But in what sense?

It is clear from holy scripture that there are those even in the church at Sardis who are in some sense "worthy" (Revelation 3:4)...

and also, 1 John 3:7 shows clearly that those who are doers of righteousness are righteous even as He is righteous.

1 John 3:3 shows that there are those who have purified themselves even as He is pure.

And 1 John 2:6 shows that there are those who will walk even as He walked.

So, in what sense is Jesus alone worthy to take the scroll?

It is in the sense that He alone died on the Cross for the sin of humankind.

Only through His redemptive act can man obtain practical righteousness (Matthew 5:6, Romans 5:19, 1 John 3:7); a regeneration and renewing that is of the heart (Titus 3:3-7, 2 Corinthians 5:17 (kjv)): in which the inside of the cup and platter is made clean (1 John 1:7, Psalms 51:7, 1 John 3:3) so that the outside may be clean also (Matthew 23:25-26).

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?

(see Revelation 3:4)

I can testify that the Lord has made me whole through the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ!

So, in what sense is Jesus alone worthy to take the scroll?
In the sense that the Man Christ Jesus is the only one who paid the full penalty for the sins of the whole world, and then rose again for our justification.

In Revelation 5:5 we are told that Christ has PREVAILED. Prevailed over sin, death, Hades, Hell, and Satan.

In Revelation 5:6 we are shown how He has prevailed. (1) as a Lamb which had been slain and (2) as the one with the total power of the Holy Spirit.
