They did not know a God by that name
They knew Him by the name of YHWH...

The name of Jesus means "YHWH is salvation"...the conclusion of YHWH revealing Himself in many such epitaphs...

YHWH-Tsidkenuh, YHWH-shalom, YHWH-Rapha, YHWH-Jireh, etc.

God ordained him as the first-born of all creation, ...not Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses or David, ....
Colossians 1:17 is saying that Jesus is the atomic glue that holds everything together.

v.15 teaching us that He has preeminence over all creation.

Luke 1:15 KJV
[15] For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
This has always been fascinating to me, the Lord views Him and He is Lord.

Luke 1:15 is speaking of John the Baptist.

I believe what needs to be received is He came in the likeness of sinful flesh

Romans 8:3 KJV
[3] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

I believe when He was tempted in the wilderness it was that part of Satan in us all that nags and tempts us all as the word states He was tempted just as we are, difference being He was able to overcome due to the immeasurable filling of the Holy Ghost.

I personally believe the one tempting was the sinful flesh.

hope this helps Zeus.

You all need to stop your silly arguments and see, if any of you had the power that The Christ has you’d beat your own shadows to the highest pinnacle to cast your selves down to be bared up so you could get all the Glory

I mean come on look at what the temptations were His belly, money and the praise of men, there was no creature standing before him, only him standing there alone faced with the same we all are.

THE FILTHY FLESH!

Actually, that would be the temptation.

You're doing it again. This is a thread on the ridiculous notion of the alleged deity of Christ, the god-man. What you are expressing lately has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Jesus was a creature, and still is.

There is a reality, that scripture is a few words, impressions into which we project our interpretations.
As soon as one uses words like "ridiculous notion" you raise yourself up to the definer of truth rather than the discoverer of truth.
And so much of what we accept as truth is emotional, subjective and based on our emotional history and bias.

It is why Jesus said this profound thing. "Blessed are the pure in heart, they will see God"
When God came and touched us through Jesus, He exalted us up to be His companions and friends.

That is something very profound. And it is the whole point of Jesus being God, the Messiah, the embodiment of the Father on earth.
And it is your perspective with its certainty and dismissiveness which reveals why you cannot see another perspective.

Scripture is a fantastic book, we see what we are looking for. Our faith or view is only shattered if a different perspective cannot be opposed.
One believer was so biased, he would deny the very words he wrote if they showed a different perspective or a contradiction in his logic.
There was no winning or showing something else, because he was not allowed to see this other perspective because emotionally it would have cost him too much. It is why to see Jesus we have to be prepared to die to the world and everything we know to find eternity and life with Him.

And I testify this is how it feels, but it is just us giving up our security in the world and resting on our security in Jesus.
God bless you
