1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 3:5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

What does it mean to be cleansed from all unrighteousness? Does that include the desire to sin? Why instead of acknowledging "cleanse" do some believe the blood of Jesus only FORGIVES all unrighteousness, but we will still sin all of our lives, and Jesus cleanses our present and future sins as well as our past sins, but does nothing for the desire to sin. If we believe that Jesus' blood cleanses and forgives our past, present and future sins instead of making us truly born again with a new nature, and free from the desire to sin in the first place presently and in the future, isn't that is a slap in the face of how powerful we believe the blood of Jesus truly is?

Jesus came to make us truly righteous and holy as the Father is perfect. He came to make us like Himself - the first of many brethren. Romans 8:29 "For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren."

When I read your posts I can't help but feel Your message opposes what is written by paul

2 Corinthians 12:6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.

7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

That is heresy and outside the nature of God. Jesus makes us free from sin, to be able to call us children of God. John 8:34-36

If you sin, you are a sinner.
If Jesus makes you free from all desire to sin supernaturally, you are a child of God.
You are not both.

Disagree.
You are naturally born in sin.
You have committed sin.
You Are A Sinner.

BY the Authority and Power of Christ Jesus-
Your SINS ARE Forgiven-
You are NO Longer A SINNER...
You are Now a "Forgiven Sinner."
You can not ever Again "Commit sin".

You are preaching...about Desires...
You are preaching...you Can be "Forgiven AND continue"... TO Commit Sin.

"Forgiven Sin"...is NOT about a man's "desires", a man's "Power"...to TRY really Hard to NOT continue to Commit Sin.

It is GODS POWER within a man...that KEEPS a man Free from Sin...Free FROM EVER AGAIN committing Sin.

Again, (which you did not acknowledge my question or answer me...) I ask you What do you think Sin Is?

Glory to God,

It is GODS POWER within a man...that KEEPS a man Free from Sin...

Not according to the scriptures.

Mortifying the deeds body (Colossians 3:5) and not obeying the lusts of the flesh (Romans 6:12), walking in the Spirit, is what keeps man from sinning.

Please provide scripture to support your claim.

Sinless Perfectionism is Unbiblical
However, the Bible also says that ‘If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us’ (1 John 1:8).
Amen! Those who believe they live a sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolute perfect life 100% of the time (exactly as Jesus lived) are suffering from a terminal case of self righteousness. (1 John 1:8-10)

Rom 15:
[19 ...the power of the Spirit of God...

This scripture does not say we cease sinning by the power of God.

If this were true these scriptures would not have been written:

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

This scripture does not say we cease sinning by the power of God.

So what is your point?
You cease sinning BY your own Power?
Or perhaps...
You continue sinning while Gods Power IS IN You, and His Power sits idle, while you sin?

if we(believers) say we(believers) have no sin we(believers) lie and are not of the truth.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.

The scripture (above) is clearly in reference to one who has not been forgiven of their sins or cleansed yet. Upon confessing your sins, Christ takes them away resulting in no sin in the believers. So then what is written, “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not”, becomes fulfilled.

It’s quite easy to see if one has not been indoctrinated into a tradition of men.

So what is your point?
You cease sinning BY your own Power?

Yes.

Christ came to take sin away.

The Holy Spirit was given for:

1 Corinthians 12:7-10 KJV
[7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. [8] For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; [9] To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; [10] To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues

Nothing here that says the Spirit was given to enable sin resistance.

We must decide either to disobey God in sinning (serving sin), or choose to not sin in obedience to God (serving God).

Does that include the desire to sin?

I thought for the longest time that you and I were in Complete Agreement about All Things Biblical.....and I “ STILL” agree that you have the VAST majority of things correct....Rightly or wrongly, I detected “ Leaven” in some of your posts....and we Both should know that it only takes a “ Little Leaven” to spoil the whole batch...I am not ambitious enough to go back through all of the old posts, but if memory serves me , you were showing yourself to be somebody that was saying, “Yes, Jesus Saves, BUT you MUST REPENT to “ stay” saved....” That sounds great , but it is an Addition to Paul’s Gospel,Of Grace in 1Cor15:1........ Believers SHOULD Repent, and As a Believer I find myself Repenting quite often.....but, Paul never made it a Demand for getting saved....The DEMAND was BELIEVE in JESUS ...
I believe Repentance is MANDANTORY for getting Saved....the problem is, the Translators Of The Bible took Three Separate Greek and called them ALL “ repentance”.....Before Salvation, The Unbeliever must “ change his mind “ and “ turn” to God with Faith in Jesus Alone to Save Him —- If one goes from “ Unbelief in Jesus” to “ BELIEF IN JESUS” , He has undergone the “ Change Of Mind” ( from the Greek Word “ metanoia” , literally “ mind change” ), the Repentance that leads to being Saved....Surely, a sorrow for sin , a sense of shame and the desire to do better will often accompany this process , but that “ sorrow, shame and regret for sin” is not the precise thing that Saves — few lost sinners ever experienced “ that” type of Repentance more profoundly Than Judas ....had that Regret, etc lead him to Jesus , he would be in Paradise today with the Thief on the Cross That Repented and Repented Properly...... The Thief Turned to Jesus and got Saved—- Judas “ Turned” to a hangman’s Noose and is in Hell as we speak......

