EX 16:29 Bear in mind that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Everyone is to stay where he is on the seventh day; no one is to go out." 30 So the people rested on the seventh day.

Don’t travel on the Sabbath. Orthodox Jews, to this day, do not walk more than a mile from their homes on the Sabbath. Nor do they ride in any vehicle since motors replaced animals as the source of power to move vehicles and, thus, the motor is the equivalent of the animal which God commanded should rest on the Sabbath.

EX 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.

1. Don’t you or anyone in your household do any work on the Sabbath.
2. It also includes animals which have been replaced by cars, trucks, tractors, busses, airplanes, trains, etc., So don’t work and don’t use any kind of motorized vehicle on the Sabbath.

EX 31:14 " `Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; whoever does any work on that day must be cut off from his people. 15 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death. 16 The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. 17 It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested.' "

1. The seventh day is for rest; do not work on the Sabbath.
2. Israelites are to observe the Sabbath. (not gentiles, Israelites)
3. The Sabbath is a sign between God and Israel. (Again: Israel; not gentiles)
4. God abstained from work and rested on the 7th day and Israel is to do the same.

EX 35:1 Moses assembled the whole Israelite community and said to them, "These are the things the LORD has commanded you to do: 2 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death. 3 Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day."

1. The command concerning keeping the Sabbath Holy came from the LORD not from Moses.
2. Rest on the Sabbath and do no work.
3. Do not light a fire in your dwelling on the Sabbath. (Furnace, oven, light bulb)

LEV 23:3 " `There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.

Rest on the Sabbath; don't do any work. (NO HOMEWORK, KIDS!)

DT 5:12 "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest, as you do.

Don’t use any utility (electricity, gas, internet, telephone, etc.) or public service (roads, police, radio, TV, bus, etc.) that requires anyone to work on the Sabbath in order to provide the service.

So, if you cook breakfast and then drive to church then you have desecrated the Sabbath by starting a fire in your dwelling (stove) and making your "animal" (car) work.

If you take the buss to church then you make someone else work on the Sabbath. (Bus driver.)

If you stop at the Piggly-Wiggly on the way home to pick up some more milk, then you are making the store employees work on the Sabbath.

If you listen to the radio, watch TV or turn on a light, you are making the people who keep the utilities running do work on the Sabbath.

Who keeps the Sabbath "holy" among today's Sabbatarians?

Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

Are you suggesting Jesus Christ broke the fourth commandment. Apart from this, differernt times and circumstances, call for different actions and testimony. The children of Israel had recently heard God Himself speak the fourth commandment in words which sounded like thunder and shook and entire mountain which quaked and smoked like a chimney stack. To ignore such a recent command given by the mouth of God to you personally, while being fed with Manna from heaven every day, and covered from the rays of the sun by a miraculous cloud every day, and being warmed by a pillar of fire above your nation every night, would have been an unforgivable affront to God who was providing all of the same. Nor is God giving everyone a double portion of mannna from heaven every Friday to prepare food for the Sabbath on that day. Many such things applicable to the Jews under such miraculous circumstances, would obviously not be applicable today by a just God.

Nevertheless, the fourth commandment itself does not specify all you wish to burden those who observe this day with. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ kept the seventh day sabbath perfectly, and taught its proper observance as well. I hope you don't mind if we look to Him, rather than your obviously prejudiced admonition.

<< Are you suggesting Jesus Christ broke the fourth commandment >>

I made no such suggestion and have no idea why you would ask such a question.

<< Apart from this, differernt times and circumstances, call for different actions and testimony. >>

That's the excuse the advocates of homosexuality use.

Scripture says, "For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." (Mat 5:18)

<<The children of Israel.....>>

Yes. The Sabbath is a sign between ISRAEL and God, (EX 31:17) not between Christians and God.

<<Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ kept the seventh day sabbath perfectly,....>>

Of course He did; He is a Jew.

I'm not a Jew; are you?

If not then here's what Scriptures says:

Act 15:22-29 Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, men who were leaders among the believers. With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings.

We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul—men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing.

It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

Do you see anything about Gentiles keeping the Sabbath there?

<< the fourth commandment itself does not specify all you wish to burden those who observe this day with. >>

No it doesn't. But God, in His wisdom provided specific instructions as to how to keep the Sabbath holy. Otherwise, "Remember to keep the Sabbath" would be a totally meaningless command.

And, it is not ME who defined exactly how to keep the Sabbath; it is GOD who did so. That's why I quoted GOD's commandments in the scriptures on exactly how to keep the Sabbath.

