why was that Sabbath "an high day"? I say it was because the annual Sabbath of Abib 15 and the weekly Sabbath coincided

"That Day was great-day-of-sabbath" is John's unique description of the passover's "sabbath", the "sabbath" only mentioned in Leviticus 23:11,15. It is impossible to dogmatise on John's singular usage of the expression.
Interpreters loose track when they assume the Leviticus "sabbath" in the phrase "the day after the sabbath" for "the Sabbath of the LORD" in Leviticus 23:3 and 38. In the greater and passover context of Leviticus "the sabbath" in the phrase "the day after the sabbath" simply, as is there described, indeed specified, is the "sabbath" = "rest day" OF THE FIRST SHEAF.
The first sheaf had to be "reaped"="cut off"="lifted up" (crucified and killed) "on the first day they always had to KILL the passover (lamb)" Mark 14:12=Matthew 26:17=Luke 22:7=John 13:1=Leviticus 23:21,22,10. (Abib 14 Crucifixion day)
It had to be "brought to the priest", "And the priest shall wave=prostrate=lay down=REST the sheaf before the LORD=in the sanctuary-store to be accepted=stored=RESTED for you" over the whole day following. (Abib 15 Burial day)
The first sheaf was reaped on Abib 14 and was rested on Abib 15; "And on the day after" the first sheaf was rested on, that is, "on the day after the sabbath-" rest-over-day of the first sheaf, "the priest shall That Day that ye wave=reveal=lift up again the sheaf ... offer...", and also "begin to count" to Pentecost / Shavuot, verses 12 to 15. (Abib 16 Resurrection day)

Huh? The three days of darkness took place in Exodus 10:22. Afterwards, they spoiled the Egyptians. Then Abib 14 took place. Are you also saying there was three days of darkness when Yeshua died even though the gospels say three "hours"?

At the exodus it was literally three days darkness for the Egyptians and literally three days of light for Israel WHILE GOD BROUGHT THEM OUT AND REDEEMED THEM.
For Jesus it was his whole Life the Light of the world in the darkness and shadow of death. But never was the darkness thicker than the Last Week, and never were his days darker than his "three days in the heart of the earth", and never were his hours darker than the last three of his Life the Light of the world in the darkness and shadow of death.

Yes, that happened to Jonah, not to Jesus. Jonah was in the belly of the fish; Jesus was in the heart of the earth. Jonah was literally in the belly of the fish; Jesus was figuratively, metaphorically, symbolically, in the heart of the earth -- literally three days and three nights literally retrospectively; in the heart of the earth in every which way and direction spiritually.

Sorry, but I cannot understand what you are saying because of the poor English grammar you use. As a result of the above, I have no idea what day the preparation day was.

If the Sabbath was on Abib 16, then the day before was the preparation day of Abib 15 which began on Thursday night in your view. That is exactly what I wrote;

No. I didn't say that. I said, "The Preparation" in these verses, Luke 23:50=Mark15:42=Matthew 27:57=John 19:31, was 'Friday', Abib 15 "great day of sabbath" of the passover BEGINNING, 'ehn Paraskeueh', and that the bodies had to be taken down on it, for, the prospective "great day of sabbath" of the passover on Abib 15.

It only is heart sore that we do not agree on the REASON we believe the Sabbath. I do not believe the Sabbath because the Law tells me to keep it. I cannot keep it anyway. But I may and am given it to believe it, for no reason and due to no reason than, that Jesus Rose from the dead "on the Sabbath" to give us the Rest of His Salvation, and that "If Jesus gave them Rest, there remains therefore, for the People of God the Christian Church, Sabbath Day of Rest", "the Seventh Day GOD THUS CONCERNING SPAKE ... in these last days, BY THE SON", "the day The Seventh Day Sabbath OF THE LORD, your, GOD", "the Seventh Day GOD, Finished, All, His, Works", "The Seventh Day God" in Christ Jesus, "from all his works RESTED", through Christ rested, by having RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, "on the Sabbath".

Your first mistake is in quoting the Greek phrase. The Greek of Mark 15:6 reads, "Κατὰ δὲ ἑορτὴν", but you say it reads, "kata heortehn". Where is the Greek "δὲ" in your quote?
Second, you translate "kata" as "on". I searched through many translations and could not find one that uses "on". I could not even find a lexicon that gives "kata" the definition of "on".
Third, "Κατὰ δὲ ἑορτὴν" literally translate as "At but feast". Most translations add the word "that" to yield "But at that feast". They put the word "that" in italics to show it is not in the Greek text. Some add "every" instead of "that", but the fact of the matter is "every" is added by man and is not found in the Greek text.

It was established, 'Christian' practice. 'Christian' not because worship services were held on every Sunday, but because worship services were NOT held on Sundays, but on the FOREGOING Sabbath!
And 'Christian' custom it was, not because any holiness was attached to Sundays, but BECAUSE OF THE CHRISTIAN EXPRESSION per se, the new and uniquely ChristianNOMENCLATURE AND WAY OF THINKING among the young Christian Community, for days of the week, in this case for or "according to the custom, to every First (Day) [Mian (Hemeran) of the week [sabbatou] privately reckon out and put aside" something for the future shipment of the Corinthians' relief help to Jerusalem.


What was an "established, 'Christian' practice"? Worshiping on the weekly Sabbath? If so, I agree. If you are calling the "FOREGOING Sabbath" the "First (Day) [Mian (Hemeran) of the week [sabbatou]", then I totally disagree.

I have no idea what you are trying to say here. 1 Corinthians 16:1-3 refers to a ONE TIME "commercial gathering" of goods for the starving saints in Jerusalem. It does NOT refer to a weekly "collection" where they passed the plate around. The "commercial gathering" of relief goods was "FOR the saints", not "FOR the church" so they can conduct weekly services on Sunday or undergo their buildings projects.

Mark 15:42 It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). So as evening approached, NIV
Mark 15:42 καὶ ἤδη ὀψίας γενομένης ἐπεὶ ἦν παρασκευή ὅ ἐστιν προσάββατον
The Greek in bold reads, "And now evening come". The "evening" referred to is late afternoon, not evening after sunset. The Preparation Day was Abib 14, the day Yeshua died to fulfill the Passover Lamb. The weekly Sabbath was Abib 15 and Sunday was Abib 16.

The Aorist Participle γενομένης "And now evening come" is not Present Continuous Indicative, but in English is the Past Perfect: "already come". Reason? ἐπεὶ ἦν παρασκευή ὅ ἐστιν προσάββατον, "because it already had become The Preparation which is the Fore-Sabbath", 'Thursday' after sunset. ἦν, Indicative Aorist Punctiliar Ingressive and CON-stative. NOT Imperfect though.

It was “while came Joseph” Mark 15:42 ‘elthohn’, and John tells Joseph came “after these things” John 19:38 of the Jews in John 19:31-37, and the Jews “asked Pilate” their stuff “since The Preparation had begun” – ‘epei ehn Paraskeueh’ in John 19:31. Therefore Mark and John and Luke 23:50 must have been after the sunset and after dusk in “That NIGHT” John 19:39.
