Again – I never mentioned the Catholic Church. What you are missing, in your defensive response, is that your church, which was instituted in the 4th century after Christ’s death, was never “the church” that Christ started in the first place. It was a sad and erroneous counterfeit, already predicted by Jesus himself. The “weeds” of Jesus parable.
“By their fruits” Jesus said. Their fruits as well as the Protestants, was abominable.
Christianity was never about bloodshed or torture. It was the religion of peace…..headed by the “Prince of Peace”.
I simply pointed out your heretical claim that Christ’s Church was “destroyed” – when Jesus Himself said that it would NEVER be destroyed.
WHY do you disagree with Him??
WHY is He a LIAR in your eyes?
I’m NOT talking about the teachings of Jesus.“Heresy” is basically what they called Jesus’ teachings, but who were the real “heretics”?….the ones pointing the fingers, who held the majority view.…and who supposedly worshipped the same God.
Can you see the pattern? The “heretical“ minority were in the right but the controlling majority were in the wrong.
I’m talking about YOUR heresy that Jesus is a LIAR.
I asked you to give me Biblical proof for the false Protestant invention of Sola Scriptura.Well since you asked…..
Jesus said to his God and Father….
”I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.“ (John 17:14-18 NRSV Catholic Edition)
If you can’t provide any – just say so . . .
Certainly NOT me . . .Who said that relying on the word of God was wrong?
This is patently FALSE - and you have ZERO proof of this.Only the Catholic Church as far as Christian history is concerned.
But, you anti-Catholics usually make false accusations . . .
Jesus and the Apostles ALSO relied on ORAL TRADITION . . .Jesus himself relied on Scripture to teach his disciples. The apostles quoted OT Scripture in their teachings, so where did the church get the idea that it was somehow able to be superseded by a man who occupied the highest position in the Vatican to introduce all manner of unscriptural doctrines. There was no hierarchy in first century Christianity….all were equals.
Peter was one of the 12 and all held equal status from God’s point of view.
Matt. 2:23 - the prophecy "He shall be a Nazarene" is ORAL TRADITION. It is not found in the Old Testament. This demonstrates that the apostles relied upon oral tradition and taught by oral tradition.
Matt 23:2 - Jesus relies on the ORAL TRADITION of acknowledging Moses' seat of authority (which passed from Moses to Joshua to the Sanhedrin). This is not recorded in the Old Testament.
1 Cor. 10:4 - Paul relies on the ORAL TRADITION of the rock following Moses. It is not recorded in the Old Testament. See Exod. 17:1-17 and Num. 20:2-13.
2 Timothy 3:8 - Paul relies on the ORAL TRADITION when speaking of Pharoah’s magicians, Jannes and Jambres. Their names are not recorded in the Old Testament.
Heb. 11:37 - the author of Hebrews relies on the ORAL TRADITION of the martyrs being sawed in two. This is not recorded in the Old Testament.
Jude 9 - Jude relies on the ORAL TRADITION of the Archangel Michael's dispute with satan over Moses' body. This is not found in the Old Testament.
Jude 14-15 - Jude relies on the ORAL TRADITION of Enoch's prophecy which is not recorded in the Old Testament.
Scripture IS Authoritative – and so id Christ’s Church.
In fact – the NT directly speaks more about the Church’s Authority than the Authority of Scripture (Matt. 16:18-19, Matt. 18:15-18, Luke 10:16, John 16:12-15, John 20:21-23).
Yup.Christianity has one leader and that is Jesus Christ.
WRONG.God has one form of substantiated communication with mankind and that is his written word…..the words of men cannot be substantiated…nor was there anything like a pope in first century Christianity. The Bible is our only source of truth…one truth that all must wholeheartedly accept. (1 Cor 1:10)
Not only have I proven you wrong with 7 examples (above), the Canon of Scripture itself is a Tradition from the Church. NOWHERE in Scripture are we givel a list of Books. That was decided in the 4th century by the Catholic Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit – just like Jesus promised in John 16:12-15.
Please provide Biblical support for the false 16th century Protestant invention of Sola Scriptura . . .