So, if you are going to keep the commandments, then keep it according to GOD's commandments, not yours.

<< I hope you don't mind if we look to Him, rather than your obviously prejudiced admonition. >>

How is quoting God's word an "obviously prejudiced admonition"?

Either you keep the Sabbath according to God's commandments or your are just pretending to keep the Sabbath.

Pick one.

Romans 14:4-6King James Version (KJV)
4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

That is all good, Jim...or it would be if we were still under the Old Covenant.
We aren't. All those attached laws are no longer applicable.

But did you know that the New Covenant was also made with Israel?

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

If you reject the first covenant because it was made with Israel, then this covenant is also not for you. Or do you acknowledge that you have been grafted in to the root which is Israel?
You can't have it both ways...

Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

We see here that God's law (i.e. the Ten Commandments) will not only be a part of the New Covenant...it will be written within our very being.

Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more

And there it is. Grace. Forgiveness. This is the New Covenant, made with the New Israel.
No longer will we be "under the law" of sin and death. But this does not mean that the Ten Commandments have been "done away"...that's just ridiculous.

I don't know why I should help you with your campaign to keep people from enjoying their Sabbath day...
But driving a car is not wrong for the reasons you gave. Rather it would be forbidden under the Mosaic law because it is "kindling a fire".
Other than that, you pretty much covered the Old Covenant Sabbath.

But what will you do with the New Covenant?

Do the Ten Commandments still apply under the New Covenant?

May I, for instance:
1. Worship the goddess, as Wiccans do? I mean, I am a female.
2. Worship an idol? Those little Buddhas are so cute...
3. Some idiot just cut me off as I was making my turn...again! I'm afraid I used some very naughty language...sprinkled in amongst it was the Lord's name. But that's okay, right?
4. We know that I don't have to worry about this one, right? God may have set it aside and sanctified it and all that rubbish...but that was a long time ago.
5. All my Mom ever does is criticize me. I'm just so tired of it! Would it be okay if I just smacked her a good one? Just once?
6. I know my wealthy uncle has left his estate to me in his will...but he is disgustingly healthy! I can't wait, I need the money now! How about I just help him over death's door a little?
7. I'm so bored with my husband. An exciting new man just moved into my neighborhood, and he's been giving me "the look". He's got a wife, but...who cares, right?
8. You know, murder is so messy. Besides, I really like my uncle. Maybe I'll just steal something valuable...I can wait for the rest, I guess.
9. There's a new girl at work. I hate her. She is younger than me, and she's getting all the attention I used to get. I'll just start a couple of nasty rumors about her.
10. Covet? I've got no time for that...I'm too busy plotting how I can take what I want.

Of course, no Christian would dare to endorse this kind of behavior.
I.....
uh...
Well, I hope not, anyhow.

What do YOU say?

It's always better to keep days that God made Holy (Genesis 2), and Commanded (Ex 20), than to blindly follow the pope and the pagan Roman system and his days of sunday, dec 25th and easter, all of which are non Biblical...but seems the vast majority of "christians" are blinded and do not see that...as satan told Eve in the Garden "God will not mind"...knock yourselves out following the lies and deception of the counterfeit religious system, folks...as God said in scripture and Paul reiterated in Hebrews 8 "I will write my laws on their hearts and minds, and I will be their God, and they will be my people"...so if you do not have His laws written on your hearts and minds guess what? Better check the spirit you are following, because it is not from God!

And remember always, salvation is through the Son of God, God's grace and commandments and NOT the sungod/satan and his doctrines and days of sunday, dec 25th and easter, all of which are non Biblical and of pagan origin!

Why would you want to follow these days, as they are "traditions of man"?? Thanksgiving? Every day is thanksgiving to God for the blessings He has given us..why one worldy day a year??? again "traditions of man" July 4th, mothers day, fathers day, birthdays...ditto.."traditions of man" If you sooner follow them than God's commandments, go for it..your free will lets you do that..but Jesus warned against it...who you want to follow worldly man and his traditions, or Jesus and God's Holy word..choice is yours!

Remember always, Salvation is through the Son of God, God's grace and commandments and NOT the sungod/satan and his doctrines and days of sunday, dec 25th and easter, all of which are non Biblical and of pagan origins!

Wow.
How sad...no birthdays, no Mother's Day, no Father's Day, no Thanksgiving...just the dull routine, day after weary day...
What a dull, boring way to worship.

