Should our leaders be allowed to bomb citizens of sovereign nations? Should our President be allowed to fight covert wars? Should we allow our President to wage war without the consent of congress?
Should law enforcement in our own country be allowed to use drones to pursue or spy on suspected criminals?
I'm afraid Strat is correct. Citizens no longer have a voice in governmental policy, especially that of police, security or military matters.
Students of history will tell you that in a fascist police state INTIMIDATION of the citizenry is part of governmental demonstration of its power.
It is one of the principles of power. Effective too.
This isn't limited to drones only. Have you noticed the appearance of military helicopter strike teams 'exercising' in the middle of our cities lately?
The local police are informed of the 'exercise', but the citizens seldom get any warning. The reaction is inevitable and always the same. Citizens are shocked surprised and alarmed at the sudden show of force. These types of exercises and demonstrations of force have nothing whatsoever to do with preventing terrorism or civil crime. They have everything to do with expansion of police state powers in the minds and hearts of the citizens.
It's all about intimidation.
Back to the drone issue, have you read that domestic drones will now be
ARMED?
It's all about intimidation.
Did you know that the Blackwater mercenary organization has been licensed to operate within the borders of the United States and that it has been excused from normal restrictions of the law? Units of this organization were seen on the streets of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. It was reported on some occasions that they fired on unarmed civilians. The Posse Comitatus Act has been nullified.
IF ANYONE still thinks we live in a free country with the right and ability to decide governmental policy, they are terribly mistaken. If you haven't looked out your window and seen military or para-military aircraft and vehicles patrolling nearby, you soon will. If you haven't had an agent of the United States government (TSA) put his hands on your private areas or witnessed them doing it to someone else, you soon will. Have you stood by helplessly as the airport TSA agent groped your wife, while smirking men watched the 'action', like a pack of sex starved jackals? Angry is not the word I'd use to describe the emotion that comes to mind.
It's all about intimidation and our collective loss of liberty to our brave new fascist state. If you're a decent God fearing person you'll grow to hate it.
On the other hand, this new situation is just right for the filthy dogs of society.
but that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...
