Regarding the Holy Spirit and His gifts I believe...

Rearding the baptism of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts and some other things I believe;

  • 1. Yes, I know this is for today and all gifts including tongues, are yet given to believers.

  • 2. There is no secondary experience from God once you truly become a Christian.

  • 3. Those who speak in tongues are completely deceived, this is not from God at all.

  • 4. Spiritual gifts, including tongues passed away after the time of the apostles ended

  • 5. Those lacking baptism in the Holy Spirit lack God's anointing and power

  • 6. My denominations teaching on this is true. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is not for now.

  • 7. Jesus no longer speaks directly to believers, only through the scripture

  • 8. Miracles of healing are not for today, modern medicine and doctors are our means of healing

  • 9. Much of the bible is allegorical and never really happened.

  • 10. I am a Christian but Jesus Christ is not God Almighty

We need to be careful what we believe.
“On that day, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons and do many powerful deeds?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!’” (Matthew 7:22–23)

Be careful what we believe? We must put things in the right order according to the priority Jesus gave us as per:

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33
If from the depths of our heart we are seeking first things first [God's kingdom and God's righteousness] then what is it that we need that He will not add to us?

If we are seeking these things always first why would we fear demons or false teachers?

I am. If you can find another example of God giving the gifts beyond the two outpourings and an apostles' hands, you would have used it by now.

But we here don't have to "prove" anything...we already have lived proof, seen proof..experienced the proof.
We are not the ones that have the problem...you do.
It's sad, because you have no idea of what you are missing in God.

You can keep your silly legalistic ideas.
May the Might God open your blind eyes and dull ears....

You cannot have genuine faith apart from scripture. You need to prove what you believe from scripture.
What Apostle Paul wrote was this:

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Rom 10:17

"He that hath ears to hear, let him hear." Matt 11:15

The "hearing" comes by the Word of God, but what is that? Is not the Word of God alive? Are all of the Bibles sitting on shelves in the 2nd hand stores across America alive while they for months and even years wait for someone to open them and read by the power of the Holy Spirit? No, when the words are consumed [read or heard] by a person and the Holy Spirit in that person quickens them, then are they the Word of God. Lots of people have read the Bible for the wrong reason with the wrong spirit and received nothing at all: no Life. God's fault? No, and you know why but you will argue with you logical mind to prove what can only be proven to a person by the Holy Spirit.

The "ears to hear" of which Jesus spoke is the Holy Ghost. Without the Holy Ghost in a person that person cannot understand or hear the Word of God even though he is able to read the Bible or hear someone else read it.

Jesus believed in the scriptures and constantly quoted them, but did He ever not have the Holy Spirit of God? Did He ever quench the Holy Spirit of God?

So many people have a love affair with their bible rather than with the living God that speaks to His children! :(

Good word John.

I can prove today's "gifts" are vastly different from the originals.
No my friend, you cannot prove anything to anyone who does not already agree with you. If they follow you instead of Jesus and you are wrong then will you not both fall in a ditch?

"I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase." I Cor 3:6-7

It's really strange that when I was a wild eyed heathen the devil never did any of these things but when I get saved and receive what God has for me the denominational zombies tell me I'm hell bound. Religion has killed more spirits than any wars

I Love ya Man, But one must be Politically Correct, I believe they are Gospel Gestapo Zombies, We also call them the Religious Police! LOL!
Out there enforcing their particular Shtick! Zombies are the walking dead? Right!

But your "gifts" are not the same as the first century gifts. I can prove this simply by defining what the original gifts consisted of. And Scripture gives no other means of distribution beyond the two outpourings and an apostle's hands... now gone.

Why would you You want to associate with all of us deceived cultists?

Tell what is wrong with the Scriptures in Mark?

Mark 16:17-18 KJVS
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Were believers also abolished?

Are you Baptist? Tell us Dave what your denomination teaches even though we had a small hint.

Have you never seen God's power in your life, or have you never needed it?

I would not try to convince you of anything. I've seen that smug self righteous spirit all my life.

The same cold unloving spirit of those that used to try and talk me into going to their dead assemblies but NEVER NEVER telling me about the love God had for me. Condemning those desperate for the love of God.

You limit God by the denial of His power therefore limiting yourself to a mundane religious existence without the Dunamis, the power of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 4:20 KJVS
For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

What pray tell to all who deny God's Holy Spirit baptism, gifts and callings, are the new rules concerning our relationship with God?

