Reading this forum I’ve observed the Jezebel spirit on here. Fellow believers discern who they are: By Grace, Butterfly, Taken. By their fruits ye shall know them.

Haha! Then you are a better man than I !! :D

You have been here five minutes and already you are trying to start a division and trouble.

By your chosen avatar name, you obviously believe that you are quite-something special.

Not impressed. :(

I just say.. "Oh never mind, he's just one of them"

Seem we are obviously on two different sides of the fence on this Topic. :D
But it's not a beach to die on...

I'd like to know what others believe.
Just ignore these preachers and stick to the Word of God.

Only God knows who is truly a child of God and who is not. Not preachers trying to make a name for themselves and garner wealth for themselves at the same time.

And children of God have the indwelling God the Holy Spirit, therefore no other spirits can take possession. Indeed the triune Godhead is within each and every child of God. And greater is He (God) that is in you, than he that is in the world (Satan).

I used to attend Pentecostal Holiness activities all the time. It seemed as though it got harder and harder to get anything done. It was almost like warfare trying to get anykind of ministry up and running.

I was at youth camp one summer and made the comment to a brother referring to, "the devil in church people." Oh!, says he, the devil cant go against the blood of the lamb and actually made a case against me, and brought it up before others.

Years later, at camp meeting, he looks me up and apologizes for his remarks. I have often wondered what trials the poor man encountered that made him come to the conclusion that yes, the devil can work through church people.

I have looked into the eyes of a church minister and seen a demon looking out from behind his eyes.
Not all church ministers are necessarily saved. Only God knows if this man was truly a child of God or not. If you believe you saw a demon, that would mean that this person was not truly saved. There are probably thousands of clergy who are not really saved. The religious leaders who opposed Christ were not saved either. They were also what one might call "church ministers" (rabbis).

It is totally contrary to Scripture to teach that a genuine Christian can be demon possessed. Oppression (external) is not the same as possession (internal).

All who came to Jesus for healing and deliverance were saved, they had faith. When Jesus saw their faith, he knew he could justly heal and deliver them because he knew their sins were marked for payment on the cross.

Those who came to Jesus were saved when He walked the earth. We know that He drove demons out of people such as the man of Gadara. He sent them into the pigs and they rushed off a cliff. But do you think that a Christian today can have a demon in them even though they're saved? That's what I read in one book and listened to a sermon by Derek Prince.

What makes me wonder it too is that I've seen Christians fall back and I wondered if it was more than just the flesh. The co-worker who led my husband to Christ backslid badly - he began drinking and hanging with worldly people. I just wonder if it's something more than the flesh driving peoples behavior and why they can't seem to overcome a problem. It might also be that pastors teach erroneous doctrine - that Christians can't have a demon.

Demons are more at work in the church than anywhere else. Many people put their faith in the doctrine of demons.....because it appeals to the selfish flesh.

There are religious demons. There is a power to take people away from understanding even the most basic words. I think that most Christians are under the spell of religious demons through mass indoctrination. The devil works in the crowds...with the masses.

I'll prove it right here...

Rev. 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

In the above verse Jesus describes the different destinies of mankind based on what they have done.

So how many destinies are there according to Jesus?

How many destinies to you think there are?

Why?

I think demons are at work in the church too - look at all the church splits and the nasty fights that happen. I read that demons are assigned to every church. I did just read that about religious demons. I've never been in a church where that has been taught though and I wonder if they're neglecting an important aspect of the Christian experience. If Christians aren't alert to the fact that religious demons can operate in a church then they're likely to be unaware when a problem crops up in the church caused by them.

There are born again Christians (to which 1 John 4:4 applies; and who cannot be demon-possessed; being filled with the Holy Ghost); and there are Christians who are believers in name only, who don't have the Holy Ghost.

Jesus said that those who don't gather with Him scatter. If He is dwelling in you, demons will not be able to co-habitate; unless there is a room in your house that you are not giving the Lord access to and that demon is dwelling there. If the Lord has control of "the kitchen," the demon will not have access to food and will not be able to live in you for very long...it will leave because it is hungry. A good way to get rid of demons therefore is to starve them out. But the primary weapon is to give the Lord access to every part of your life so that He is dwelling in and the Lord of every room in the house.

That's insightful and makes sense.

Without a doubt demon possession is a thing to be taken seriously, and as we draw nearer to the consummation of all things, so we will witness this more and more. But I am reluctant to speak of Christians as being demon possessed, presuming they are indeed truly converted. No converted person can be such without the holy Spirit dwelling within...and remember, the Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. Can Christ and the devil share the same space? I know that OSAS is a thing, but I would suggest that if any church going individual is demon possessed, he is no longer in the faith.
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

I've seen some Democrats who I believe are infested with demons - look at some of the crazy things they're doing. I've read the same thing that you have - that Christ and a demon can't share the same place. But I just read a book by Rev. Don Basham and he said they could. It's interesting that Christians disagree on this. But Rev. Basham was in the deliverance ministry and he saw it all close-up.

