Are these scriptures at fault?
John 3:29
“And the next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”
John 3:15-18
“that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
John 10:28:30
“and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. and the Father are one.”
Romans 8:38-39
"Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, “For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Ephesians 1:13-14
"In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory."
Matthew 18:12-14
“What do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying? If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish."
Ephesians 2:8-9
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Colossians 2:12-14
"Having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled"
I have posed questions like this before. Here are two camps of theological thought, once saved always saved and those that believe you can loose your saved status. Both camps have studied the scriptures, both camps are knowledgeable, both camps can produce the scriptures that support their beliefs. Both camps can do a tap dance to explain them, coming up with Klondike interpretations. Which does not help anything but skew other scriptures. For how many centuries do you think this has been debated? Is this the wisest course of action? Back and forth, back and forth. Each camp presents two sets of scriptures that seem to contradict, but in the seam, is the truth and the wisdom, the seam holds them together. So what is the truth that brings these scriptures into harmony? Isn’t that the better question? If you find it, it will be a treasure to you. The truth will set you free, a lie will bind you up in contradiction and controversy, back and forth, back and forth. You have to find it, because wisdom given is unappreciated and trampled under foot, wisdom found is a treasure and held dear to your heart. Who was it that gave this analogy?
Proverbs 3:13-20
"How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding. For her profit is better than the profit of silver And her gain better than fine gold. She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her. Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast. The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, By understanding He established the heavens. By His knowledge the deeps were broken up And the skies drip with dew."
