My church had fought Senate Bill 2 and House Bill 2007 in Oregon. It's exactly the same as what you have mentioned in the above post. With all of the petitions, we were able to set up a referendum to vote later on.

I am not that educated on everything that had involved religion in Congress, but it is my personal opinion that the reason why this country and culture seems so out of whack these days and the reason why there are so many different laws about the same subject is that no one wants to base the law off of religion. I feel as though I am being agressive and very blunt about this, but even though this is the 'melting pot' of the world, the original government that established the land of the free based most decisions off of God's laws. Our government should embrace Christianity and anyone that believes in another religion, is free to do so. The intent of our constitutional rights has been lost in translation.

You can't say that. If anything, we are currently in the State warned about in Romans 1: 18-36. Given over or our own degrading passions. And worse yet, we now believe that it is our Christian duty to bombe the entire world into joining our slouch towards Gomorra. This goes against the 1st amendment. Congress can't make laws against Religion, the practice of religion or free speech. This falls under all three. They can teach homosexuality in public schools but they can't stop us from telling them that it is wrong. I bet if we had enough money to pay for really good lawyers we could get them to reverse the decision on teaching homosexuality as it is against our religion. I'm so glad I moved from Kalifornia, I should have done it ten years earlier.

Well, I'm not the sort that believes homosexuality is wrong, but even I can't stand behind this bill. For Life is right - it's a clear first amendment violation. If they were teaching homosexuality was wrong in schools that would be one matter, but to tell a church - something that no one is forced into and joins purely out of choice - that they can't express their own opinions is just wrong.

It's a definite reality. We were asked through frc (Family Research Council)to call our state senators to express how feel about this Hate Crimes proposed legislation a while back. We wanted them to vote against putting it into play because it is against our 1st amendment right. Nevertheless, there are those that are saying since Christians speak out against other groups publically (be it in church or anywhere) they should be fined or have some consequence. Yet the other side has freedom to use filthy language on the streets of our country, play terrible music for our children to be exposed to, and can show and sell trash at the movies and in video stores. I guess it's all a sign of the times.
