is on about like where does he say you should do as such.
Now listen mate i was informed all this type of slanderous hog wash you are putting forward and i believed the rubbish you are stating to once, but i did look into what there doctrines are and the fact is you are a slanderer and if people are to stupid and lazie to seek the truth so be it on there head.
That been said some RC may do so but they are Fools.

Would you be one of the ones that Killed Jesus to ?
No earthly man, some thought him so ?
So when Jesus comes again you would do the same to him ?

Peter was the first Pope and that's biblical or why would Jesus call him Peter right from the start, maybe Jesus had it wrong you say ?
Jesus knew who was who.
Or is it that you don't like any authority and i am sure Satan does not like any who may oppose his craftiness as well.
Why run around crying about the Pope are you frightened or hang on ? you don't like any opposition.
We deal with the works of Satan every day i am sure the pope is not any big bother for you or is it him that leads the whole world astray or is it your lot.
Talk about Christians fighting Christians get over it ! and do something in the name of Jesus for once.

The OP chose a very poor subject title for this thread. "Why is Catholicism so bad?" would have been a far better title. Moderators, is there any way to change the title of a thread?

Though I have been one of the harshest critics of Catholicism in this thread, I unabashedly profess that there are many good Catholic brethren. I voted for Patrick J. Buchanan twice for President of the United States over his Protestant candidates. I also highly admired the late journalist, writer and absolutely brilliant social commentator with the National Review, Joe Sobran. The theological writings of G.K. Chesterton and speeches of Father Charles Coughlin and Bishop Fulton Sheen were also superb.

There's nothing wrong IMO with Catholics that a careful study of the Word of God can't cure.

Why are Catholics so bad?

In Revelation Two, Jesus speaks about a class of people, who dominate and oppress the body; "Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate."; and again in verse 15:
Revelation 2:15
"So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans." He goes on to say that He will make war against them." Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth. ".

Jesus does not hate, or reject those in bondage to deception, but does hate the teaching and the deeds of that teaching. Catholic people are in bondage, much the same way that Islam, Buddhism or Hinduism enslaves the billions; by presenting a crooked way to God as the Truth, and creating a rigid and exclusive dogma to reinforce it. This causes peoples to believe a lie, act on a lie, and thereby be lost. Jesus came to set the captives free. [ Isaiah 61 ]

Boiling down the many heresies of the RCC is quite a job, like shaking a stick at the wall; Where do you start? First, the title of the Pope; VICAR, along with the doctrine [ teaching ] of the catechisms [ written doctrines and values] means that he is the sole ambassador , and acting head of Christ on Earth; he claims, and is reinforced to be infallible, just like Jesus, and Catholic really means Universal....so, the Pope sees himself, as do other devout Catholics, as the unique and elite, SOLE head of the Holy church on the Earth.

If you cannot believe a system could be so immensely arrogant, and serious about this, read Foxes book of Martyrs. Tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, were butchered and murdered cruelly because they rejected this office as their head in Christ. Then, by empirical manifestation of that power, we see a vast hierarchy that likewise must enforce this hideous lie of the power and position of the Pope; the Cardinals, the Bishops, the Fathers and the mothers, and the tentacles of various arms that constantly pursue more. It is wicked, insidious, and murderous; It cannot be of God. It is Satan's machinery for sure; the fruit cries out.

Add to this the Mediatrix, the Power of the One who touches God in human form. It is not Jesus who forever intercedes, and interacts in the affairs of men, it is a mortal who became immortal, Mother Mary, the "Mother of God herself". Must we believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God, or this profane, superstitious dogma, contrived by power hungry despots? This, we must all decide. Can you say that the veneration worship of Mary as the Mediator is profane, and that as the "Queen of Heaven, in usurping Jesus's rightful place as the King of glory, that she is nothing more than a devil. When you honor Mary in this way, and pray and honor her, you honor Jezebel; Astarte, the Demon queen of Heaven herself.

It is starkly unbiblical, and wicked, and at the heart of what Babylon really is; the worship of the host of fallen Heaven; the ancient system of demon worship contrived by Satan through Nimrod from Millenia past.

Add to this the magic act of the Priest class to have the sole power to turn the wine into real blood and the wafer into real skin and bones of the Lord Jesus, and the ever bleeding Lamb of God on the crucifix, who eternally bleeds for you and me.......[ He is not risen?]...and the veneration of the demon idols, on and on and on.....and you have the largest, most enslaving cult in the history of Mankind. In all this, though, we must remember, that God so loved the world...and particularly Roman Catholics enslaved by the lies of their Nicolaitan Fathers; the Popery.

