Paul says whenever perfection comes, faith, hope and love would remain (1 Corinthians 13:13) and tongues, prophecy will cease (1 Corinthians 13:8). If as you say, prophecy, tongues and interpretation remain until the end of the world, Paul's comparison is meaningless. So Paul inferred tongues would stop sometime before Christ’s return on the last day, when hope and faith find fulfillment in the new world and love remains.

The gifts will be present in the Body of Christ till Christ takes us out of here.

There were several purposes for tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:10 (for the edification of the Church)

The gift of interpretation of tongues interprets as these from the gift of diverse kinds of tongues:

for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification. 6 But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching?

Those are all for the profit of the Church. The gift of interpretation of tongues interprets the gift of diverse kinds of tongues (above). Those with these gifts are like having an office in a Church; not everyone has these gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:30.

Mark 16:17-18 (for the edification of the individual)

Tongues as supernatural prayer language. "Praying in the Spirit."

17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

All who believe have these signs following them, for their individual empowerment and protection, whether they know it or not.

This is a good presentation. But also tongues were for a sign to those who don't believe. In the OT, when God mentioned other tongues it meant captivity and occupation by foreigners. This reached it's height in AD 70

We are speaking of the signs and wonders performed by the Apostles now being expired. And Tongues, prophecy and knowledge also expired when the scriptures became complete (perfect).

“Above all, you do well if you recognize this: No prophecy of scripture ever comes about by the prophet’s own imagination, for no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” (2 Peter 1:20–21) (NET)

No. (1 Cor. 13:10) has nothing to do with the writing of Scripture. It has to do with the Church being brought into a mature state. The same truth is explained again in (Eph. 4:13). The word 'perfect' there is the same word. Both context's are concerning gifts in the Body of Christ.

(1 Cor. 13:9-10) "For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, than that which is in part shall be done away."

(Eph. 4:11-13) "And he gave some apostle's; and some prophets; and some, evangelists....For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"

We still have the same apostles through their writings as permanent fixtures in the church. God's word in scripture is the only prophecy today.

That is sooo unbiblical!

God promised that the day was coming that the things of God would "no longer" be written, except in men's hearts. And Jesus told us that the kingdom of heaven had come upon us - 2,000 years ago...that He would send the Holy Spirit to bring it to fruition.

We have God's word in our hearts when we memorize scripture. We have no indication that what we imagine is God's word.

Yes, tongues was a sign to those who don't believe, but also the uninformed. It is a negative sign, not a positive sign. That is why in the next verse they are mocking. It confirms someone, whether unsaved, or merely uninformed (in the church) in their unbelief. It is why in church it must be interpreted, so the unsaved and uninformed will NOT mock, but be educated.

There was also personal prophecy in the Bible, not meant for everyone. That hasn't stopped.

I would take the reference in 1 Cor. 13 as referring to the completion of revelation in the Scriptures.

I don't because the context is still true - we still see God through a dark glass. Can you imagine what it is going to be like in heaven when we see Christ face to face??? Amazing. Nothing here can compare. The Bible is so we can get there, not as a replacement.

Scripture replaces tongues, prophecy and knowledge. Also the signs and wonders gifts used only by the apostles.

Knowledge has not stopped. The device you are posting on is proof of that. And we don't recognize the Antichrist yet. Oh, sorry, I forgot, that was Nero to you wasn't it?
