Thanks for your reply. I'm sure Peter was still wrestling with the dream God gave him about the sheet coming down with all those unclean animals. It was a real transitional time for everyone. "The Way" was a revolutionary concept [John 14:6] which Jesus taught his followers.

Paul didnt need the disciples His revelation was Jesus Christ, that what Jesus is building His church on that which is what reveals truth to us, that which we can only get from God,

Mat_16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

As Paul put ot

Gal 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

It is "supposed" to be by teh Spirit we are led, buyt men still prefer to follow after men

BTW.....Matthew 16:17 is about Peter, not Paul. The one (singular) revelation that Peter received was that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God.

It has nothing to do with the revelations (plural) that Paul received.

Peter was the apostle to the Jews, and Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles (Galatians 2:7). So, it was no small thing when these two men had a head-to-head confrontation in Antioch. :)
Paul records it in Galatians 2.

Being that Peter did not feel called to the gentiles he was obviously leaning still to 'works' motivation....I think Paul tried to share his revelation with Peter.. but Peter was who Peter was..strong and hot headed as shown in the Gospels.. I believe it was GOD who finally shared with Peter on that rooftop..that if God Himself had called the uncircumcised clean ,then they were clean...God showed Peter that day that it was by grace we are saved through faith and not of ourselves.
Peter finally 'got it' through the Spirit. Not so much from Paul.
Two great men. :)

As a matter of reference, he did not go up to Jerusalem as did the apostles until 3 years later to become acquainted with Cephas [Peter] and saw no-one else but James, the Lord's brother. Gal 1:15-18.

I do agree with this post, I basically rendered this point with Mary in post #82, and Kepha31 added his point in #88, and in post # 116 Mary expressed that I was off point from the theme of the O P, and I agreed, Mary also said that if we wanted to continue this line of study maybe I should start a thread to tackle this understanding. Where does Scripture say that Peter finally 'got it' through the Spirit?? I'm not disagreeing with you...I just don't recall reading that.

Actually no, but than I dont need to remember that who is with me every day. Jesus Christ, which is what communion is all about, do this in memory of me. I havnt forgotten so dont need to remember and i have a lousy memory.

I find it fascinating that scripture indicates that Paul taught Peter something but Peter didn't teach Paul anything. Peter, the man who knew Jesus and walked and talked with him was unable to teach Paul a man who only knew Jesus thru revelation(s).

sure, and i guess the ref (to a letter of the Hebrew alphabet that means "arm") kind of describes maybe some of the power that is dried up; can't move things, no abundance, even can't feed

Indeed. They were two distinct personalities. Which becomes clearer when reading some of their stories. That's probably why Jesus gave them those specific ministries and I am absolutely convinced that he knew them very well. :) Even their very hearts! Bless ya!

I hope you do take communion because He did tell us to spend our days doing stuff....which is opposite of your statement:

And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water (something you do) because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”

Give (something you do) to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent (something you do which is a sinful act) has already committed adultery with her in his heart

Sell your possessions, and give to the needy (something you do)

He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me." (something you do)

Jesus also told us to do what he commanded and to put his words to practice:

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations (something you do), baptizing them (something you do) in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them (something you do) to observe all that I have commanded you.

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice (something you do) is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
