And all i did was respond with Jesus's commentary regarding going to hell.
You respond to Jesus’ commentary with no understanding at all as to what “Gehenna” is, and how it differs from “hades”. These words, both translated as “hell” bear no resemblance to what these words mean in their original language.
Its only the body that goes into the gave.. The spirit does not.
Again you conflate the “soul” with the “spirit”….two different words in both Hebrew and Greek, with two different meanings, which are not interchangeable.
All living breathing creatures are called “souls” in the Genesis account…..and the first man was formed bodily, but needed something to animate his lifeless body…what does it say in Genesis?
From the Jewish Tanakh….
Gen 2:7…
”And the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and He breathed into his nostrils the soul of life, and man became a living soul.” (CJB)
“Soul” in Hebrew is “neʹphesh” and in Greek, “psy·kheʹ”.…and neither of these words are used to refer to a disembodied spirit. With the “breath of life” Adam
became a “living soul”.
In both languages, these words refer to that which is material, tangible, visible, and mortal.
The “breath of life” that animates all souls is the “spirit“…..animals and humans all have the same spirit or breath…as Solomon wrote in Eccl 3:19-20….(CJB)
”For there is a happening for the children of men, and there is a happening for the beasts-and they have one happening-like the death of this one is the death of that one, and all have one spirit, and the superiority of man over beast is nought, for all is vanity. All go to one place; all came from the dust, and all return to the dust.”
The “spirit” is not an entity of itself, but is the animating force that keeps all “souls” living. When breathing stops…all souls die. (Ezek 18:4)
So how far has Christendom strayed from the truth in promoting their adopted belief in an immortal soul that supposedly leaves the body at death in a conscious state? It is not a biblical belief at all, but a pagan adoption.
Satan has perpetuated his first lie….”you surely will not die”…and all false religion teaches it.
The Resurrection is for the "bride of Christ."... the born again.......so, God has already accepted their faith and given them "the Gift of Righteousness".
The resurrection is what Jesus and his apostles demonstrated in the first century to show the Jewish people what a resurrection was…….not the soul being made alive in spirit form, but a raising to life in human form….a return to their former life, not the burying of a body in a grave or tomb, and a spiritual entity leaving to go somewhere else. There is no “somewhere else to go” for the majority of the human race who have died since Abel.
They were sleep to sleep in death until Messiah established his kingdom. That was the Jewish belief….Messiah would come (supposedly in a blaze of glory) and reestablish God’s rulership with his people being “a priesthood and a holy nation” over all the nations. Jesus didn’t fit the model they had been told to expect, but the Jewish leadership had a comfortable niche in the Roman Empire and we’re afraid of losing it.
The raising of Lazarus is one of the most related resurrection stories, yet very few have read the details surrounding it.
Here is an exercise for you and those who are interested….
Read the account in John 11:1-53 and consider the details this account contains….
Answer these questions….from the account.
Why did Jesus not go straight away and prevent his friend from dying? He deliberately waited for 4 days before he went to him. (Verse 4)
When he did journey there to the home of Lazarus and his sisters, what did he tell his disciples about Lazarus and what mistake did they make. (Vs 11-15)
What did Jesus tell Martha about her brother and what was her response. What was “the resurrection on the last day” that she spoke of? (Vs 20-23)
What did Jesus say to her? And what was her response? Remembering that these were Jews. (Vs 25-27)
What did those gathered say when Mary joined them? (Vs 33-37)
What are the details of the resurrection itself, and did Jesus call Lazarus from somewhere else to re-enter his body? (Vs 38-44) Did Lazarus have something to say about where he had been?
What transpired once the Pharisees heard of this miracle? (Vs 47-53) Verse 48 betrays their motive.
Once you have a clear picture of the Jewish view of the resurrection, you can see where Christendom took that and twisted it all out of shape…it bears no resemblance to what Jesus taught at all.
There is no "original".
There are about 30 "extant" Greek texts, and at least one Hebrew NT, and of course the Latin.
So, the bible is the word of God, not some false "origianal" ........as the only "original" would be the Apostle's letters, and there are none of those "originals".....in existance.
If you believe that the Bible is the word of God, and that his great power created the Universe, then what stretch of the imagination does it take to understand that he has the power to preserve his word down through thousands of years of human history, despite numerous attempts to destroy it?
It has survived with its message intact despite translation into many languages…..the wording may alter slightly from language to language, but the message never does.
You have run out of excuses. And your silence is deafening when it comes to the hard question because you have nothing but your own indoctrination, in which there are no real scriptural answers…
