"don't be correcting what you perceive to be incorrect in someone else, or you will be known as judgemental rather than forgiving, and your good points will be overshadowed" perhaps. Teaching someone to fish (by example) is better than giving them a fish i guessBecause He says...leave the tares alone, incase you pull up the wheat also.
of course not--no one wants to contemplate Esau within themselves--we all ID with Jacob, rightI had never thought that it was "us" who could have both.

Just looked up the word translated as perfect in Genesis chapter 6, and it can mean quite a few things, but there is nothing to indicate any kind of genetic purity or purity of blood lines and that's not a surprise as these are modern concepts. One meaning is simply "complete" and interestingly enough there appears to be similar terminology used in the New Testament for mature Christians, where the words perfect and complete are used interchangeably in different translations. Regardless of what an accurate translation may render, there is no reason to assume Noah was physically perfect as the bible isn't a book of natural history or physical science, but rather concerns itself with the revelation of God in the person of His Son, a spiritual matter, not one of the flesh. Noah was perfect in His generation because he believed and feared God. He is called a preacher of righteousness, but we have no account of a single conversion from his preaching. Even if his genetic make up were entirely human, he had three sons who had three wives and we know nothing about their lineage except that their first ancestor was Eve.
but how is "generations" defined here? We are led to assume "progeny" by the preceding v, but many other translations define it "the things he begins" or whatever.Genesis 6:9 (NKJV) This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations.
seems to me that Ham pretty well answers thatIt is not presumptuous to assume the text says Noah was perfect (tamiym - without blemish) in his generations (gene pool).
New International VersionNothing about beginning anything or whatever.
or a great way to cause people to see and not see, maybe.Used in the text in conjunction with generations would appear to have genetics in view.

JPS Tanakh 1917
These are the generations of Noah. Noah was in his generations a man righteous and wholehearted; Noah walked with God.
genealogy is actually only intimated in a couple of KJV-following translations, it seems to me. The JPS Tanakh kind of relates the sense of "in his beginnings, in the things that he did or started" best, perhaps
and Ham?
well, your interp of "Noah was perfect in all his generations" lolI thought we were talking about Noah
i would just refer you to the Book's case about Ham there. It seems obvious that if "Noah was perfect in all his generations" meant what you say, then there would be no Ham?Has what to do with the topic? I thought we were talking about Noah. Make your case about Ham and then we can discuss.
Augustine was the first to really make the case that angelic mischief is not in view, but it was the Sons of Seth and daughters of Cain that intermingled and brought on evil. And that would justify making the translation regarding Noah being blameless. But both positions take a lot of liberties with the actual text.
I have no idea where I have been...but I have never 'seen' heard that before. It makes good sound spiritual and biblical sense...the best I have heard yet!!
Thank you!
People can study and not understand because they remain spiritually blind and deaf. What Jesus said with regard to parables applies here:I have a hard time understanding how people can study and study the Bible, go to churches and hear sermons, be on forums and discussing some of the written words of God and completely ignore ALL that it says about Jesus AFTER His death and resurrection. Do Christians not realize that He has a glorified body ? That He can STILL speak ? Do they think He is hiding? That He has become somehow incapable ? Why ??? I really do not get it even one bit. Well whatever floats your boat as they say....
