God was always merciful and adjusted His expectations according to our weakness.

Many here think that Jesus had to die to make God merciful. This is a lie and an affront to God's character.

The New Covenant is the power of a resurrection life as from the dead...to fulfill the law as Jesus did. It is to walk in the same power over sin that Jesus walked in.

Anything less than that is a slight on grace.
I'm just astounded. God adjusted His expectations according to our weaknesses?? The audacity and blindness of those who name His name yet make up their own religion and rewrite the word of God, is just astounding.


1Co 6:9-11

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

Yes, God is merciful and His mercy was revealed from heaven and has a name....He is called Jesus Christ, the Son of God. And that mercy is shown to all who call upon His name (regardless of race and skin colour). Never in scripture, after 37 years of reading the bible have I ever gotten the impression that the Lord "adjusts His expectations according to our weaknesses" but quite the opposite. He is holy and has to be true to Himself, and has made a way that man might be made holy and conform to Him, not He conform and adjust to the weaknesses of mankind. You are confusing the mercy of God with His longsuffering and His longsuffering has a shelf life, an expiry date for everyone. As per Ps. 90 and 2Peter 3.

That is an accurate assessment.
I'm just wondering this morning if it happened because rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.....maybe the rebellion of the youth in those days opened a door to those eastern spirits of mysticism, which themselves are a type of witchcraft and occult. So many people in society do yoga and meditation now and have buddha statues around their homes, and now marijuana use is mainstream too (which was used in idol worship - that came from the east too). Those spirits have taken over and our western nations are beginning to reap the same consequences/curses as the nations those spirits came from, unless people turn back to God. So much for Him "adjusting His expectations according to our weaknesses". And of course God is no respecter of persons....it doesn't matter what colour anyone's skin happens to be, the same sins reap the same curses regardless of race. (That should go without saying, yet for some around here apparently it needs to be said - shaking my head.)

Personally, I'm at least as shocked about this downgrading of God as you are in allowing God to be merciful.

What if Jesus came to give us the power to walk at God's standard? What if God was always merciful...but desired fellowship at a higher level...where people could survive in His holiness?

As a minister of God, I seek to reconcile people to God at HIS level...by grace through faith. NOT try to reason away or dumb down God's standard so that more people can be accepted.

The righteousness level of acceptance with God has always existed. Otherwise no man could be seen as righteous. But human righteousness is based on a godly character trapped in weakness....and insufficiency.

The gospel is about the power to overcome that deficiency (by giving us His resurrection life in the perfection of holiness)... so that we can take our place with Jesus before God...He being the first of many brethren.

He IS merciful indeed.....He provided the Lamb, that whosoever will might obtain mercy.

Don't assume you know more than everyone else. Judge with honesty and a right appraisal...ready to cede points if they are valid.

Gods elect have holy spirit and understand mystery of God. Without holy spirit, the individual has blinders on. Colossians 1:26. Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to His saints. The word saints means = set aside ones. Its Gods Election. The election are here in this last generation. Every generation has few elect. Abraham is God's elect, moses, Joshua, samuel prophet, Jeremiah prophet, Elijah, Deborah, king David, Solomon, all the prophets and apostles. Today, their teachers and pastors. First Corinthians 1:1. Let a man so account of us, as of the minister of christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. The position for Elect can't be volunteered for. The election are predestined, chosen before foundation of the world. You need holy spirit to understand the mystery of God. God placed spirit of slumber on some people. Some people can't be trusted with the holy spirit. Jesus chose His election in first earth age and that's God's decision. PROGINOSKO in Greek means = foreknew, ordain to know beforehand. Kletos in Greek means = saint, called. Psalm 25:14. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him; and He will shew them His covenant. The holy spirit reveals understanding and wisdom. Those with spirit of stupor have thier eyes closed. So the mystery of God is hidden to those who have spirit of slumber. EKLETOS in Greek means = divine Selection. Jesus chose the election in the first earth age. Again, the position for Elect can't be volunteered for. Isaiah chapter 6;9. Go, and tell this people, hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Christ has become stumbling block to some people. They can wrestle and grapple all they want. They have spirit of slumber. They have blindrss on.. NUMN in Hebrew means = Slumber. If Jesus gave some people holy spirit, they would use it to take advantage of others. Or just waste their gifts and abilities. God knows His children. Jesus has the final say who gets holy spirit or spirit of stupor.

Gandhi did the very opposite. He believed Jesus and His words rang true to him...so he followed the teachings of Christ. What he didn't do was claim to be righteous because of it. He claimed no religious benefit to obeying Christ.

The mystery of God is the gospel that was hid. Those who don't understand and obey it are the unsaved...so they are not the elect therefore.

But it seems to me God gives the Holy Spirit even to those who He knows are going to misuse it. The gifts and callings are without repentance. Think we see an example of this in the bible with those who were exercising gifts of the Spirit the way they saw fit, but weren't doing the will of God, being submitted to His will and way and leading. "Lord, Lord", didn't we cast out demons and do miracles in your name? And Jesus said away from me you who work iniquity...only those who do the will of the Father will inherit the kingdom. We see this with big-name ministers on television who have spiritual gifts but are making merchandise of the people with them and ambitiously building their own kingdoms rather than the kingdom of God. If you listen to their testimonies, I believe many start out with a genuine conversion but then gradually become deceived and drawn by temptations.

Not sure I'm understanding one part of your post there...are you saying that only teachers and pastors are elect? There were more faithful in Israel under the old covenant than were named in the bible. At one point the Lord told Elijah that He had reserved 7000 who had not bent the knee to Baal even though there aren't 7000 old testament saints of Elijah's generation named in the bible .....and I don't think there is any reason to assume they were all prophets or priests but many could have been ordinary righteous God-fearing Jews going about their daily lives in a manner and heart that was pleasing to God.

That reminds me of both the Roman Catholic selling of indulgences, as well as today's hard sell of "sowing into the ministry" in order to receive healing and financial help, etc. No wonder the true gospel was and still is good news to the poor!

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Amen. It's all about HIM. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. There is no other way and no other name under Heaven by which man can be saved. The Lord once overlooked and longsuffered man's idolatry and sin, but now commands ALL men to REPENT of it and turn to Christ!

The message of salvation in Christ is very simple-don't complicate this with guitar "scales"-
Amen those men rejected Him and His forgiveness for their sins as Savior, Lord and God. Unless one believes He is I Am (YHWH) they will die in their sins( John 8:24 ) and one must confess He is YHWH/Lord to be saved ( Romans 10:9-14 cf Joel 2:32).

They believed in a false christ, false god and a false gospel of salvation. They believed in their own self righteousness and rejected the Righteousness that is only found in Christ.

That reminds me of both the Roman Catholic selling of indulgences, as well as today's hard sell of "sowing into the ministry" in order to receive healing and financial help, etc. No wonder the true gospel was and still is good news to the poor!