Addressing the OP only, not saying that you're right or wrong, but consider this. Evil has always dwelt with Good, just God back to the Garden of Eden.

but also consider this. Evil is not SIN, let me say this again, Evil is not Sin, but can cause one to sin.

also, consider this. the term demons are another idenification of evil attributes, or characteristics. let's give a good example of this.
Mark 5:1 "And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
Mark 5:2 "And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Mark 5:3 "Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
Mark 5:4 "Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
Mark 5:5 "And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
Mark 5:6 "But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
Mark 5:7 "And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
Mark 5:8 "For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
Mark 5:9 "And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
Mark 5:10 "And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
Mark 5:11 "Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
Mark 5:12 "And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

ok, from reading these verses, it appears that there are many "devils" ... right NO, only "ONE". notice in verse 2 "spirit", no s at the end to indicate more than one. it was one spirit that had many "attributes" of evil. but notice when the spirit answered he said that he was "Legion" meaning MANY, but it was one spirit. just as it it said in verse 12, "Devils", with the "s" at the end. so are there many devils or one?.... of cource one devil. but he come in "many" forms. lust, fornication, adultery, envy... ect.......

yes, we possess those characteristics, or traits, even while saved. these are the works of the flesh. again, evil is not sin, but can cause one to sin. 1 John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us". but here's the kicker, the Holy Spirit if you let him will help keep you from sinning. just as the very next chapter states, if we fail. 1 John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous".

always understand the Spirit helps our spirit, not our flesh. Galatians 5:16 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:17 "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Galatians 5:18 "But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

you can finish the chapter here in Galatians,
we Hope this Helps

You made some good points.

I have never seen any evidence of the Lord having a special minister for "deliverance". All 12 disciples/apostles were given that power as they relied on the Spirit of God and the authority His name wields. All of us have that ministry, so I look on anyone claiming to be a "specialist" with a little suspicion. That said, I believe some churches neglect that aspect of ministry to their detriment.

I see it as more insidious than even that. There is a fanaticism I have seen in many evangelicals....this obsession with their own salvation. This claiming to be righteous while they live a very common life according to the flesh....but religiously. The Pharisees were more honest than these in many ways...but that same religious pride is there....judging others as "unsaved" while they themselves are actually worse than the ones they are condemning....since their sins are more severe than the sins of the flesh.

Seems like we come from similar backgrounds.
We too were around when Derek Prince was ministering. ( loved his series on The Blood Covenant)

My husband and myself in the 70's-80's were in the deliverance ministry.
Like you , we have looked them in the eye, and heard them argue that would not come out. We have cast them out. One poor bound ( christian) man it took our team three days..(demons don't sleep) to help him. We had a team of six of us and traded off three and three, demons don't get tired either.

I have many sad stories of how they wrecked the lives of Christians.
Two of them were ministers. One we took into our home blah blah.
The other one was a missionary. He came to us and pleaded for us to help him. At that time our girls were only aged 10 and 11 so we couldn't take him into our home.
His story was that he was saved out of being into evolution and witchcraft . After being saved he went to the mission field..was there 20 years. He used to come home for breaks to England and became our friend.
Long story short, the CLC ( Christian Literature Crusade) asked him to write a book against evolution..and one against witchcraft, how he came out of it.
So he moved back to England. As the months of his research into and writing he told us he could feel the darkness almost suffocating him, we prayed for him against the darkness. He wanted to quit writing about it, but the CLC wanted him to continue and said christians needed the book.

End of story, they took him , he called us whispering, not his voice... we got our church to pray and fast while we went to battle against the spirits.
Even his face had changed.
I don't want to scare people, I wont tell all what they were doing to him.
Except that whenever he fell off to sleep they would pinch and prod hum awake.
We lost him..he believed what they whispered in his ears..they described how they would kill him... he could get a hold of God, he believed the lies being told him. We tried to cast them out obviously, but he could not believe that he, we, and God were the majority. ( it's almost impossible to cast spirits out of christians who are not fighting with you) He'd lost all his confidence and fight.

That one was the saddest cases.. .he was a very dear friend.
I could ramble on, but this is enough ...
So my answer to the topic is... Y E S they can , and not just one.

Yes I read that he was either from England or lived there I believe. That's really interesting that you were in the deliverance ministry Helen, I have respect for believers who do that because I read that it's very hard, very exacting. That's interesting that they don't sleep - I've never heard that. I know that demonized people are supposed to be very strong and we saw a very thin, unhealthy woman who I believe was demonized, wrestling with two big cops and they couldn't hold her. I've never seen anything like it. She shouldn't have had that kind of strength.

That's sad that they wrecked the lives of those ministers. It's a shame that you were unable to help them.

That's some story about the man you helped, thank you for sharing it. I've read stories of demons attacking in the way you mentioned. I wonder why he couldn't get victory over them since we're supposed to have a stronger spirit as in "Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world." It's hard to hear of stories like that and I wonder what the missing element is - why he couldn't gain the victory.

What I have found is that these specialized ministries are themselves caught up in the same error as everyone else. They seek a magic power from a magic Jesus. But their whole premise is false. It isn't based on a different kind of life. It is a religious grasping at God's healing power...but from a carnal life. So the purpose is undermined. We are supposed to be helping people away from a carnal life.....not IN a carnal life.

I see no distinction whatsoever in the modern church from being IN Christ and in the flesh. And that is because people no longer understand what being IN Christ entails. There is a veil over the modern church that hides the life of Jesus Christ from them.
What is lacking is not religious beliefs....no the opposite is true about that. What is lacking is the faith OF Jesus Christ....from a LIFE OF Christ. The power of a resurrection life that causes us to walk in step with Jesus...in reality and truth.

When the premise is not set, there is room for disagreement.

Either the premise is Christians OR Born Again (ie Converted) Christians.
When that is NOT KEPT clear through the conversation, there is now room for disagreement.

The way to help a Christian away from demonic power and influence is through a better influence and power. It is through knowledge of the truth. The truth sets us free. So then God's people indeed perish through lack of knowledge. This fact magnifies the efforts of people who walk in the truth (or have walked in the truth) to help their brethren be freed from bondage.

Of course these brethren that are in bondage are usually as proud as any Pharisee and will resent any help...thinking that they who are trying to help them are just doing so in the same bondage they are in. These are the ones who will perish...even while claiming to be saved.

But God indeed gives grace to the humble...and sends the religiously proud away.

If a person resists the truth in a brother...then his/her condemnation is just and assured. There is no surer way to reject Christ than to send a brother away who walks in the truth.
