I don't see any good reason to take recreational drugs, but I also don't consider it a religious issue either.

You don't know that God cares about everything that concerns His children? We have the mind of Christ, and to alter our minds with drugs concerns Him!I don't see any good reason to take recreational drugs, but I also don't consider it a religious issue either.
This is one of those very important truths...I would say this is the truth, and it can apply to many different things.
As Paul said...This is one of those very important truths...
It can be anything. It can be a career, a relationship, habit, an addiction...just about anything.
An identity in something other than the Christ.
I am a lot of things to many people, husband, father, electrician, and former chef.
But I always see myself as one of God's kids first and foremost. If I get caught up in one of those titles and see myself moreso in one of those things vx who I'm supposed to be...it hurts my relationship with God.
Many people want to limit their relationship with God and only have as much of God as they see as prudent in their lives.
It doesn't work like that. Jesus is either your Lord and Master or just an acquaintance you get along with or have animosity towards or something in between the two latter.
I found it to be a religious issue. I was converted, meeting Jesus for the first time at age 24. After years of smoking, growing, and dealing, I found that the weed wasn't making me happy and more, in fact I didn't like the state of mind I was getting into and was one the verge of looking for something else. Then I met Jesus. I was happy. At peace. Life all of a sudden looked fabulous and I had not a care in the world...I had found love. Less than a week after, I wondered what a joint would be like, so went for a walk out on the farm, day by a quiet peaceful little lagoon surrounded by birds, frogs, and trees, and lit up. The Jesus who had kept me company the previous week walked away. I felt the reality of His absence as real as the absence of a brother. I threw it away, along with the bag. God had told me in no uncertain terms what He thought of it... For me.I don't see any good reason to take recreational drugs, but I also don't consider it a religious issue either.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:This seems to be a legitimate question. I run into it more and more and I think it is one of many topics that fuels hatred because those that indulge in recreational pharmaceuticals are tired of being looked down at. They want society to accept them as drug abusers, as a norm. And of course this goes on into other pervasive beliefs and activities.
To me, the question becomes, is cannabis a valid medicine, and if so, how does is stack up to other medicines used for the same purposes? Cannabis has side effects, and many medications have side effects.lol But the question is how do you balance pot smoking with the Bible. Most that try to explain this get defensive. Can you explain without getting defensive. What is your advise to other brothers and sisters concerning pot smoking?

So if you are taking a muscle relaxer and pain pill for muscle spasms, what are those doing to you?
For me, my desire is to receive all my body needs for good functioning from my food. I'm closer to that than I've been. It's about all we do. Am I eating right, and I still need a drug? OR am I eating poorly, and am using my diabetes pill to make up for that?
Every drug I consume of whatever description, I ask myself, is there a non-drug way to accomplish this? What does God say? If I'm going to ingest a drug, which will be the most effective, and the least invasive?
With something like pot, as it does have the tendency for dependency, and it does have psychoactive effects, I think this should be questioned like any other drug with those properties, like muscle relaxers and pain killers, anti-depressants, things like that.
Just some of my thoughts.
Much love!
This is exactly what we need to talk about. I thank anyone that steps up to the plate and will give some honesty on this topic. So Michael, why is it not a religious issue?I don't see any good reason to take recreational drugs, but I also don't consider it a religious issue either.
There are many more effective and efficient drugs that the proponents of marijuana don't want to talk about.
Most of the symptoms that marijuana and CBD proponents discuss as being effective for are actually psychosomatic...
What do you mean, "religious issue"?This is exactly what we need to talk about. I thank anyone that steps up to the plate and will give some honesty on this topic. So Michael, why is it not a religious issue?
Responding to Michael1985 statement....the question has been posed, is this a religious issue? What do you mean, "religious issue"?
Another way to respond to this is that people do quite a number of things to change their mental feeling, from using drugs to riding dirt bikes to watching action movies or for that matter porn, in fact, many many things people do to change their minds. Anger addicts who rage. Fear addicts who tremble. This is exactly what we need to talk about. I thank anyone that steps up to the plate and will give some honesty on this topic. Yes, thank you!Responding to Michael1985 statement....the question has been posed, is this a religious issue?

And why can someone having 1 or 2 drinks get behind the wheel of a car go to jail with a DUI ?It is interesting the wisdom in "Moderation in all things, but I will not become a slave to anything." For instance, 2 drinks a day can lower LDL, and more than that can higher LDL.
And why can someone having 1 or 2 drinks get behind the wheel of a car go to jail with a DUI ?
Ever thought of that while rationalizing drinking in "moderation" ?
And what does being sober-minded mean to you ?
and drinking being beneficial, you can't have it both ways. the fact is 1 drink is enough to make one not sober-minded hence a DUI. The law is not stupid and for a good reason.I was talking about LDL. But you know that.

Oh really?I guess that's the question. There seems to be a growing body of evidence to suggest otherwise.
Much love!
Hey Marks,Another way to respond to this is that people do quite a number of things to change their mental feeling, from using drugs to riding dirt bikes to watching action movies or for that matter porn, in fact, many many things people do to change their minds. All these things need to be subservient to Christ, and our self control transformed by Him.
