I’ve NEVER conveyed that the nine spiritual gifts were done away with, EXCEPT tongues and interpretation of tongues which is the subject matter of the OP.. Healing and miracles and prophecy were also done away with but that is another issue.I would like anyone to show me in scripture where it says the nine gifts of the spirit will be withdrawn once the printed word is complete.
From here on in, I will let Scripture speak for me so there will be no misunderstanding; except for words in bold, underlined, and in parenthesis ( ) are mine for emphasis.
1 Corinthians 12:11-12
11) But all these worketh that one and the self same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 ) For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1 Corinthians 13:8-10
8) Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail (cease); whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away (cease).
9) For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
10) But when that which is perfect (Jesus) is come, then that which is in part (prophecies, tongues, knowledge) shall be done away.
BELOW IS THE CRUX OF THE WHOLE MATTER!!
1 Corinthians 14:1-5
1) Follow after charity but desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you may prophesy,
2) For he that speaketh in an unknown (italicized words in the KJV Bible mean the words are not in the original manuscripts) tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
3) But he that propfesieth speaketh unto men to edification, an exhortation, and comfort.
4) He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
5) I would that you all spake with tongues, but rather you all prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interprets, that the church may receive edification!!
Note the word unknown is omitted in verse five.
