No, I don't have smorgasborg religion...I read both the OT and the NT...I do not pick the NT only to be my spiritual diet (as a part).

Agreed I said Gods word is the truth but no human on this earth knows exactly what every scriptures means 100%. Scripture is without error not us.If you own a Bible you own a monopoly on the truth. Don't mess it up by letting someone interpret it for you. It's readable and easy to understand. It seems hard to understand because people read it while trying to figure out how to make it not mean what it says. They are afraid of it's truths.
You're a sinner. I'm a sinner. I'm forgiven. Are you?
@Michiah-Imla Ephesians 2.9 is very clear about faith being the basis. (Hebrews 11 also...)Amen.
Because they that have suffered in the flesh have ceased from sin (1 Peter 4:1).
@Michiah-Imla Ephesians 2.9 is very clear about faith being the basis. (Hebrews 11 also...)
@Michiah-Imla Ephesians 2.10 - 'we are His workmanship', etc. - follows on from Ephesians 2.9... :)Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Amen!
But then you must do the following:
“Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called”
And:
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk
And:
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts
And:
Be ye angry, and sin not
so:
fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
No one can boast that they worked to be cleansed of their former sins. However, once cleansed we can have whereof to glory, as Paul did:
I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.
I understand that. But if people would just read the thing they'd increase in knowledge. And I mean honestly read it without filtering it through whatever corrupted church they've been taught by. God's plan was that we'd meet together and discuss the scriptures and we'd learn that way. That way has been rejected by the church so we're pretty much on our own now.Agreed I said Gods word is the truth but no human on this earth knows exactly what every scriptures means 100%. Scripture is without error not us.
hope this helps !!!
It is by grace (not grace + merit) that we are saved through faith in Christ alone (not faith + works). It's not hard to understand. You seem to be obsessed with water baptism. Do you attend the church of Christ? That would explain a lot.
Mark 16:16 - He who believes and is baptized will be saved (general cases without making a qualification for the unusual case of someone who believes but is not baptized) but he who does not believe will be condemned. The omission of baptized with "does not believe" shows that Jesus does not make baptism absolutely essential for salvation. Condemnation rests on unbelief and not on a lack of baptism. So salvation rests on belief. *NOWHERE does the Bible say "baptized or condemned."
If water baptism is absolutely required for salvation, then why did Jesus not mention it in the following verses? (3:15,16,18; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26). What is the one requirement that Jesus mentions 9 different times in each of these complete statements? *BELIEVES. *What happened to baptism? *Hermeneutics.
John 3:18 - He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who (is not water baptized? - NO) does not believe is condemned already, because he has not (been water baptized? - NO) because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
yes the OT was written for the Jews/Israel and the NT says it was for our instruction. All we need to know for Christian salvation is in the NT. To preach the OT to non Christians is spiritual suicide!
I'm with you 100% and agree brother.I understand that. But if people would just read the thing they'd increase in knowledge. And I mean honestly read it without filtering it through whatever corrupted church they've been taught by. God's plan was that we'd meet together and discuss the scriptures and we'd learn that way. Baptism is implied and includedFalse. Romans 5:1 - Therefore, having been justified by faith, (faith and baptism? NO simply faith) we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith (and baptism? NO) into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

You can keep your 'central authority'. Man has proven he can not be trusted with 'central authority'. The church is so corrupted right now it's each man for himself these days. We all stand or fall by ourselves. Virtually all of us have a Bible and we're responsible for ourselves and what we did or did not listen to from the Spirit. The Bible and the Holy Spirit are sufficient for the believer to live for God in obedience to the Spirit and to be in spiritual unity with the true believers in the body of Christ. Christ died to set us free from the overlords among his people.
You misunderstood what I posted.
What I was saying is that once a person accepts what Christ did on the cross the Holy Spirit will convince that person to be "Christ like" and wants to do good works. I.o.w "works come as a result of coming to Christ.
But you probably disagree about this as well.
@Michiah-Imla Romans 3.23 is indeed foundational...For those who believe they are not sinners that don’t believe the gospel.
Not faith alone,@Michiah-Imla Romans 3.23 is indeed foundational...
@Christophany Great verses there...yes the OT was written for the Jews/Israel and the NT says it was for our instruction.
1 Corinthians 10
For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 2 They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. 3 They all ate the same spiritual food 4 and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.” 8 We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. 9 We should not test Christ, as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. 10 And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.
11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.
Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
hope this helps !!!
You can tell if you are really sticking to the New Covenant by if your faith upholds the law of Moses. If it does not uphold the law of Moses—because you have been taught by a corrupted church that it does not have to—then you are not sticking to the New Covenant at all. You just think you are. You do not have the faith that saves. You have dead faith, the faith that can not save a person, because dead faith is not faith.I'll stick with the New Covenant in Jesus' Blood.
Matthew 26:28 (NKJV)
28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
And that is exactly what I'm saying yet you insist that I'm saying works earn salvation. Since real Christian faith produces good works that makes works necessary for a person to be saved when Jesus comes back. Because if you ain't got those works YOU AIN'T A CHRISTIAN.Wrong. Real Christian Faith produces "good works".
He fulfilled the Sabbaths, and the Festivals, and the laws of sacrifice so that we don't need to do those anymore (but we can if we want). But the outstanding debt of law that remains to be fulfilled through Christ in us is the law summed up in "love your neighbor as yourself".Faith upholds the law by the holy apprehension that Christ has upheld it, fulfilled it for them. He for them obeyed all of its righteous precepts and endured it's righteous penalty for violation of it! Believe thou this?
