I find it funny that so many write about us 'having to' keep the law.

Here's something I posted awhile ago. If it pertains to the issue, good. If it doesn't, never mind. :)

***********************************************************************************************************************

People seem to forget these passages even exist. Gentiles aren't required to uphold the physical attributes of the Mosaic Law.

Mark 12
31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Romans 13
10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Galatians 5
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

What are the physical attributes of love? What does one have to physically do to show love?

No riddles...

therein lies the problem - most Christians have accepted and speak in riddles - so relying on them or oneself is bound to be full of riddles and ridiculous - so just see what the bible has to say as to what love really is[1Jn 4:10/Lk 6:27&32] - twinc

Thank you for sharing your testimony. Like you and your wife, my husband and I are also looking for something different. Not a different doctrine or break from others, but the genuine love you speak of. I don't like staring at the back of someone's head either. I long for fellowship. I care about you and the others as well. People ask me why I bother posting on a forum, when it all seems so impersonal. Church inside a building can also be impersonal. I am asked why I don't go out into the community and try to do something that matters. I am here until God says otherwise. To me, this forum matters. Sometimes, I scroll through visitors and what threads they view:

"Why doesn't God heal amputees?"
"Please, pray God lets me die."
"Why did God make me ugly?"
"Why does God hate me?"

There are a lot of hurting people in the world. There are a lot of people that come here, near giving up and curious if there really is any love or anyone that cares. We need more men like you, Truth. May God bless you and your wife with fellowship, service, and longevity.

2 Peter 1:2-8 KJV
[2] Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, [3] According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: [4] Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. [5] And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. [8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We weren't looking for a new Doctrine, we were looking for the truth! in the new testament there is a verse that claims that if you can convert a scribe, He will bring out of His household treasures both Old and New! there is also an end time Prophecy, that goes like this ! In the last days 10 men from every nation, will grab hold of the Garment of a Jew, and say Let Us go With You, For We Know That God Is With You.<><><><> one last statement, there is also an end time Prophecy that states, In the Last Days the Gentiles will Cry Out, and say surly we have Inherited Lies from our Forefathers thing that are not of God at all, that they are of no profit. not quite the way it goes but it will be easy to find, in one of the later Prophets! I believe that God spoke through His Prophet's, and will keep what was spoken!

How do those passages negate anything I've posted in this thread?

i have done this, too, and i suggest that it might be read with other eyes. These are perspectives that are being addressed, and you are expecting them to manifest in the way that they are presented, when that might not be the case.

I'm not even sure how you get from there to here, tbh. Fasting helped.
I believe we are all amazed how He gets us from one 'place' to another and just how patient He has to be with us, because first we have to be willing, and we're not always as willing as we would like to think we are lol

Good question indeed...can it be defined easily?
Isn't it more a heart thing?
Love is not much good to anyone if never expressed...some kids never know or hear the words confirming love to them.
In fact my parents never once ever told us kids verbally that they loved us..I never heard it from them once. ( back then it didn't seem to be the done thing...stiff upper lip British and all that)
But somehow I never had a single doubt that I was loved by them.....hmmm I wonder why?

Very good question Job.
I must think on this more ( which in my case probably means " I will ask my husband" lol )

Some years ago, having realized that what I thought of as love, wasn't quite the same as Jesus' Love, I started asking and asking.....Once I heard Him say :" Love is an 'action' Word." Bit by bit over a long time I'm understanding it more, and how we do get some things a bit twisted, because of our human ways seeming right to us, until shown otherwise .
So we can have feelings of love but His Love is always based on action...Compassion can and should move us to Love, as one example...It is the biggest subject of all that I have come across with Him and seems to mean the most to Him also.
If we could but truly comprehend Gods Love, we wouldn't all be tied up in all sorts of different 'knots', whether to do with our lives, someones else's life, religions, work etc. etc..........If we want to become fit for the Masters use, that is one hurdle we cannot ignore and imho the hardest thing for a human being to actually do....

There is on old adage! it goes like this! Actions speak louder than words, Love is an action word, so when we love we do, Prayer, help, feed, clothing, visit, support others or weaker vessels, and in doing this we do it to our Savior!

I hope you do not leave us altogether Victory, Your posts are a blessing, they are so refreshing to me as you get to the root of Christianity "LOVE"...I have learned to avoid the controversial posts as I do not like that spirit...it is NOT from God if not spoken in Love. And, you are correct in saying that

"Church inside a building can also be impersonal." That is the whole reason I sought out this forum...I did not feel connected to many in my Church...but with much prayer, and encouragement from a good handful of LOVING Christians on this site, I find that I can't wait until next Sunday, will be the 1st time since May 30th that I will be going back, have been laid up...so, I do believe God sent me to this site because, since finding it, I have learned a whole lot...I pray for discernment all the time, and pray for all on here as well as my local body to realize God's Love in their lives! I hope you do not stay away too long.
In His Name,

I am confused: do threads belong to God; for His glory and purposes...or are we here solely to speak of our own righteousness? So often, those that lack understanding(for instance me), those feeble-minded, slow, confused but love God and have a desire to know Him; are easily dismissed. So often those lacking "intelligence" are told to go sit at another table. So often those that are considered not "like-minded" are told they are not worth the time or effort.

