No; the idea that Peter had not been water baptized yet when Acts 2:38-39 rolled around.
The baptism of the Holy Ghost does not remit sins, but leads a person to find remission of sins per Acts 2:38.
It's not the reality (did I perhaps refute this in a different thread? I will repeat it again here).
In John 4:1-2, it should be clear that people were baptized under Jesus' ministry.
What makes you think that Peter and the 120 were not baptized at that juncture?
Lets look at your verse with honest eyes.
Notice, """"he who believes and is baptized....shall be saved, and he who does not BELIEVE = shall be damned."""
See that?
Its only by not BELIEVING that you are DAMNED.
The water is not a part of it.
So, what damns you, is only the BELIEVING NOT............and that is because the water has no power to save, so, it has no power at all.
But if you dont BELIEVE, you will go to hell, and if you do believe, you wont.
Water need not apply.
So you think Jesus meant "he that believeth and is NOT baptized shall be saved"?
Well, that is the complete opposite of what he actually said...
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Now, if you can make the highlighted go "poof" and vanish, then your point is made.
Yes, faith alone can save you.
Those who merely believe "should not perish" (John 3:16)
Those who believe and are baptized "shall be saved" (Mark 16:16)
Those who call on the name of the Lord "shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
In the days of the early church, people called on the name of the Lord when they were baptized (Acts of the Apostles 22:16).
Merely believing is too iffy of a prospect for me to have never been baptized.
That is why I believe it was expedient for me to receive baptism in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins.
Those that don't believe, and are obviously not willing to be baptized, will obviously be damned.
Jesus was spot on.

Here is what Christendom now teaches in these last days before the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ....

Because the water cult lie is this .....during the water baptism, you "get the gift of the Holy Spirit". "the gift of tongues" and are born again, according to Acts 2.
So, notice, ..>Peter did not speak in Tongues, until Acts 2:38., as He was told by JESUS to go to Jerusalem, and wait for that power from on High.
And it FELL., before Peter preaches.... and Peter was born again, and began to speak in Tongues,...before he preached the John the Baptist message you find in the Old Testament = repent and get wet.
So, no water is involved with Peter, before he Preached, ....and he was born again and speaking in tongues already as that power from on high fell on Him, and the 120.
Yet the water cults say this is when it happens......in the water, and by the water.
Well, it didnt happen to Peter that way, and it didnt happen to the 120 in the upper room that way.
Did God make a mistake that day? Did God forget to bring the water?
Or is water cult theology a "doctrine of devils".

= That is : The dying Thief who was saved and there was no WATER BAPTISM.
Now you have Peter and the 120 in the Upper Room, all born again, speaking in tongues, and there is NO WATER BAPTISM involved.
THATS BIBLE, for those of you who read one and are not lost is commentaries and water cults.
Remember now...>Peter was telling those jews to get water baptized, AFTER - Peter is already speaking in tongues, not having been water baptized.

So, the math says that 1 dying thief and 120 believers, including Peter, =121 BELIEVERS > all born again...= didnt get water baptized before they were born again, and 120 spoke in tongues..
Thats the reality check.

Truly, a man can be saved through water baptism;
But there are also situations (such as in Acts of the Apostle 10) where the people were saved first and then baptized.
Not given; however the number is recorded in Acts of the Apostles 2:41. I just noticed that it was an approximate number.
They spoke in tongues before verse 38.
This did not remit anyone's sins.
They found remission of sins per obeying Acts 2:38.
Peter taught that and they obeyed.
You need to obey too.
