Although I think platonic kissing will be

Ick! What exactly is platonic kissing? Sounds like those fake hugs you get in church sometimes that kinda make you wanna wipe the feeling off whenever you can get far enough away, Lol.

I understand your point, Pearl, and I know you don't mean it quite like that. But if I think someone were to offer me a "platonic kiss" I'd dodge and put this fella in my place instead:

Romantic love? It moves beyond that. In a certain way, there is no more loving of the other -- you have become the other, and the other has become you. Love can be defined as giving up a part of "self" as a sacrifice to "the other"... Your identity is no longer based on being a separate individual. It is tied up in relationships and unions.

This is rather deep, and moving into territory I was driving at. My belief is that those who experienced this kind of love in this life will not be able to separate themselves in the next, nor will they be expected to.

I read the article, but she doesn't go on to detail what love between two married people on earth will become. Suppose they gave each other flowers on earth. Will they no longer do so in Heaven?
Well, not exactly this yet, so just for comparison, or more, remembering what is written in Scripture as all Scripture is truth: (the passions of the gentiles(pagans) are done away) ...

classic . biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=passion&qs_version=ESV
(over 20 other including KJV is available at that page too)

Galatians 5:24
And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Ephesians 2:3
among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

Colossians 3:5
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

1 Thessalonians 4:5
not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;

1 Timothy 5:11
But refuse to enroll younger widows, for when their passions draw them away from Christ, they desire to marry

2 Timothy 2:22
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

2 Timothy 3:6
For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,

Somewhere (years ago) I saw the word study from the original languages that revealed in heaven ALL of our 'intimacies' will be with YHVH, not at all FLESH, not at all EMOTIONAL, not at all CARNAL, as everyone is today.

Not at all emotional? LoL. God is love.

No offense, Joseph, but I can't begin to explain just how much scripture flies in the face of this assertion.

Decades and Centuries ago, there were good sermons/ teachings available that you most likely have not ever even heard a hint of.

The love God desires of us believers is a choice of the will, NOT an emotion at all, and NOT a feeling at all.

In heaven you will be filled with the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) So there will be only Godly feelings for one another.

Agreed. But now, I am filled with the Holy Spirit now, yet the desire to develop closer relationships than simply friendships exists at the present time. I love everyone who belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ, but in all honesty I have no use whatsoever for "casual" Christian friendships. All people are different, but I am what He made me.

I think that our relationships in the resurrection will so completely transcend our relationships here, that even the most ardent and passionate love of long time marrieds will be eclipsed by the unity and love we will have with and for each other in that day.

Hey, marks. My response here would be that if the love that exists there completely eclipses romantic and passionate love then it will encompass it as well.

I will write up a full response on this for you tomorrow. Glad you brought these verses to bear, because after scanning several Greek words and compound words translated "passion" in the NT, this suddenly opens up the word on precisely the sort of answers I was searching for.

God bless.

Love without emotion is most certainly a concept I am unfamiliar with, LoL.

Sorry for the late reply but I went to church tonight and it took up all my time...
I honestly never considered it but this brings me to think of Lazarus laying in the bosom of Abraham....that's intimate in the sense of brotherly love...or maybe he felt drawn to him as a father...

Also brings to mind one of the gospels calling John the disciple whom Jesus loved...

That's because the teachings of religion have become so diluted/mixed with the carnal and worldly and secular for so long.
The best starting point of course is Scripture (always!) , and seeing what is written about emotion, emotions, feelings, passions, desires, and lusts. (A lot is never even taught nor preached about, because it requires dying to self - not a popular idea)

Well yes. This much I agree with. But here is a case in point for what I am saying: Will we not have a greater anticipation of seeing some in Heaven more than others. What about our parents? What about seeing our children come home? By the same token, what about a pastor who not only led us to the Lord but then prayed us out of trouble and went beyond and above the call of duty working to save us when it looked like we might lose faith in the Lord? Take it one step further: What about the marriage partner that we were soulmates with in this life; inseparable; that no one on earth compared to them as far as understanding us, praying for us, doing everything in their power to make our lives better in every way?

See, most people never find their soulmate, so they have no knowledge that such a thing exists in God. They might even label it as "soul ties" or something, but I think that's a falsehood. There are such things, and they happen in Christ just as they happen in the world.

Oh yes! I'm sure we all have those we want to see most, even pets! I just think our whole way of seeing things will be so different.
And, I NEVER had a pastor do that for me. They are all so busy after services.

... this too shall change....

If God Permits, He Will Bring/ show / a Group of amazing like in ACTS permanent disciples ... (in this life) ... (like has been known at least in China... hopefully also Israel, at least, and some other countries ) ... none "too busy" (not only, if there is one, the pastor - rather all the members faithful and living as Scripture says plainly) ...

God Himself has many emotions including anger, joy, sadness and love. He constantly talks about the oil of gladness, the garment of praise, the rejoicing in heaven when someone is saved....lots of emotions in heaven.

1 Corinthians 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Thanks Giuliano.

The point I'm trying to make is that many on this thread seem to be dangerously close to breaking the First Commandment...

Mark 12:30
"And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment"

In other words, they love the things of this World more than God.

Yes, Galatians 5:22-23. I have been filled with intense Love and Peace and all sexual desire left my soul. There is different intensities of the Holy Spirit. Normal Christian levels doesn't remove sexual desire.