Matthew 22:37-40 KJV
[37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself
There seems to be an awful lot of: loving thyself.
All those "perfect law keepers" that never sin in "the flesh"...you have just broken the second commandment when you tell someone seeking to go away. And you do it over and over without any guilt or rebuke from the Spirit?

Where are the wise men to lead and teach and guide those that lack?
Where are the under shepherds?
Where are the Fathers?

1 Corinthians 4:15
For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

Where is love?
Where is patience?
Where are the fruits of the Spirit?

An example: the Brought to Remembrance Thread where someone begins a thread with a verse that encourages submission unto leaders.

-Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as those who must give account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

-And the thread goes like this:

-What is the point of this thread?

-If you have to ask, then it must not be for you. It shall speak to those it needs to speak unto.

-M'kay, I thought the purpose of a forum was to have discussion, not for those who wish to be self righteous pricks. Quite the 'community' we got here hey..........
clip_image001.png

-Ummm, thank you? Don't worry, I won't be around as much shortly. Life has other plans for my time. It is the result of a couple of small calamities that gave me the time I currently have. I do wish you the best.

-Well........have a nice life pal.

Should not the "intelligent" help those that lack understanding first, instead saying "your post doesn't even deserve a response"? Shouldn't those that separate to another table of "intelligence" be eager to move to where they are truly needed???

Are we all hypocrites? Oh how we do love to spout our own glory and toot our own horn!
Thank the LORD that He knows what the flesh is like and provided the only way to be righteous. Through Jesus Christ.

Not through our own self-righteousness.

Self-righteousness bears a fool; a fool that can't even see that he has lied to himself. Lied by deception that he has any contribution to make to his salvation. It is by the saving faith in the blood of the Lamb...hypocrites included.

I agree with what you are saying here and I have been guilty of wallowing in the mud, myself. I started out with good intentions, i think most people who are guilty of self righteous behavior do. Unfortunately, there are people here who believe that racism and self righteousness and all sorts of evil are actually good if they are doing it for Jesus. I admit that this attitude is so repungnant that it hooks me more than not.

I just re-read your post @VictoryinJesus , you have a very kind and gentle spirit! And like you, I also "...long for fellowship." When I started on this board, I was struggling with whether or not to leave the local body I belong to...it was a sad struggle as my heart hurt thinking about it but, I left it to our Great God and, He has really spoken to me through not just my prayer, of course, lol..but through this board it has been confirmed several times and I now have a peace about it. I will keep my eyes on Jesus and love others where I see a need that I believe He is asking me to fulfill.
God Bless you sister,
-nancy

Good point. What are the threads and posting for?
I have to say I come here for fellowship.
I like to hear what others believe and how they got to where and why they believe, even if ( and most times it is) different than mine.
I like the people on this site...and I always notice when they are missing.
I write INBOXes to people.
As for intelligence....I wouldn't know , and I don't have much at all!!
But then I don't believe that intelligence and God go together. So often our mind is our enemy...so I hope I am safe as I don't have a very big brain :D
I was at the back of the line when intelligence was given out...
But then again I do not see intelligence and wisdom in the same box.
My own father was very well educated, even at 90 his mind was still very sharp.
He was very intelligent ...but at the end he said:-
"I underestimated your poor mother...she was not well educated or very intelligent ...and I looked down on her for it... I have always had a quick mind, but she had all the wisdom...I believe she has had the better part. She had a simple walk with God..a real working relationship."

As for myself...I find no life in the intellectual threads...( I don't understand them! :D) But, power to those who enjoy them. I am sure they love them and post in them as they would enjoy a good chess game. ( I can play chess quite well...yay go me! :) )

The beauty of this site is it's diversity...there is something for everyone. All walks of life. When I come on this site I don't always want or need the same thing out of it.
At night I don't have much energy left...so I head for the games and fun section..I like 'The Weather' thread...I like hearing what it is like in other places.
I like the new TV thread Job started.
I like the one where we say something nice about the person who posted ahead of us.. This site has a bit of everything. I love it!
I do get tired of the endless Law v grace, and Works v Faith...when there are too many the site get lopsided...we need diversity.
This got somewhat rambling...
"But then again I do not see intelligence and wisdom in the same box." <---Ditto sister, and I thank God for that! Have made way too many wrong choices in life, and praying for His wisdom and Him to help me to make correct choices has brought me far, and fast. "Be it done unto you according to your faith" Do not know the scripture but, I bet you do! lol. Awesome story about your father!
" As for myself...I find no life in the intellectual threads...( I don't understand them! :D) <---you and me both! I feel almost stupid! I love the simplicity of Jesus ♥
Good post.