AfTER One has Properly Repented by Going from UNBELIEF to BELIEF in the Death, Burial and Resurrection in Jesus, and Believing He died for your sins, Plus Nothing, you are Saved and another type of Repentance comes into play—- it is the Conviction Of Doing something Sinful as a Believer ...this is where you did something Sinful and in your heart-of- Hearts , you probably even “ knew” you we’re doing wrong while you did it ! You experience a “ Godly Sorrow” , a pain in your Conscience put there by a Grieved Holy Spirit That is part of God's Discipline Plan for His Saved Children. The Bible refers to it as “ Chastizement”........ Do something Sinful......get Chastised for it enough times ....and the hope is that you will eventually Stop Doing it...One has the freedom to ignore these Chastisements if he still persists in his or her sinning.....God is very Merciful and understanding.....He can allow you to go farther and farther into your sin if you want to.....But God ain’t gonna be Mocked.....He has His Limits .....and He too has Freedom—— the freedom to strike you dead in your tracks! A wise man and especially a Believer dies not Trifle with God......
Anyway.....getting back to the Subject at hand.....We have seen that Repentance is Vital in the Salvation process .....so is Obedience .... they play a part in Salvation , but they are NOT the instruments that do the Saving..... Faith is the instrument ......Christ’s Blood and Our Faith.....”Without FAITH, it is Impossible to please God” .....” The man who finds life, will find it by Trusting ( putting your Faith in ) God.....”By Grace you are Saved— Through FAITH!”
Repentance can entail Turning From Sin and that is a great thing .....but it has a Nothing to do with “ receiving a Free Gift “ ....it won't Save a person nor will it Keep a person Saved....we cant even “ know” about all Of the Sins we have committed , much less Repent Of them all . And the millions of “ Sins Of Omission ?” Only a Fool would want to go there!
If you have gone from Unbelief in Jesus To a Belief in Jesus , you have Undergone the Repentance That God demands.....the instrument that “ GOT” you to Faith should not be confused with the Actual Faith itself......
If you claim that “ Jesus Saves, BUT after that you gotta Repent Of all of your Sins before you die or you will go to Hell “ is nothing more than saying , “ Yeah, Jesus Saves , But you gotta get Circumcised and keep the Law Of Moses to STAY Saved “ ......That is Nothing less than Modern Day Judaism....if you Believe that you are “ Fallen From Grace” , maybe damned.....maybe not.... One thing is for sure —- if you TEACH it ....you are “ Accursed” ..... God Damned for a Eternity....
You lead me to believe that this is your “ gospel”——- “ Jesus Saves , But!”......... If YOU or ANYBODY goes beyond “ Jesus Saves, PERIOD ! ——- You are NOT my Brother ....you are preaching a False , Perverted Gospel and you had better REPENT .....real quick like .....Relent Of Spreading Leaven-and we can be Brothers.....let me-know If and when you do.....

Newbies...never forget how “ righteous “ Gospel Additions can sound, but realize where they get you! 90 % of the Church World is “ Fallen From Grace” and doesn’t even know it....Satan has fooled the world into thinking it means something like happened to Jimmy Swaggert—- a “ good guy” gets caught being a “ bad guy” .....no.......” falling from Grace” means to reject the only thing that actually saves anybody ( GRACE! ) and trying to replace it with your “Good Works “ , typically, your Religion.....what “ YOU” do..... God rejected Cain’s Works and he will also also reject Yours! It really is “ Nothing But The Blood”....You sing it.....you had better start BELIEVING it! God bless...

You cease sinning by your OWN Power?
Wow... I am mere mortal and rely on the Power of Gods Spirit within me....to KEEP me free from Sin.

Rom 8:
[2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Nothing here that says the Spirit was given to enable sin resistance.

Whatever floats your boat.

9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

What is the meaning of this verse?

1. What does grace mean?
2. Do you believe sins are infirmities?
3. What are Paul's weaknesses?

I'm sure glad the grace of God rests upon me, giving me a thick skin! I've developed quite a following of haters. I'm not surprised. :)

I'm not even going to correct your misinterpretation of 1 John 1:8 again. You have heard it before, and still love to justify sin in the life of a Christian. Why? So you can feel better about yourself?

Free from the law of sin; not free from committing sins.

Free from Committing Sin, is By having the Baptism of the Holy Spirit....and the Conversion Gifts that Follow..
The Power of God.
The Seed of God.
The Circumcision of the heart.
The New Heart.
A new spirit.
Gods Spirit of Truth.
The Seal of God.

But apparently by your testimony- you don't sin by "your" OWN will.

and maybe just maybe you have 1 John 1:7-10 wrong.

Is there any light in the person who walks in darkness? 1 John 1:6 No! Because God is light. And we must have God inside of us. It is not talking about a true Christian. And neither is 8 and 10.
