I have SO had my fill of churches that will entertain NO THOUGHT of anything that does not precisely align with their esoteric interpretations.

the present Church age has changed some for the good and some for the bad. there will always be church doctrines that are in left field. certainly today the church has a better rock band than ac/dc . we have allowed strange fire for the life of me why a church needs a man made manual on what/when to do it is beyond me... we have just enough oil to take care of us. that is a full time job...
Actually member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints very much care about God and scripture. What is the reason for who I am (a disciple of Christ), the where I am, the what I do, etc. If I did not care so much for God, I could taken some other path (following men, or just following laziness), but He is my King.

Blessings in Christ Jesus! Just yesterday, an old friend came to see me at work. She is one held captive by the enemy. Before I knew it I was preaching to her in The Spirit. When this happens my countenence changes to all joy. The joy of The Lord. The Words are perfect and flow like a river. It was apparent that her heart was being touched. This is not of my doing, but His. From there she left to attend a service. Now there is no doubt that The Lord knew she was coming (sent)to me. I did not know. What if all of the words that were spoken through me were recorded by someone standing close by, and after that, another took those words and wrote them down, word for word. If The Lord, on that particular day, had said to me in the morning, before work," I want you to write something down on paper and take it with you to work", I would do so. And if perchance The Words that He had me write down was the same words as spoken through me yesterday but instead of speaking them, when I saw her, I handed her the paper, would these words be " dead letter words" or would they touch her(the lost) heart? This is something to be considered when people open their Bibles, the lost as well as the living.
My wife and I attend Small Group study at a church where our tiny group membership is more than 1/3 Deacons and even an Elder (my wife and I are neither). The entire church lives and breathes "The Rapture." Yet, they have no qualms with me (I don't believe in it) talking openly about my interpretations of Scripture on that subject. They even accept me talking about "hands-on" instantaneous Healing, being "slain in the Spirit", and Speaking in Tongues.... none of which they believe happens.

you dont believe in the church being taken out ? my part i am not big on slain in the spirit tongues i am on the fence
"No", I do not believe in "Escape Pod" Christianity. (But, go find someone else if you want to have an argument. That is not my form of entertainment.)
i never said a thing about your faith the book of mormon which i do have around here someplace

It would not be dead letter word as it was by the prompting of the Holy Spirit that day...as you were led , by the Spirit.
Im not going to argue...I don't enjoy arguing as some seem to on here!!
But , I believe the bible is the letter of the word, and uninspired it is dead letter word..and could be used as a door stop. Yet when GOD breaths upon it in our daily reading , though we have read it a thousands times over the years..His breath bring life into it. It lives!
2 Cor 3
"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. "
You were doing anything 'of yourself' you were guided....and The Spirit gave it life. We are just the willing vessels...

Sorry I jumped the gun there. I hear the same old misinformed stuff from some folks that I... honestly I get really sick because of it and can be a bit triggered.
all right then suppose you explain it. i will be upfront i don't agree with LDS . i have a cousin that was catholic married a Lds he joined up. on of my biggest beefs is another testament . i will not rip your head off in disagreement. but would like to know more

Whatever 'box' we each are is of no consequence...IF we have had an 'encounter' with Father , seen our need of Him and thanked Him for the mighty powerful gift of Jesus Christ His Son and been washed in the blood .
The 'handle' that anyone chooses to use is void.
That is why I am with @Willie T I pray for The Church and the 'churches' but for the most part God has written 'Ichabod' over them...the glory has departed.
We are all blood - washed children or we are not. Regardless of some chosen denomination ( by some)

It’s ok. I totally acknowledge that other folks don’t agree with some of my beliefs, just like I disagree with some of thier beliefs. It’s something we can acknowledge and still be respectful of each other.
As to your question: the word "testament" used here is a testimony-- a proclamation of Christ and His Gospel, adding to the chorus within the Bible and the one each believer should feel.
It's not a replacement for either of those things, rather another voice in the choir.

But we aren't discussing Mormonism...we are discussion and individual who has chosen to believe in Jesus Christ , life, death, resurrection...
This is an open forum...she has every right to post here, just as you do..even though many of us don't see 'eye to eye' with you!!!