I don't think Catholics are bad. We are Christians and love Christ, now some will not be like that just like in Protestantism there are some people that are not good

Well, I could spend hours straightening out all the misunderstandings and falsehoods you have brought up in your post, but we have read them all before. You have chosen to view Catholic doctrine in a twisted manner for whatever reason - it certainly rewards your vanity. If you were serious about addressing these issues or even having a civil, mutually informed discussion with a member of the Catholic faith, you would not come to a conservative Protestant forum to do so.

So I leave you to enjoy your sought after applause.

Rather than address the issues I have brought up, my Character is maligned, and ignorance, and twisted faith is implied. I am not necessarily interested in an informed discussion with a member of the Catholic Faith; they will come out of deception, or they will remain in it, but no human argument will set them, or you free. I am interested in aligning my discernment with the Holy Bible's doctrines that defies the tenants of Roman Catholicism more than any other; it is a religion that rejects the Word of God carte-blanche, and the Holy Spirit of God as Lord and sits defiant in wicked heresy as a norm, as I have stated in my first post.

If you, are them, have chosen to believe a lie, only the Holy Spirit may deliver you, and I simply am stating reality as I see it? So, do you venerate the Catholic Mary as the Mother of God, and do you pray to her, as an ever present one?..
"Hail Mary!"

Do you honor the Pope as the Vicar of Christ and the head of the Universal church, and there-by infallible in his judgments? Yes, or No! It is simple answer, and do you present yourself to men to absolve your sin? or do you present yourself to Jesus Himself by faith? Jesus and His Apostles preached these truths, and deferred from useless debates; they clung to the Word.

"But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. Reject a factious man after a first and second warning." You obviously do not honor the Word of God over your belief system; I do. Bring the Holy word of God to me, that refutes one thing I have stated, and I will consider responding.

Your arrogant slander of me as to "seeking a reward to my vanity", and "my sought after applause", while totally ignoring the issues, which are indefensible for you in reality, and this belies your own animosity when confronted by truth; after all, this is only my opinion, according to my view of the Word of God.

If you remain in a system that denies God, and the Lordship of His Holy Son, in lieu of another counterfeit Lord, you will be lost.

Finally, you wrote;
" If you were serious about addressing these issues or even having a civil, mutually informed discussion with a member of the Catholic faith, you would not come to a conservative Protestant forum to do so." ...by????

Uhhh, Where would I then go, pray tell me. Perhaps I should go to THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY FORUM to post my protestant faith, and my views about Papal heresy? By the way, do you realize what PROTESTANT really means, and who? were these people protesting against when the WORD WAS COINED? They were protesting against the wicked Dominion of the Roman Catholic church.

"Anyone who has read Foxes Book of Martyrs, or similar historical records of the cruel persecutions endured by the Waldensians, the Huguenots and other Protestant reformers, will know that the Inquisition was anti-Christian. The Inquisition occurred at a time of blatant corruption, when priesthoods, bishoprics and even papal seats were bought and sold.

There were many ungodly men dominating all levels of leadership in the medieval Roman church. Far from the Inquisition being Christians persecuting non-Christians, the reality is that it was the very opposite. The Inquisition was an anti-Christian persecution of Protestant believers.........http://onceuponacross.blogspot.com/2010/03/what-every-christian-should-know-about.html

Simmer Down.

By your own admission, you are not interested in the fate of your Catholic brothers and sisters, yet you are maligning Catholic doctrine, for what purpose? Without a purpose for using the same old tired Protestant arguments which were refuted hundreds of years ago, there is no other obvious reason... ego needs a boost. Your use of caps throughout your post screams volumes about your humility - I also noticed you capitalized 'Character' when speaking of yourself - I think the correct term is 'ego'

I have already addressed all the misrepresentations of Catholic teachings countless times on other threads. specifically "Ask a Catholic" please refer to it, hmm...that's right, you are only asking me now in order to prove that you are right and i am wrong - there is no glory in looking up past responses.

Carry on.

Hi Brother Tom - this is anonymous *advanced* member,

I agree with you. I thought I was saying the same thing. I think the meaning of the term 'born again' is more important that the actual phrase. I doubt that Jesus will ask for the secret code word 'born again' at the judgement before letting us in.

We need His Justification and Sanctifying work in our lives to transform our souls into citizens of Heaven.

I agree that relying on institutional religion to transform the heart is futile.

The teachings of Catholicism are bad.

Catholic people if they are born again are part of the church.

You should do some research into what Catholicism teaches. It will shock you.

Thanks, JLB

Indeed! I was so shocked I become Catholic as quickly as possible :)

All Catholics are born again by spirit and water during baptism.

John 3

[sup]3 [/sup]Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[sup][a][/sup]”

[sup]4 [/sup]“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

[sup]5 [/sup]Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
