We wanted to talk about horror films let us talk about them. There are some I have heard about but not seen, they promise to be quite terrifying to the point of dispair.

As a Christian living for eternity, I doubt very much that we will be watching horror films with Jesus on the couch and eating popcorn. Yet there are some we will see, let's look at the trailer for a few of them.

Isaiah 66:22-24

There will also be a movie where you are an actor. It is a real tear jerker, a story of defeat, triumph, great loss from our own action or inaction, but ultimate victory. Glory to God!

Matthew 12:37
2 Corinthians 5:10
Romans 14:10

Good the thread is reopened. Already posted once but someone deleted it. Have no interest in horror movies other than those around me who are younger love them. When I was in my thirties I loved them too. But if we are going to speak of horror movies, what about the beat-them up sword fighting blood bath movies? What of men And women beating the blood out of each other? Sports? heavy metal music? Someone showed me a video the other day where the big thing now is men and women having a slap off. They get big guys to slap each other and crack up at watching some other guy take a slap to the face. What else? Sure there is a lot we can pull out as ‘why is this entertaining?’ To be honest I’m not sure movies have crushed my thoughts and spirit, as much as the cruel condemning critical comments we say to one another. Movies, entertainment ...doesn’t feel nearly as transforming of thoughts as hearing condemnation day in and day out.

And I don't get the harm in enjoying something that's not even real.
Did you know that the brain does not differentiate in how it stores memories between real and fiction? So that if you watch your child in a wading pool, the mind writes that memory to the brain in exactly the same way as if you are watching a depiction of a monster eating that child?

There are some very serious implications to that.

Much love!

So let me get this straight,.. you're saying that Christians who enjoy horror movies are automatically condemned? Give me a break! No offense or anything but that's complete and utter nonsense. Jesus saves not what kind of movies you watch. That's a HUGE insult if that's your point.

Is that what I said? No it is not.

If I had to attribute some meaning to what I said, it is that real life is more terrifying than any film. But it is a matter of perspective.

As one who has had vivid dreams of storms with the power to tear buildings to their foundation. And seeing the moon crashing to earth and waiting for the wall of fire to consume me. No, Hollywood has nothing on it.

Well then I apologize but that's sure what it sounded like. :/

You all should take this elsewhere and stop ruining @April_Rose thread

I'm all for people on the forum speaking their minds, History, as I said before. But if that includes numerous new threads on Halloween, Halloween music, Horror Movies, and a host of other related things, those who are opposed to such things ought to be able to say so as well. The only reason I'm reading this thread is because of the posts concerning the realities of true evil in this world. Matters of entertainment are interesting sometimes, but they don't have any bearing on the real spiritual war we are fighting for the souls of men.

This is not the place for that, start your own thread. Not everyone is a stick in the mud. I think I will has this thread closed. Honestly I don't know why I stay here. You all hate me or tell I am bad and your better. I think I might just ask them to close my account it is evident there is no fun to be had here :(.

I am sorry @April_Rose, @Michie and others but this feels like CF right now :(

Oh, come on, LoL. History, this place in nothing like CF. You just have to pick your battles around here. No one's taking away your constitutional rights or forbidding you from posting, they are just expressing their own feelings on the issue, and this is like the 5th or 6th thread on Halloween related issues. You don't seem to notice, but while I mean no offense to you or April Rose, it's starting to grate on people's nerves a little at this point, so the Halloween take over thing is receiving more backlash. The same thing would happen if 6 threads were posted on how much someone loved attending BLM and Antifa demonstrations, and waving around signs that said what a NAZI dictator Trump is. Both of you would probably want the right to be able to post something saying you find that disagreeable, yes?

What's the big deal? This is Christianity Board, not CF. You have to develop a thicker skin, because you will be confronted here. It is a guarantee. Doesn't mean anyone "hates" you.

Anyone see Svengoolie, he host a show on METV and shows old horror movies like one this week is about a giant spider and I forgot which one on Halloween.

I watched him a few times. I actually do find hm poking fun at the old "horror" movies kinda funny sometimes, Lol.

Also,.. no offense or anything but you've just about lost your mind if you think that we will support those terrorists groups. It would be just as much as we would support anybody doing the things they do in horror movies in real life.

Yeah,.. I've grown a thicker skin,.. it doesn't really bother me. And @Hidden In Him,.. you at least don't sound as pushy as a lot of the others.

I'm not, LoL. Above all, I believe in keeping it real, so I oppose anything that squelches freedom on expression and the right to be oneself, especially among what should be Christian friends. The trouble is seeing each other eye to eye sometimes, which considering what wildly different backgrounds and perspectives we come from can occasionally be a lot of work.

But we never get there if we're not real with one another, and allow each other genuine expression.

<Chuckling> I'm not in favor of them, trust me. You just haven't been here long enough to know it yet. I think maybe History gave you that impression because I mentioned that not everyone who demonstrates is a terrorist. But no, I'm about as strong an opponent of BLM as anyone at this site, save maybe History and Enoch (nearly everyone on this forum is).

This place is crazy town plus no respect. Really awful.

Sometimes... yes, LoL. But like in America, here you are free to say so. Do so at some other Christian forums I know of and you will receive the left foot of fellowship for it.

This one is hard for me I think the Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th series, and Halloween series (even Halloween 3 :) )

seen all of those a long time ago (when I was a teen). For me it is character development which kind of lacks in horror movies. The walking dead ... Do not know if you consider that horror but I’ve watched every episode because of an attachment to the characters. Do not know if you watch it but the scene where the mother laid her infant in the open field with the dead and the deaf girl risked her life to run in to save the infant; how they took you to what the deaf girl was hearing which was silence as she ran in through the walking dead to get the child...it still gets me.

@VictoryinJesus I guess it can sometimes be the difference between an intriguing video clip and a full length feature movie or documentary.
