"Armageddon" simply means the mount of gathering. It would appear to be referring to a future war, however, the "gathering" and the "war" exists from the beginning to the end of times.

To the contrary of popular belief, the future is now, and is "as the days of Noah" in that most do not see what is happening. The rest of what is written about, "knowledge shall increase" etc., is true of every generation--also not just future.
