Energy information Administration Official Energy Statistics from the US government
http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/forecasting.html

The above report indicates that the US will be using primarily oil as our main energy source through 2030.

The world's total declared reserves are 1,317,400,000,000 barrels (January 2007).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_reserves

World oil consumption 2005 is 80,290,000 barrels per day or 29,305,850,000 per year
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2174rank.html

Dividing annual consumption into total reserves gives us 44.9 years of oil supply at the current consumption rate.

That was eleven (11)years ago, we are not changing your habits and this spells doom for us all.

Do you have any suggestions--?

Libya will be an interesting place to watch.

  • Libya’s current production rate is 1.8 million barrels of oil a day
  • At that rate Libya will exhaust all its reserves within 63 years
  • Existing oil fields undergoing a 7–8% decline rate
They have highways and freeways and use cars and trucks just like the rest of us do. But up until now gas was pretty much free. If there is going to be a drive to manufacture electric and hybrid cars for local consumption now is the time for Libya to use its cash reserves and invest in local production of the next generation power systems. At least in the US we have the cash and will to build a new future for America and the people are willing to do their part too.

China is joining France and Britain in announcing plans to end sales of gasoline and diesel cars.

China's industry ministry is developing a timetable to end production and sale of traditional fuel cars and will promote development of electric technology, state media on Sunday cited a Cabinet official as saying.

France and Britain announced in July they will stop sales of gasoline and diesel automobiles by 2040 as part of efforts to reduce pollution and carbon emissions that contribute to global warming.

Communist leaders also want to curb China's growing appetite for imported oil and see electric cars as a promising industry in which their country can take an early lead.

China passed the United States last year as the biggest electric car market. Sales of electrics and gasoline-electric hybrids rose 50 percent over 2015 to 336,000 vehicles, or 40 percent of global demand. U.S. sales totaled 159,620.

I believe I have found a solution to getting the energy of the supper hot seawater along the Mid Atlantic Ridge. We build robotic thermal electric generators along the supper hot ridge where each station is producing electric power and each unit is connected to the next unit. Together they produce huge amounts of electric power. This power is then cabled to Europe and the Americas.

It will be the ultimate perpetual electric energy source.

Any comments :)-

first, i would contemplate the thought that it may not even be "fossil" fuel; this pov is crumbling more as the years go by. The Soviets have hit oil waaay below the level at which any fossils have ever been recovered.

ah, i see the problem, already lol

never have so many been so screwed by so few for a little profit, ya

funny, wasn't it almost exactly that long ago that we first "ran out of fuel?"
we are not changing your habits and this spells doom for us all.

Do you have any suggestions--?
yes, but no one wants to do them
Libya will be an interesting place to watch.
interesting to me that when we bombed them back to the stone age, it was the water infrastructure we destroyed, not the oil infrastructure. Not sure what that is saying tho.
If there is going to be a drive to manufacture electric and hybrid cars for local consumption now is the time for Libya to use its cash reserves
um, about those Libyan cash reserves...lol
At least in the US we have the cash and will to build a new future for America and the people are willing to do their part too.
i guess i will not be able to sufficiently convey how exactly opposite from the truth this perspective is, even though it is the one constantly advertised. Renewable energy is suppressed in the US every way possible. The only reason it has managed to proliferate is the demand. The government obstacles to its development are almost comical, if the joke weren't on us. i can't even install a natgas conversion kit on your car without a $10,000 "permit" lol, forget about renewables--separate permit for every model of car required.

looks like it's being done, or at least contemplated,
thermal generators getting the energy of the super hot sea water along the Mid Atlantic Ridge - Google Search

but i'd like to point out that this keeps the power monetized. "so now, take your purse..." i guess.
Meaning that i guess monetizing...everything, lol, is the only way to get them done. for now.
Do you have any suggestions--?
yes, i would find out what the PTB do not want you to do--solar panels on your roof, a wind generator in your back yard, a water flow generator in your stream; all these are either heavily regulated or outlawed--and do them, wadr.

um, put your purse down iow. :D

Lol.....You have been banging this drum for a couple of years now:

The end of the Fossil Fuel era is upon us so what are we going to do next-?

But I digress. I have found statistics that are different than the ones you provided. We have more fossil fuels than you have alluded to AND we are finding more reserves all the time AND we are, thru technology, learning how to use less energy by improving the efficiency of cars, furnaces, air conditioners etc. etc. AND we are becoming for efficient at retrieving fossil fuels from the earth.

BTW.....NORWAY, NETHERLANDS, FRANCE, SWEDEN and CHINA (among others) are surpassing the United States in electric/hybrid car usage. I guess their people are dong their part more than we are

Fun discussion though....Mary

Renewable energy is suppressed in the US every way possible..,...

It was the Republican Party; i.e. trump that abolished Obama's renewable energy efforts. Dump Trump and Congress may be able to reinstate our renewable energy efforts.

@bbyrd009 ...hi there...didn't know how to reply to you from my profile page, so I found this post.
My grandson fell off a cliff last Saturday and was airlifted to hospital where he had brain surgery the next day...he only just really awoke ( although only a little time at a time ), this morning.....He got off the respirator last night and was able to breathe on his own than, so it's all going well...He's still in intensive care but hopefully won't be for long.
Yeah, so I haven't been home much at all, and too tired to go on the computer when I have been here, basically just to sleep and eat a little...
I will come back on as soon as this settles down a bit more....if that doesn't happen before Christmas, have a happy one :D
Thank you for asking about me, that's lovely.....Pia

Will cars going electric be good for the environment though? Or would it have a negative effect? Since electricity produces heat, if millions of electric vehicles were to travel at the same time in a small space, say 100 square kilometres, would it just be like walking into a tv section in a big electronics store, where you can feel the heat coming off the tvs and even smell an electrical smell? Which would have a impact on temperatures in cities and air quality. And don't cities like Tokyo already feel uncomfortable with all the artificial electronic stuff around?

Electric cars produce 1/1000 the heat fossil fuel cars do.
