I don't necessarily think it is always the case either, but there are numerous stories that suggest not everyone goes immediately.

The Word states that to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ. That's pretty clear. Certain sects of Jews have adopted many beliefs based in mysticism.

Right, I did see this idea associated with Jewish mysticism, which I don't believe is of God.

Well, that verse doesn't necessarily teach that the instant one comes out of body that he is instantaneously with the Lord. It can also be read as referring to when the transition has been resolved. I have read visions of the souls of the saints being escorted by angels in spirit along what was described as a type of tunnel that ascends from earth all the way to 3rd Heaven, and is likened to the same "ladder" that Jacob saw with angels descending up and down on it. I've also read accounts of the souls of the damned wandering about out of body until the demons came and dragged them to their eternal abode, or in some cases seduced them, i.e. lured them there until they realized where they were going, at which point they then started dragging them to Hell.

But those are not things I have witnessed personally, so I couldn't tell you for sure.

There's a scripture in the Book of Revelation stating that the sea, death and Hades give up the dead at the Great White Throne Judgment.

I decided to take you off ignore momentarily to point out that making assumptions that I follow Satan and I'm a part of the occult when I have already told you several times that I am not might be the cause of it. I apologize @Heart2Soul if this is off topic and I will go ahead and edit it later if you want me to,.. but I'm so tired of I'm always the guilty one where everybody else is completely innocent because that's what got kicked me off of CF (even though I did nothing on there) and I really don't want to go through that again.

After reading through this thread, I'm seriously questioning your motive, @April_Rose for setting this up.

You've been warned that the paranormal is dangerous, demonic. If you choose to be involved with the occult, you do so to your own detriment, but I am concerned about people that you may be influencing to think that the occult/paranormal is okay. That goes for everyone else posting in this thread who seem to be legitimatizing the occult.

The occult is of the devil--Satan! Involvement in the occult is always dangerous and harmful! As I told a devil-worshiping student of mine many years ago, the devil eats his children. If you open the door to the devil (or his demons) and entertain him in your life, he will destroy you!!!

I can't "chill" when it comes to the devil. I've seen too many people destroyed by him! Surely, you can understand where I'm coming from.

But I have prayed for you, and I hope that you will get rid of everything in your life that opens a door to demonic influence. I mean, everything. You can ask the Holy Spirit to show you, and He will.

Yes, I was beginning to wonder if you were promoting the occult. So that is why I said what I did, in case you were.

When you started this thread, you didn’t make it clear that you were only talking about the supernatural. In fact, you said you were talking about ghosts. (*See quote below.) The term paranormal has negative connotations because it usually doesn’t just mean supernatural.

When I talked about the devil destroying people, I have seen this firsthand in my family, and I don't want that to happen to anyone else in my path. I will do what I can to prevent it.

I pray that you will have such a strong relationship with Jesus Christ that you won't want to have anything to do with the devil.
