So the AoD happened before Jesus was born when Herod allowed the Roman army to set up shop on the temple mount. It was the Roman army. (Luke 21:20)
Christ stopped the sacrifice at Calvary. In 70 AD He destroyed Jerusalem, using the Roman army as His instrument of judgment and desolation. (Luke 21:20)
That's not in Daniel 9, and does not describe the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
The desolation wrought by the Roman army AoD began after the Christians fled, and continued through 70 AD.
The Holy of Holies was rendered obsolete at the Cross. Jerusalem was rendered desolate in 70 AD. God granted the intervening years of mercy to Israel before the 70 AD desolation. Why? Because He is a God of mercy.
Or was it only a certain Roman army?
You do realize the Roman army had occupied Jerusalem for over a hundred years from 63BC, no?
