Going to bed, this has been a taxing discussion. I want to walk in the Spirit so I do not fulfill the lusts of my flesh.
Welcome to Christian Forums, a Christian Forum that recognizes that all Christians are a work in progress.
You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.
We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!
What I take from it is that you think righteousness and holiness are the same thing because of what men have said that sounds right to you, but you have not searched the scriptures yourself concerning it. Then, rather than wondering if there might be something to learn, you post a link that agrees with your stance, learning mission aborted, heels dug in, already know you're correct, no need for any searching. A sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.
Maybe we will give ourselves a break and talk again in some weeks or months.
There is no way for God to give a man His holiness so that the man then has his own holiness apart from God.
Perhaps you might read the link before being so harsh.
"When it comes to the actual deeds and attributes, all holy behavior will be righteous behavior and all righteous behavior will be holy behavior. That’s the first thing. But that doesn’t mean that the words are identical in meaning."
"The essential idea behind the concept of holiness is being separated from, distinct from, that which is ordinary or common."
"Righteousness has the basic idea of conforming to a standard. When that standard is conformed to, the behavior, the thinking, the feeling is right — it’s right."
It goes on. It's a pretty good article in my opinion, fwiw.
Much love!
All this seems like a silly 'play on words'.
"is this, or that, the same thing or different"
Who gives a rip.
As JBF has said..it's all God anyway...we are what HE says that we are..
Righteous, Holy, blessed, victorious, healed, saved , delivered ...
We know that we don't manifest it 24/7 ... but if we are going to get to the end of the race , then we must live firm in our positional of faith while of feet walk out our daily faith ...and we allow the Holy Spirit to discipline us in the word as walk in His footsteps. Our spiritual faith position and our spiritual faith experience must both be in operation in us and stay balanced.
my two cents...

It is actually pretty simply. Most of the time I see people on the forum discussing interpretation of the scriptures and sometime various sins.
What I do not see is discussions about the applications of Christian beliefs in motion and what we should do to lead a good Christian life.
So I am asking that question….What should we do to lead a good Christian life? What does a good Christian life look like?
I am not talking about theology. I am not talking about prophecy. I am not talking about sin or demons.
If you were explaining it to a new Christian, what would you tell him or them to do?
It is actually pretty simply.
Be filled with the spirit.
Walk in the Spirit.
Be led of the Spirit and bear the fruit of the Spirit.
This is accomplished by praying in the Spirit as much as possible.

Maybe the only problem is that we seek to save our lives? Is it really that simple for you? I understand being led by the Spirit, keeping open to His...impressions on your heart. And sometimes I know I've been wrong about something I was sure He was impressing on my heart but it turned out to be just...maybe my conscience mixed with my own thoughts about what would be good to do. But no great harm came to me in my mistake.
But walking in the Spirit? It's simple? I think if it seems simple to get there or do that, you might not have yet walked in the Spirit...the apostles walked in the Spirit. At least a portion of the time. And when they did, they penned Revelation, healed the sick, spoke not their own words, performed miracles. When they walked in the Spirit, they walked as Jesus walked. I've never done that.

Ok thank you for your honesty, I must admit the only times I’ve seen His Spirit move is the times I’ve forgone my will or personal safety. I don’t see how this can be seen in the setting of a church body, although maybe some religious sects can be very hostile.Yes. I think so. I was thinking as I posted that I haven't walked in the Spirit because I haven't given everything. I haven't given up all rights to myself. If I had, I would never have complaint at anything that befell me, I would just say...yes, okay Lord, your will be done. I crave comfort and no suffering so it's obvious I haven't willingly given up my own comfort.
