There are only two men - the Old Man and New Man.
Can't take much for the spiritual mind to figure it out.
You can "figure" much . . . however . . . what saith the Bible?
The two men are Adam and Christ, this is from 1 Corinthians 15.
When we are born again, we die to our flesh, the man born from Adam, as we become completely new, a child born from God, as in 2 Corinthians 5.
While we may exhibit behaviors of the old man remaining in our lives, the Bible attributes these to the workings of the flesh, should we fail to walk in the Spirit, as in Galatians 5.
But thoughts or behaviors which arise from the flesh should not be construed as the old man "sitting in the temple", that is, sharing the holy place in us with God, or, exerting some sort of power or force over us. Our flesh has been rendered completely powerless (Romans 6), and to think otherwise is deception.
I've heard this interpretation before, and variations of it, however, given that the passage doesn't really read that way, at least to me,
2 Thessalonians 2:1-10
1) Now we beseech you, brethren,
by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2) That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3) Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4) Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5) Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6) And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7) For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8) And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9) Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10) And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
This section is begun as referencing Jesus' coming, and our being gathered to Him, that is, the end of the age, the Day of Christ.
Our wickedness is already revealed, it is our flesh. The restrainer restrains until that restraint is removed. Does the Holy Spirit stop producing fruit in us? "He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus." So, no. God continues to work good in us until the final day.
"all power and signs and lying wonders", this is about something very different, something prophesied by others, the abomination of desolation standing where it ought not to be. At which time, those in Judea are to flee. A temporal terrestrial event, not a spiritual condition.
Much love!