I am a 'Sabbatharian'.
You may call me a 'Sabbatharian'.
Please do call me a Sabbatharian.
Jesus Christ was, ever before had been, and today still is a Sabbatharian; actually He is the Boss Sabbatharian; who calls Himself "Lord of the Sabbath Day".
Hey! I feel good! thinking I'm a follower of his!

Do I <<keep the Sabbath>>?

No; since it is "The Son of Man Who keeps the Sabbath"!

Hey, now I feel extra good!

Can you play on Sunday like I play on the Lord's Sabbath Day?

Then please show me!

Fourth Commandment of God's law "remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy.....Genesis 2 God created the Sabbath day (7th day of the first week) on which He rested, blessed and sanctified the seventh day of the week...it is always a good idea to obey God if one calls themselves a Christian, or even if you are not a Christian...Jesus kept the seventh day, Sabbath day, so it seems a good idea for Christians to do the same. Sabbatarian is a non Biblical cute word established by the worldly crowd, who seem to despise the commandments of God....The worldly crowd seem to have problems thinking outside the box so to speak, and have to find a nice little word to categorize everything..it is called brainwashing..

Remember, salvation is through the Son of God, the grace of God, and His commandments, and not the sungod satan and his doctrines and days of sunday, dec 25th and easter, all of which are non Biblical and of pagan origin!

I'm so glad that we are under the New Covenant. God's laws are still in force...but now we have grace. And how dearly bought is that grace!
Therefore I do not spit on the cross of Christ by ingnoring His commandments. Yes, I keep the Sabbath...but not according to Mosaic law. I keep it the way Christ kept it. He is, as someone else said, The Lord of the Sabbath.
Halelujah, Amen!

As for Christmas, or Easter, or Thanksgiving, I don't see any reason why we should not celebrate them, as long as we do it to the glory of God. Is it wrong to praise the Lord for the precious gift of His Son? Is it wrong to celebrate His resurrection, with all that it means for each of us? Is it wrong to set aside a day to thank Him for all of the blessings He has given us? I don't see how it could be.
Even the Fourth of July can be an occasion of worship, if you find that you are grateful to live in a country where you are free to worship God! There are many Christians who do not enjoy this freedom, who are in prison or worse for their faith.

Birthdays? Does anyone really think it is wrong to celebrate your child's birth? Somehow, I just don't think God is going to send anyone to hell for having a clown and some birthday cake for their kid on his special day.
Even Halloween...some call it "Satan's day". Of course, it never was "Satan's day"....but even if he thinks he has some claim on it, surely it is a major kick in the old serpent's behind to have little children dressing up to mock him, having fun, and, of all things, collecting candy....oh, my! It's enough to send him whimperiing, back into the shadows....but God smiles at the sound of childish laughter...doesn't He?
But there's always some palooka out to ruin everyone's fun...

Joh 9:14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
Joh 9:15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
Joh 9:16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

So you see you dont keep teh sabbath as He did. he did the work of His father loving he sinners and healing them. God never stops working. But of course teh religious hated Him for it.

Many, many people who keep the Sabbath "do good" on the Sabbath.
I doubt if anyone has made clay and opened any blind eyes...but they have ministered to people...they have shared the gospel message, certianly.
It would be lawful to volunteer in a food bank or a soup kitchen on the Sabbath, for instance...and many people who think as I do have done just that.
You have made an assumption here...

EDIT:
I like how you say "loving the sinners".
You do know that we are ALL sinners?
"For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God"...sound familiar.
News flash...ALL also includes you!

Mat_9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Guess who He was talking too..

Oh by the way a certain person is always getting mad because I admit I do and he cant admit he does.

We have all sinned. I have, you have, and so has this other person whether they want to admit it or not.
But...what is sin, then?

Would it be sin if I:

Yes. Any of the above would be "sin". In other words, the Ten Commandments are still in force...except that now, we have grace....
Because of what Jesus did for me on Calvary, God has forgiven my sin and placed it far from me. He gives me the strength and the courage that I need to fight that sin. He keeps me from temptation, and delivers me from evil...because He loves me.
Amazing!

David was theperfect example of Gods grace

Funny things is if every one walked in love there would eb no need for the law. If all the worlds laws where removed. Most people would not steal, cheat. murder etc etc becausey they know it s wrong, see love is based on " do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

So if you dont steal you dont expect them to steal if you dont murder you dont expect them to murder.

Love doesnt need the Law its perfectly fine without it.

In All His Love
