The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after savaging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. "God how could you do this to me!" he cried.

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. ""How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal." they replied.

It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is a work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God. For all the negative things we have to say to ourselves, God has a positive answer for it:

YOU SAY: "It's impossible"
GOD SAYS: ALL things are possible Luke 18:27

YOU SAY: "I'm too tired"
GOD SAY'S: I will give you rest

YOU SAY:"Nobody really loves me"
GOD SAY'S: I love you John 3:18, John 3:34

YOU SAY: "I can't go on"
GOD SAY'S: My grace is sufficient for you II Corinthians 12:9 & Psalm 91:15

YOU SAY: "I can't figure things out"
GOD SAY'S: " I will direct your steps Proverbs 3:5-6

YOU SAY: "I'm not able"
GOD SAY'S: I AM able

YOU SAY: "It's not worth it"
GOD SAY'S: It will be worth it Romans 8:28

YOU SAY: "I can't forgive myself"
GOD SAY'S: I forgive you 1 John 1:9 ^& Romans 8:1

YOU SAY: "I can't manage"
GOD SAY'S: I will supply all your needs Philippians 4:19

YOU SAY: "I'm afraid"
GOD SAY'S : i HAVE NOT GIVEN YOU A SPIRIT OF FEAR II Timothy 1:7

YOU SAY: I'm always worried and frustrated"
GOD SAY'S: Cast ALL your cares on me I Peter 5:7

YOU SAY: "I don't have enough faith"
GOD SAY'S: I've given everyone a measure of faith Romans 12:3

YOU SAY: "I'm not smart enough"
GOD SAY'S: I give you wisdom James 1:5

YOU SAY: "I feel all alone"
GOD SAY'S: I will never leave you or forsake you Hebrews 13:5

Thanks Helen,
I got that from The Genesis Center. They have some good stuff now and then...it is run by an Episcopal Church...they just got a new Reverend and it is a "she". We love her spirit so much. This strong faithed woman is unable to ever sit down. She wears braces on both legs right up to her back to her toes. Her attitude is such that, if God would make her body whole today would she say yes? No, she said I wouldn't because of the grace He has extended to me. Her sweet gentle spirit inspires me...even though I do not believe or subscribe to some of their doctrines. They show true agape love to our community!

Thanks Helen, and yes, she is a true overcomer...complete strangers ask her such ignorant questions but, she handles it well. She will take their hand, say something like, I am so happy to meet you! Why don't we wait until we get to know one another a bit before I answer that? She puts it better but, very humble.

For sure Helen, yes! We are like white gloves checking for dust...if we surround ourselves with more of the unbelievers, our gloves become dirty, if we keep in fellowship, they stay clean. What does darkness have to do with light??? Even though we are not to take ourselves from the world, but when we have each other to lift us up...we will be more prepared to give a reason for our hope ❤
