Whether it be in real life...or on a forum...when someone walks into 'a room' and the FIRST thing out of their mouth is they start disagreeing about things.
They don't walk into a room and listen, get the know the feeling of the place, even introduce themselves, or take in the 'atmosphere'...but they walk in and "jump" on things which are very obviously their 'pet peeves' and tell people that what they believe is wrong. His first post was picking on what he didn't like...rather than finding maybe one thing that he could agree with.
In anyones book...that is very ignorant and rude.

As for Sword. He was suspended from the Site because he was an arrogant nagger...and kept on telling everyone that they should be like him, do what he did...and he judged everyones home life without knowing anyone.
Repeatedly he accused us of not witnessing enough ( how did he know? ) Not praising en...enough...again...how on earth did he know? And also he accused us of not healing people enough.
He must have been clairvoyant...

He was judgement, legalist and arrogant. Hence his suspension.
Your memory of him is very 'rose-coloured' ..... :)

19 years ago My wife and I Prayed for the Truth, She Prayed for it secretly, and during that same week I Prayed for it secretly, and then our Journey into the Truth began! It was about 4 month's before we expressed to each other what we had Prayed for, I may not have the fullness of the Gifts, But the Holy Spirit has lead us to understand every thing you have expressed in Your last few Post's, Most important, being lead into all Truth! Not of man, but by the Spirit!

Amen Truth...that is ALL I EVER wanted when seeking Him...the truth. And, I wanted it even if I did not like parts of it. He opened my eyes like, wow, and thank you, and yes Lord, your grace is oh so sufficient!
I never received the fullness of the gifts either but, boy I can certainly testify as to ALL He has miraculously done in my life. And like Miss Hepburn, I too am single with only my small pension and what He has blessed me with...WAY more than I need. It's all about faith with me, do we believe Him or not? ♥

Before Pentecost the new birth stood apart from the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. After Pentecost they were combined.

“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Romans 8:9)

I never quenched the Spirit. But put a big damper on adrenaline rushes people mistake for the move of the Spirit. It's all about love, not hoopla.

You say you never quenched the Spirit, but believe it was all wrong for you. Perhaps it was, but you are still presuming that everyone else who talks in tongues is in the same place of error. Therein is your mistake as I see it. What applies to you or to me one time does not necessarily apply to everyone else because they seem to be in a similar place. We are [or are to be] all different parts of the Body of Christ with different functions at different levels [between milk and meat]. You and I do not coordinate or direct. That is the function of the Head and that is Jesus alone.

And the difference between love and hoopla? Love of course must always be involved... but sometimes other things [may or may not fit under your definition of 'hoopla'] are also involved but what they are depends upon the direction the Holy Ghost is leading and how well we are following.

Do you really believe that God does not have the whole of His plan under control? Do you not believe what this verse says?

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Matt 5:6

If a person is really hungry and thirsty for His righteousness, do you believe that they will be filled with that right things. Do you suppose that they are going to misled and jump into the wrong car and take it for a spin? Don't you trust God to know what He is doing even if we do not?

In the events of Acts chapter 8 these were already believers, baptized in the name of Jesus yet they were prayed for on a clearly separate occasion to receive the Holy Spirit. This was not on the day of Pentecost.

Cornelius and those in Acts chapter 10 were already believers received the Holy Spirit before Water baptism.

Those in Acts chapter 19 were, already believers, being asked "have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed"? A clear definitive separation. They then received the Holy Spirit, spake in tongues and prophesied.

God doesn't change. Too simple.

You cannot hold to your belief without condemning every man and woman that believes God's Holy Spirit baptism and gifts are as much for today as for then. I understand the frustration of Jesus. This is exactly why God came outside of church walls to gather me to Him.

The same thing happened to me, sitting in my car in the parking lot of a big meeting one night. I was sitting there crying, and angry that "tongues" was phony...….. when, all of a sudden!

Many cultures speak in tongues. And science confirms it reduces stress. So no doubt today's Christian tongue speakers get a buzz. But I think they confuse it with spirituality. The purpose of tongues in the first century was it served the place of scripture until the bible became complete. But tongues expired when John completed the Revelation of Jesus Christ. That which is perfect (Greek = complete).

Are you the local resident expert on hand now so we can forget what the scripture says and give heed to you and to science?

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26

That which is perfect has not come. When it has there will be only one Head [Jesus] and all of the parts of the Body will be connected to each other perfectly and subject to that one Head. There are believers, I believe, in most every denomination as well as among those not directly associated with any denomination. They are not all connected to one another and subject to the Head... yet. The revelation necessary to every member of the Body of Christ is incomplete. While a person still has time he still has work to be done on himself to be ready to fit in the place in the Body God has for him.

Science is not a good resource because science itself is imperfect ,or if you will, incomplete. The only one who can always be trusted is God.

You don't call something you can understand, "unknown." These were not stupid people, and they had a vocabulary extensive enough to have used a word that correctly described the situation. They called it "Unknown", not "another language they had not previously spoken."
