Thanks, that is much clearer. However, I don't agree that Paul fought baptism. He did actually baptise some people, for example the Philippian jailer in Acts 16, and those he mentions here:

(1Co 1:14) I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
(1Co 1:15) lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name.
(1Co 1:16) Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other.

If he fought baptism, why did he baptise the jailer, Crispus, Gaius and the household of Stephanus?

(I expect if the idea of baptismal regeneration had been around then, he would have fought that, but not baptism itself.)

I have heard the idea that baptism is the equivalent of Old Testament circumcision, but it isn't. Only boys were circumcised. It's not only boys and men who are baptized. And the circumcision that is required of the Christian is what the bible calls "circumcision of the heart":

(Rom 2:28) For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh;
(Rom 2:29) but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.

in context, the phrase “circumcise your heart” is used to describe inner transformation, removing stubbornness, rebellion, and hardness so that a person can genuinely love and obey God from within, not just outwardly.

Now what happened to baptism? *Hermeneutics. Water baptism follows believing and salvation.