I want to know how to live, to prosper joyfully without the power of the Holy Spirit in my life.

To sit in a lifeless assembly guided only by the mind of man, not believing that God moves in the lives of men. Believing that the Almighty God keeps His Almightyness to Himself. That because you can't understand or believe that those who cry out for and say they received His indwelling Holy Spirit are genuine you condemn them with a wave of mis-quoted scriptures.

The denominationalists, such as Dave, worship the creation of man - i.e. - their denomination and its doctrines, dead traditions more than the untwisted word of God. Like spiritual pool players they place their special "English" on God's words turning them to mean anything except what they were originally and eternally meant to convey.

The Daves of the denominational world fall before the altar of men, worshipping the creation of false religion above the precepts of God.

Your last two post's,---- Hallelujah - Praise God and Savior, I know that the Love Of God is within me, and to You I say With it I, Love Ya! In Him Be Blesses, I know you are already Blessed, but More to Ya!!!!!!
19 years ago My wife and I Prayed for the Truth, She Prayed for it secretly, and during that same week I Prayed for it secretly, and then our Journey into the Truth began! It was about 4 month's before we expressed to each other what we had Prayed for, I may not have the fullness of the Gifts, But the Holy Spirit has lead us to understand every thing you have expressed in Your last few Post's, Most important, being lead into all Truth! Not of man, but by the Spirit!

Beware the spiritual terrorists brethren.

"But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.
Matthew 23:13 NASB

If we think that just because a denominational Zombie professes to be a believer that he or she can't possibly be a hypocrite we are mistaken.

After watching Shirley Boone on the old PTL club one morning I was perplexed.

She and her husband Pat Boone were having serious marital problems. She went up to her room and got on her knees and began to pray really pouring out her heart as never before. After awhile she looked at the clock. She realized that she had been praying speaking in a language she'd never learned for a long period of time.

I'd never heard of such a thing. Oh well I reasoned, I can understand God doing something like that for a movies, stars wife.

That was how new a Christian I was. I thought God blessed the world's celebrities above mere serfs like me.

That evening after work I was in the attic of a room I was adding to our home. I was, overcome with a heaviness I could not understand. I wept and cried out to God with all my heart and as I did a thought came.

.. MAYBE WHAT GOD DID FOR THAT WOMAN HE'D ALSO DO FOR YOU...

I would have never have dared think that myself, being convinced of my invisibility. But I began to make up words speaking baby talk and just meaningless noises. After a minute or less it changed.

Suddenly I was speaking in what was obviously an actual language. Speaking fluently in some tongue unknown to me but very well known to the Holy Spirit.

Though I didn't know what it was Jesus had baptized me in His Holy Spirit of promise. My life was forever changed.

My ignorance of God and His gifts was an open door to receive His promise.

Had I been spiritually brainwashed by the denominational Pharisees like Dave I'd still be fighting battles in my flesh. Denying that God continues to bless whosoever will.

I feel pity for the deniers such as Dave but not to the point I'll receive the denominational hogwash they tout as the word of God. A little leaven leaves the whole lump.

Those that deny the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the gifts He gives have nothing to offer the body of Christ.

Did you hear that?

Those that deny the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the gifts He gives have NOTHING to offer the body of Christ.

Acts 2:17 New King James Version (NKJV)
It shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.

And this came to pass 118 years ago,
and since then the estimate is that 500 million people have been baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Study the Book of Acts.

Such is the control of denominational indoctrination that those so afflicted cannot see the scripture in it's true meaning. They view every scripture through a translucent hazy veil. Their view is continually clouded by the leaven of the doctrine of the man created religious denomination to which they pay homage.

Romans 1:25 KJVS
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Lee, I use anyone for My purpose. I humble the prideful and bring honor to the humble. The storms come, and those upon the rock stand firm. Those who do not have their foundation on the rock are hewn down. They are washed away by the tide. Focus on Me and feed My sheep. Do not be distracted by the world, for I am Your Life. Every good and perfect gift comes from Me. And My desire is to share My gifts with many.

I turn my back on you and walk away dusting my feet for you are determined to serve your master and be his messenger to spread false doctrine.
Is he still posting? I don't see his posts anymore.
All of us Bap in the Holy Spirit should have a party and tell ALL our stories!!!!!
Some are hard for me to tell because they seem just simply impossible, ya know?
But, with fellow believers they are every day 'miracles'.
Oh, my .. the Holy Spirit...what can one say...all praise to You.
