OK, some people may think he is their Messiah, but there is nowhere in the Bible that says he will claim to be Jesus.
The Anti-Christ will sit in the Temple and proclaim himself to be God, 2 Thessalonians 2:4, and he will demand worship of himself on pain of death, Revelation 13
The fact that Jesus said they will be saying Christ is here, or there, and for His to not believe it, is a CLEAR pointer that false one that's to do the great signs and wonders will be a false Messiah. This is why Dr. James Strong translated Greek
pseudochristos to
"a spurious Messiah" in the Matthew 24:24 verse instead of the KJV "false Christs" translation.

NT:5580
pseudochristos (psyoo-dokh'-ris-tos); from NT:5571 and NT:5547;
a spurious Messiah:
KJV - false Christ.

That Matt.24:23-26 example is not the only example that a false one is coming to play Messiah.
The 2 Thessalonians 2:3-9 example is also evidence of a false one coming to sit in the temple at Jerusalem and play God (Jesus).
And the Revelation 13:11-16 revealing about the "another beast", a 2nd beast, a man that symbolically will have 2 horns LIKE a lamb (symbol for Jesus), but speak as a dragon, and will work great signs and miracles in the sight of men, and setup an idol image to fulfill the "abomination of desolation" for the end, also shows this playing of a false Messiah. The setting up of the "image of the beast" represents what the king of Babylon did with setting up a golden image of himself for all to bow to at the sound of the psalter, or be killed. That is the same application at the end of Rev.13 about that 2nd beast, a person, the coming Antichrist false Messiah.
What our Lord Jesus showed about it is that the majority WON'T KNOW who that coming Antichrist will really be. They won't see him as antichrist, they will see him as God. That is why Paul showed in 2 Thess.2 specifically, when he said that false one will exalt himself over all that is CALLED GOD, or THAT IS WORSHIPED. That means a one-world savior type over a one-world religion. That is their plan, and it is a mimic of our Lord Jesus Christ Who is to come and reign over all nations. Even the rider on the white horse in Rev.6 is a mimic of how Jesus returns on a white horse in Rev.19. The symbolic references are just all over the place in God's Word about this coming false Messiah, Apostle Paul even warning about the "another Jesus" in 2 Corinthians 11! Time to get up to speed.
